The Sapphire is a distance driver designed for Latitude 64's Easy-to-Use Line. It's light, fast, and yet still easy to grip and control. The Sapphire is the perfect partner to the extremely popular Diamond, a fairway driver that has been embraced by many young players, or those with slower arm speeds. With the Sapphire, players can add extra speed and stability in their disc arsenal. It has a slim profile for smooth releases, and it is easy to get a good grip, especially for those of you with smaller hands.

Solid beginner driver. Goes decently far without putting a ton of power on it. Slightly under powering it will make it go laser straight for a good distance.

I did field testing with this comparing against some similar discs, and I think the flight numbers are about right for me. I was quite pleased with its flight and distance: I get it to go pretty straight and it usually goes farther than most of my other similar 8/9/10 speeds -- except the Vandal, which is listed at only a 5 glide; so I bumped up its glide a bit in my review, and would therefore drop the Sapphire down to match (maybe I should have just made the Vandal a 6 to match). The slight understability of the Sapphire might make it OK for beginners, but the speed may still relegate it to being an early disc for newbies to work up to. I like the Opto plastic (as I do other similar, Champion-type grades from different brands): good feel, release, and durability. Great disc!

I'm new to disc golf. I've got 15-20 rounds of the local 9 hole course under my belt, with just a few other out of town courses smattered in as well. I got hooked on disc golf because I had a knack for throwing forehand. I've come to realize though that my forehand has become a bit of a crutch and is limiting my game. So despite being pretty abysmal at backhand I resolved to get better. I picked up a Sapphire this past week to facilitate my resolution. Despite a few errant throws these past few days with the Sapphire, things started clicking for me and this disc after just a couple of rounds. I credit part of my success to the disc's purported beginner friendly nature which is what inspired me to pick one up in the first place. It seems very forgiving and doesn't seem to be inclined to leave the fingertips too nose up or down. Without too much practice and a whole lot of luck, I wrapped today's round up with my longest backhand drive and possibly the best shot I've had to date. My drive with the Sapphire sailed 300' landing directly under the basket on my local course's second to last hole. Good for birdie. Still trying to figure this disc out for forehand but it's seemingly opening the doors to a whole new aspect of the game for me. It's fun to get equipment that inspires you to get out and play more often!

This disc was one of my first introductions into Distance drivers back whe I started playing in 2020. I would say the numbers are pretty accurate, flippy, but not uncontrolable. If you're new to the game, this would make a wondrful addition to your bag.

Feel: The Opto plastic is stiff, but with a decent amount of grip. If hitting the ground with speed, It will also produce a decent skip.

Flight: This disc oout of the box has a really nice flip to it, when released with Hyzer, it will flip flat, turn for a while then come back with a decent fade. When thrown Flat, it will turn for 90% of the flight before finishing straight. If thrown on Anny, this disc will turn into a roller, unless given enough height.

All in all, this disc makes for a fun disc to try out. If you are a beginner or are one who doesn't have the arm speed for a more stable driver, This disc is for you.

I really want to like the Sapphire and maybe I just need to throw it a little more. It flies well but seems to be quite a bit more overstable than the numbers suggest. I am at 5000' of altitude which is definitely a factor in its stability and probably bumps the speed rating up as well.  When driving with this disc, I really need to concentrate on a clean, flat release. When I throw it correctly (RHBH), it is rewarding and has a predictable fade. When thrown too high or with any hyzer angle at all it will really take off to the left with a ton of fade.

This is a great pick for a distance driver for a beginning player.  I would recommend this disc to any newer player who is looking to make the next step into distance.  I would say once I got my form down this disc became my go to driver, which I still throw to this day. I would say it is a bit overstable but wears down nicely over time.

