The Latitude 64 Ballista is a fast, overstable ultra-high-speed driver. It is described as "a more understable World" and will exhibit a slight degree of high-speed turn for the advanced disc golfer. This disc offers a predictable flight path every throw, and is often used for shaped shots that require a good amount of fade.

There's nothing else in my bag that I can push out further than my well beat in ballista. Brand new, at max power, it'll have some turn before fading, but it'll definitely beat in to become a flippy bomber.

I got a Ballista Pro as a gift, and while it bombs and it went right into my bag, I needed something to compliment it that was a little more workable. Because it's a "pro" model, I decided the first logical place was to go to the orginal Ballista and wow this disc is amazing! Despite the speed 14, the rim feels comfy in the hand and Opto is great feeling plastic. At 400-420' of power (and at sea level), it slowly flips up to flat, turns a bit, and has a reliable fade. A lot of other underestable high speed drivers tend to flip quickly with a lot of lateral movement, but the Ballista takes its time turning which yields big distance. I'd highly recommend this disc for anyone with 375-425' of distance!

    VERY UNDERRATED DISC!

For Beginner arms, this disc is overstable. But for intermediate arms, this disc is a power hyzer disc. I've been loving the flex lines and getting an easy 400+ with this disc.

Only knock, is the rim is a little shallow. Other than that, its an amazing disc.

As an amateur, I find this to be a wonderful driver! Definitely flippier than the numbers show, and a little slower speed, maybe a 13, 5, -2, 3. Makes for some fun S-Curve drives, if you are a beginner, I'd say stay away from this, but as you gain arm speed, it's a nice disc to have in the bag!

The ballista is an interesting one. I think it is a fun disc to use due to the combination of big speed, glide, and turn. When thrown with the right angle and height this disc has the potential to push farther than other common discs. The challenge is that to cash out that big distance you need to have a smooth controlled release because the high speed will magnify errors. In addition to the angle control, also keep in mind that the flight numbers are only useful for comparison to other lat 64 discs. In my experience, a fresh ballista is less stable than a shryke so it can easily be burned over when thrown with 400+ power. I currently bag the ballista as a tailwind max distance driver and believe this disc is best for intermediate players with a smooth backhand looking for that extra distance.

I throw heavier discs 170's and this needs some power behind it to run a proper flight path. I'm sure if I got 160's I would be able to use it on many different throws. All in all, it's a good disc

Lovely and good disc for VERY GOOD PLAYERS! ONLY VERY GOOD. Yes, I know that feeling, when you want to try out the fastest disc thinking that it will make you fly the furthest. If you want this disc to do what it does.(IT DOES AMAZING THINGS), then you must have a speed 14 arm. Not many people have a speed 14 arm. I would say that this disc may eventually become my BEST MAX DISTANCE DRIVER. Not yet, but when I can. This is because right now it is just a meaty disc. Very overstable, especially in Opto plastic and just can get me 300 feet. If I want more, I must actually force-it over so I can get it. I am NOT SAYING THAT THIS DISC IS BAD. It is a great disc. I just can't recommend this to the everyday discgolfer. Terrible disc for beginners. Don't recommend it at all as it is almost like glimpsing another whole new level. I wouldn't even recommend this high-speed distance driver to intermediate players. It is just require too much power to throw. Not only power, but just experience with throwing such discs. Apart from who can throw this disc, it is actually a great disc for those who want the max distance with a great skip. The rim of this disc is very large and it doesn't feel that bad in the hand. I personally like it as it helps me with my forehand grip. I like a bit of a large grip and I find that the Ballista gives it to me. Overall, a great disc which probably is not for you. I won't say no to buying it and I would recommend you maybe just to have it in fieldwork sessions so you can see how you are improving. I do have a couple throws with it, just so I can see whether I am getting better with throwing it. ONE DAY IT WILL BE IN MY BAG! Just one day, maybe not now, maybe not in a year. It will be as it is a GREAT DRIVER.

This is the BEST 14 speed driver I have found so far. I get 300-350 feet drives using this disc consistently. It requires a ton of strength to get the most out of it. When I first got it I found that it would always pull to the left but as I got stronger and I started turning my hand over more, the flight pattern began to level out. It will always have a slight left turn at the end of its flight. I would not recommend this disc for beginners due to its overall speed and strength required. The disc itself is very durable. I've driven it into multiple trees and it has very minimal damage.

This currently holds my maximum controlled distance, there's a little bit of turn and in a head wind it tends to not come back from the turn.  But in no wind or tail wind this disc just goes and goes with very little effort. I can get a little bit more distance out of the Shryke but the Ballista almost always finishes right where I'm aiming while the Shryke is touchier to predict. I've had some of my farthest throws both FH and BH with the Ballista. The fade isn't quite as dramatic as a Destroyer but it is definitely there. It usually finishes with big skip when thrown low. I think this is probably a great disc for an intermediate player that wants to get a bit more distance than they get out of their 12 speeds and I could see it becoming a favorite driver for FH dominant players.

