The Tangent is an understable midrange disc by Maple Valley Plastics. MVP disc sports is known for its high quality putters and midrange discs while utilizing the overmold and “gyroscope” technology. This understable disc is ideal for beginners and less powerful disc golfers, but will also hold a place for more powerful throwers who need a nice straight flight. MVP claims that it has a smooth profile that will fit in your hand like a glove. The Tangent complements MVP’s Vector & Axis nicely to give MVP a full suite of midranges, with the Tangent being the most understable of the bunch.

The tangent is a mid range that feels almost like a putter to me, just a fast one. The feel of the disc is great and in plasma plastic it feels really nice. I found that the tangent was not as understable as everyone was saying in the plasma plastic. It was understable for sure but more like a stable to understable than a disc that you can't use because of the understability. Maybe plasma is a more stable plastic and that helps some but I found it to be a very workable midrange. I like it because it feels like a putter and gives me the trust I have like when I throw putters. I throw putters off the tee very often in the wooded courses I play and the tangent flying a little further but feeling like a putter is a nice addition. It can hold any line you put on it and with some good snap you will find the understability of this disc. I would think a lot of new players and people who enjoy throwing understable discs will find this a very nice addition and something that is worth checking out.

So have thrown a friends for some rounds but never made my bag. Has a good, consistent turn and fade but it isn't much. I have a proton Axis and this is a similar disc but with half the turn and fade for comparison. If the Axis is too much turn and fade the Tangent may be what you need.

The max weight plasma tangent is hands down the most unique disc in my bag. It is a true jack of all trades. It works well as an approach disc because it resists skipping or rolling. It will ride a gentle hyzer line or anhyzer line with equal ease. It works well as a straight mid when powered down and thrown flat, and has enough glide to get easy distance from a stand-still or awkward stance shot. It can be hyzer flipped for surprisingly long straight shots. And along with all of this, it's not a bad putter due to it's straight flight and the flexibility of the plasma plastic. If I had to choose a disc for a 1 disc round, it's the Tangent.

I had to leave a review to contradict the flight numbers.  This thing fades less than my Anode.  The numbers for me are 5 5 -1 0.  It's the straightest disc I own.  It's a great disc for someone coming over from Ultimate, too, as they fly very similar to Ultimate discs.  It holds any line it put it on.  Hyzer, anny, straight.  It is the most versatile mid disc I've ever come across.  I've used the Tangent in Plasma and Eclipse for 4 or 5 years and I don't think it will ever leave my bag.

The tangent is a lot of fun to throw (RHBH).  It will usually fly very straight with a little bit of fade, but putting more power on it makes it turn just a bit to the right, which is great for someone who can't forehand very well and needs something to finish right. If I need to I can throw it on hyzer lines, but I have other discs that cover that area pretty well.  Wouldn't recommend for beginners unless purchased in a lighter weight.  Also nice for low ceiling shots and tunnel shots. Plasma is a fantastic grippy plastic and I definitely recommend that. I think proton and eclipse are too rigid and if they get wet they're very slippery.

I received this disc during the 2015 MVP Circuit. My first reaction was that the Plasma plastic was beautiful! I was only hoping I would like the flight and feel of the disc as much as its aesthetics.

Unfortunately the Tangent didn't feel very good in my hand; something about the depth of the disc/rim, mixed with the tackiness of the materials. I threw the Tangent alright throughout the Circuit, but I knew it wasn't a disc that would hang around in my bag for a very long time.

The flight of the disc was very nice, but it was too understable for me to use as a "go-to" mid-range. If I did end up keeping this disc in my bag, it would be used for shorter anyhyzer lines, hyzer-flips, and tunnel shots.

I don't think this is a bad disc at all, it just didn't work for my personal needs. Out of the three discs from the Circuit, it seemed that collectively the Tangent was a favorite and worked well for many of the players there that day. So if you are looking for a slightly understable mid-range with good grip, this could be a great disc for you.

I picked up the Plasma Tangent over the summer at a circuit event and it sat in the storage bin till this past month. I was looking for somthing between my OS Bard and my Theory and decided to give this a shot and I havent looked back since. Effortless distance on a smooth release that will gradually turn before kicking in to a gradual fade that finishes oh so soft, and the added glide in plasma plastic is a bonus. This disc is in the bag to stay.

This is my kind of mid. Ive learned that if you can throw a mid instead of driver, you should throw a mid. The tangent is a good one to reach for. It comes in heavier weights which helps keep it from being turned over when throw longer distances. That said I’ve easily thrown this disc 300 feet and at that distance can land it within ten feet of my target. Like most mid ranges it will hold a line.