An awesome first distance driver for beginners who have worked their way out of throwing only putters and mids and ready for some speed. It was the longest disc in my bag for a substantial time when I first started playing. Since then, as I've gotten better and gained more arm speed, it has turned into the perfect hyzer-flip disc. It is decently stable out of the box, but once you season it in a bit, you can push it straight for a good ways while still getting reliable, not overly sharp fade at the end. I just lost my very seasoned one and immediately came to buy another as I can't keep it out of my bag!

I like this disc a lot.  I think it may be a bit more overstable than the numbers suggest, having a touch more fade than expected.  This is my "skip" disc, as I always seem to get a little extra flight from it after it hits the ground.

Brand new disc, thrown only a few times so far and it is very over stable for me right out of the box!  I am a RHBH thrower and always give my discs a month of solid play before making judgement... but other reviews saying it flew per its flight numbers right out of the box, they had a completely different experience than me.

Perfect disc for a beginner! especially if you can find it in the sub 160g weights. This as a beginner was one of the first discs i could get dependable distances on and the glide does not lie! Sometimes it felt as if it would stay up on the air forever!

As you start to grow your game a bit this can be a great hyzerflip disc for distance.

This is the distance driver that every beginner should start with. I do not have the fastest arm speed so most distance drivers have an excessive fade to the left for me which can be accentuated when I get the release poorly (which happens a fair amount). This disc fits my arm speed great, and still has a decent left finish. It is very consistent, and is my max distance disc. The only thing I will note is that it turns over pretty easily in a headwind so I either need to account for that (which can be difficult) or disc up.

This disc is a winner! Even though it's marked as part of their easy to throw line up, it's a fantastic distance driver with great glide and even has a use for bigger arms (IMO). As a 43 year old player, when I want to go for max distance, having a 155g disc with great glide is a great way for me to maximize my distance.

I HIGHLY recommend picking up a Sapphire. Like right now! Do it!

My first real driver. Consistent 300ft when I started RHBH. I have to remember to take a bit off my throw, but if I do I can send it 350+ft understable and finish that way. If I don't slow my arm it's a roller.

This is great disc for beginners and intermediate players. My 13 year old originally purchased this disc in the Opto 159 weight. It really helped him improve his game as he is strictly forehand, and as many of the reviews state, he has smaller hands. So its a great disc for youth learning to throw with more speed. He graduated from this disc and wanted to throw higher speed discs so after losing my Beast pro 165, he let me hold onto the Sapphire. For intermediate/advanced players you can ignore the smaller hands as I found the grip to be very similar to the beast pro. I throw RHBH and when I need a disc that I can throw straight for shots that are right around 300' this is my go to disc. I throw it with a very slight hyzer (almost a natural hyzer) and don't muscle the lower weight too much and am consistent on birdies at my favorite course. I've even hit the chains a couple of times, but no aces yet... This is a great disc for anyone. It has a great grip and feel and the Opto plastic is extremely durable.

Big fan of the Sapphire and this set of Lat64 discs as a whole. For some context, I started playing regularly about 6 months ago and actively working on my form for the last 4 or so. Don't let the fact that it's from the "easy to use" line fool you; if you have smaller hands or don't throw over 300' yet then I'd highly recommend looking into what Lat64 has going on. I'm a late 20s guy and this is probably one of my favorite discs alongside my Jade. My hands are on the smaller side, so finding discs I can comfortably throw with a power grip has been a chore. Personally, the rim size and depth of the Sapphire fit my grip perfectly; if you've ever thrown a Diamond or Jade you can expect the same feel with a slightly wider rim (like 0.1cm).

Cons: So far I haven't seen anything listed above 159g; I'd love to keep throwing the same molds in a ~165g weight class as my form improves, but I understand the reasoning for keeping these light.

Pros: Perfect grip for a guy with smaller hands. Glides for days. Lat64's Gold Line plastic is personally one of my favorite plastics to throw just after the offerings from Kastaplast.

This is a super fun disc to have in the bag.  I have just recently started to enjoy some lighter discs, and I got the chance to get a goldline Sapphire after trying a buddy's.  The glide on this disc is huge, it will go and go.  I have been able to even get great distance with a forehand shot, though only with a decent tailwind, it doesn't handle torque great.

