The Sapphire is a distance driver designed for Latitude 64's Easy-to-Use Line. It's light, fast, and yet still easy to grip and control. The Sapphire is the perfect partner to the extremely popular Diamond, a fairway driver that has been embraced by many young players, or those with slower arm speeds. With the Sapphire, players can add extra speed and stability in their disc arsenal. It has a slim profile for smooth releases, and it is easy to get a good grip, especially for those of you with smaller hands.

My favorite backhand flip up turnover shot. Use it for uphill or tunnel shots that have room to fade right. Good for women, children and old guys.... LOL.

The Sapphire is one of the best distance drivers for intermediate players currently throwing in the 280-320 foot range, and wanting to get a little more distance. I bag three Sapphires in different weights and states of abuse--two in Gold plastic and one in Opto. The Gold plastic discs seem to glide sightly farther but the Opto disc is generally more stable and wind resistant. I play at higher elevations (3500-4000 feet) and even though the Sapphire's flight characteristics are similar to my MVP Waves, I'll often use a Sapphire when I don't have as much room on the right hand side of the fairway or need a little more fade at the end of the throw. At lower elevation, I rely more on my Opto Sapphire or MVP Photons,

I love the sapphire. It's the only disc I own more than two of and it's my go to for anything straight or slightly stable, backhand and forehand. I have both gold and opto plastics. The gold line plastic seems to have more glide and may be a few millimeters thinner than opto, but both are great! Once it beats in you'll see some turn but it always fights back. Recommend it to any beginner or intermediate player throwing 300-350.

Beginner here, I throw at a local arboretum 3 times week averaging 80 throws a session. My throw is getting consistent enough that I decided to get some distance drivers(this, an Enigma, and an Emperor) to feel out their throws. First day everything went as I was warned, dumping fast, but at the end of the day I was getting them to fly ok. The next time I threw I got this baby to get my farthest throw at 332' and four other throws that broke 300' with a little bit of s-turn. I also got the other distance drivers to go up to around 300' but the sapphire felt more comfortable and more controllable than the other higher speed disc. So I agree this is a great beginner disc. Enough chops to get you more distance without taking too much speed to get going.

This is a fantastic disc! I highly recommend it for beginners. For people with slower arm speeds it is a straight flyer and for people with higher arm speeds has a nice S curve with a  predictable fade.

I own these in 165g Gold (from royal box) and 160g both gold and opto.

The sapphire is hard to peg. When I hit it just right, the flight is amazing. However, it seems to have a small sweet spot that is hard to replicate throw after throw. The 165g ones from the royal box are definitely not flippy, they're like a glidey -1/2 and my favorite version of the sapphire. The lighter stock runs are particularly finicky. If I hit them too hard they'll just ride right the whole way, but just a little too light and they don't see the -2 turn.

It's possible I just don't mesh well with 10 speeds as I tend to prefer (and throw better) 9 speeds and then 11 speed drivers. In any case, sapphire is definitely glidey and can find some easy distance, but I just find them too touchy, and they get very finicky in any kind of wind due to the weights.

The first few years into playing disc golf, I was always searching for that magic bullet that would give me the most distance. After a while I realized that such a thing was a fool's venture, and just stuck with discs I liked. I bought a GL Sapphire on a whim, and got to throw it today. I guess it's only when you stop searching for something that it comes to you. I was just getting crazy distance out of this thing on a handful of throws, and not on my best day either. The glide is incredible, and it feels great in the hand, not to wide, and very grippy. It stood up to a headwind and just bombed in a tailwind. Can't wait to throw it again tomorrow.

The Sapphire has been marketed as the overstable compliment to the Diamond, but I feel that Jade already fills that role well. The Sapphire has more high and low speed stability than the Jade, and these two have become my primary drivers from the teebox. I throw the Sapphire both fh and bh, and I trust it in all conditions save for throwing fh into a firm headwind.
