The Latitude 64 Trident is a unique disc, perfect for specialty shots that require a monster hooking fade. When you have a moderate distance shot and need to go around a big clump of trees, this is the disc to reach for. Although the Trident is a driver, it has a speed rating of 6 and a glide rating of 4! If you’re looking for a max distance driver, this is not the disc to choose. The Trident has a super-blunt rim and a fairly flat top. This disc feels very comfortable for both backhand and forehand shots.

    Retro Burst Details

Retro Burst is a special run of Latitude 64's Retro plastic featuring color bursts throughout the plastic. Retro plastic was designed for players who wanted to be reminded of the old school plastic from disc golf in the 80's. This baseline plastic easily "breaks in" and is very affordable.

I chose Retro Burst, but I actually have this in gold line. It is my favorite overstable meathook. I use it more than any other fairway driver. This thing is surprisingly glidey for such an overstable disc. I would say the trident flies similar to a firebird, but it feels better and glides a little bit more. I love my Trident. It's definitely one of my 3 favorite discs and one that is used more than anything other than my putters. I use it for forehand and backhand. It has a very blunt nose and a flat top, so it doesn't get very much distance, but it flies consistently. The rim feels larger than a speed 5 disc too, more like a 7 or 8.

    Mine is Gold Line plastic.

If you've read any of my other reviews, you know I generally take a bunch of similar discs out to compare them to each other.  I couldn't do that with the Trident because I don't own anything like it.

This thing is so overstable that it really needs new terminology to describe it.  Uberstable?  Ultrastable?  This is not a bad thing.  It's exactly what I was looking for.

I wanted a utility disc that I could use to make 90 degree turns or shorter upshots around obstacles, backhand or forehand.  That's what I got.  Between my lower arm speed and the overstability, I don't get the distance many of the other reviewers get.  That's okay.  It serves the purpose I wanted.

Bag-worthiness: It's in my bag.  I rarely use it but it's one of those discs that when I need it, I'm glad I have it.

I have a Retro Burst, and am loving this disc. First, it will fly into any headwind I've thrown it into without turning one bit. Second, I prefer the feel-factor of fairways over mids, and this has become my #1 approach disc. Soooo reliable. Third, the blunt nose of the Trident makes it more durable than most baseline plastic discs. Not to mention that it looks awesome. Best bargain at $9.99.