The one knock on this disc is it doesn't finish with a very strong fade.  It will go right, for a righty BH, but when it begins to fade, it finishes more straight.  The problem I've run into with it, is I use it when I want to get big distance.  Sometimes when I really try and get into a throw, I round and this disc goes right and never comes back.  But really that's more of a knock on me, not the disc.

The rim is a perfect size, and I get consistent smooth releases both on a BH and a FH.  Due to it being light and also a touch understable, this is hard for me to use a work horse disc.  It mainly comes out when I want to go far or have the tailwind going.  This is definitely a fun disc to have in the bag.

I didn't really like this disc. It was a lot more overstable than I thought it would be, and it doesn't go very far. It's light, so it doesn't do well in wind. If you need something to get down quickly in the woods, go for this.

This disc is very easy to throw for a speed 10, great flight path that always fades out at the end. The disc easily added a bout 30' for my usual drive.

The flight path is very wide and flexy, so you need some space with this disc. I would not recommend for a heavily wooded course, but good to bag for those long open holes.

I have found that the disc is not very wind friendly, either a head or tail wind is not advantageous. I have not thrown in a cross wind yet, but I imagine due to the shape and ease of turn that you could loose control RHBH with a left to right wind.

Great disc overall, would recomend to a friend.

I have Opto chameleon, Opto and goldline sapphires in my bag. The Opto variants are definitely more stable then the goldline. Brand new the goldline turned alot more then the optos. Almost roller but somehow still stabled out in the end. They fight the wind surprisingly well for a lightweight understandable disc. I threw my Opto chameleon into a 15mph headwind and it didn't even skip a beat. My new go to distance disc. I'm throwing these between 20-40 feet further than my Escapes. Highly recommend for a beginner. And I think it could find a place is some more advanced players bags.

Plain and simple, buy this disc.

The sapphire is a great addition to Latitudes line of easy to throw, made for everyone discs. Don't let that label scare you off. At 157 grams, this disc is stable. I wouldn't call it overstable, but it will reward a flat and even throw with a consistent stable finish, only it will be much further down the fairway than you expect.

As with any light disc, it does get a bit touchier in a headwind, but it is much more useable than most in that given situation.

Overall, if you are looking for a point and shoot control driver, this is it. From beginner to the more average arm advanced players, i can see this finding a spot in anyones bag.

I'll bite to be the first to review this gem of a disc (pun intended).

I am reviewing the First Run Opto Chameleon version, so I can't guarantee future runs will be as I describe, but I doubt there'll be any huge variation.

In my first month or two of Disc Golf, I relied heavily on a Goldline Jade 152 grams to power my long drives.  The Jade worked like a charm, but I quickly outgrew it, and my straight shots ended up being huge, sweeping turnovers.  I eventually settled on Shrykes for my long distance needs.

The latest in Latitude's 'Easy to Use' line, the Sapphire, is not like the Jade in stability.  You would think that its marketing, flight numbers and light weight would brew into an understable, finnicky disc, but the Sapphire is not that.  In fact I would say the Sapphire is very much like a Shryke in its flight.  If you underpower it or release it badly, it can easily just hyzer out on you.  Give it a smooth, flat throw though, and it will give you in return a healthy turn with an equal amount of fade-- a perfect full flight pattern.  Right now my 157 gram Sapphire trades blows with my 163 gram Star Shryke, but I would rate the feel of the Opto plastic as better, and there's no little microbubbles you have to deal with either, that you get with lightweight Innova plastic.

So in conclusion, I wouldn't consider the Sapphire a beginner friendly disc, but it's definitely a disc an intermediate player would find useful as their first consistent distance driver.  Its light weight nature and grippy plastic makes it easier to throw, while its Shryke like flight gives it a very dependable flight.