I traded my buddy for an opto Ballista that had been used relatively a lot and it really disappointed me. I love how this disc feels in my hands and I absolutely love the opto plastic. I think opto is a plastic everyone should give a chance because it is quite durable most of the time and feels just amazing. I think I need to get a newer ballista and see how it flies because my used one is way more understable than it should be for me. I throw a max of 350 feet consistently so I am not a super far thrower, I wanted to start throwing a ballista because it seemed like a great stable distance driver. I would be curious to compare mine to a new one and maybe I have a faster armspeed than I realized and I can flip a ballista more than I was expecting. But I think it is more along the beat up ballista being too understable for me. I was really disappointed with the flight after feeling how nice it felt in my hand and how much I enjoy opto plastic. I think the ballista pro would be way too stable for what I am looking for and I am giving this disc a 3 star because it let me down but I still have some hope that a newer disc in maybe a different plastic could be what I want. This disc feels great in the hand for my large hands so if you are looking for a comfortable wide rim driver check out the ballista.

I found a Gold Line Ballista a while back and for a time it became my main distance driver. But then it ended up being too understable/flippy for me. I loved how fast that disc was and it's still to date my further drive I've ever had with a disc (444') since I started playing last August of 2019.

I wanted that same feel of my Ballista but with a touch more stabiilty so I opted for the Opto version. It is more stable, but still more understable than the -1 rating suggests. For some reason It doesn't seem quite as fast flying as the gold line version I have. It's nice, but doesn't quite fit exactly what I was looking for. I also picked up a Ballista Pro in the Gold Line (also left a review for that one).

All in all, I think there will be place in my bag for this disc, but not sure how often it will get used.

For what it is, the ballista is a fantastic max distance driver for slower-intermediate arm speeds and a long turnover/roller disc for those with higher arm speeds.

The numbers are bit off on this disc, but I would rate it 14/6/-2/2.5.

With a wide rim in hand, the ballista flies very fast and glides a bit more than I expected. After throwing one, I figured it was a fluke that it was understable as it is, but as I threw more, that tends to be the norm.

I would compare this to an innova shryke. Almost identical flight paths with maybe a touch more fade at the end.

Overall, I think the Ballista is a fantastic disc to add to the majority of player's bags in the max distance slot. It's easy to throw, goes far and gets there fast.

My workhorse drivers are speed 11. I happen to use a few of the ultra speed discs as well. This disc is a more understable than a Nuke. When thrown with a slight hyzer it matches its flight numbers. I find it to be a great compliment to The nuke, Daedalus, and Halo. Great long distance roller for my arm speed, holds a straight line. Great bombing disc for my arm speed. I standing drive this disc between 320 and 350 ending straight ahead when thrown flat. This would be equivalent to my furthest throws with the Nuke and Daedalus with standing throws but landing in the middle with respect to their landing zones.

All of the above is about backhand.

This disc literally matches my run up drives with my Tee Rex, standing. Running up takes it into the danger zone of being a bit too flippy without a hyzer. I haven't measured my run up distance with this disc quite yet. I did get a 340 forehand with it on my first try.

I can't wait to take it out on the course after finding its place among the big wings.

I gave it a four for being labeled as Wraith, Zues, Boss, Nuke config at a higher speed and actually being less stable than all of them. That said. I am already very fond of this disc and can't wait to grab some eagles with it. Crusher. Not overly flippy. Glide is great and has a commanding forward fade.

I did throw this disc very high and flat and it held it straight for way longer than expected. Any other similar disc would have lost much more speed. Not sure what to make of that. Must be an aerodynamic drag ratio difference like a putter.

It is not a destroyer.  It will never be a destroyer.  It should never be compared to a destroyer.  Ballistas are great discs.  They taught me how to throw my forehand.  A Ballista is amazingly glidey and understable.  If Ballistas were more overstable, everyone would have one.  I use mine for hyzer flips, and it is great for over the top shots.  Everyone should have one of these.

For the longest time I refused to throw anything faster than a trespass or enforcer... The Ballista changed me. The distance this disc gets from the same power for other high-speed driver is unparalleled. The Ballista is slightly understable at high speeds and easily gets out to 400' on a smooth release. It's been great for hyzer flips and long winding s curves. The rim is a bit wide in the hand, but that doesn't stop me from throwing it often. For more stability and mashability, check out its big sister, Ballista Pro.

This is not a begginer disc, but then very few high speeds are. I have this in every plastic available and the snow lines are my preferred, just for feel. This is a bit fast and has a much wider rim than the trespass but has roughly the same lines and just a tad more distance for my arm. small hand will not enjoy the rim, and those without arm speed will have to flex this more than they should to get desired flight. The opto has proven to be even a tad less stable than my air , which seems odd but is the case in more than a few trilogy molds.

I have used the ballista as my go to big distance driver for around 2 years. When thrown in the right conditions (calm or tailwind) I consistently bite off chunks of distance around 375-400 feet. Into a headwind it does have the tendency to turn and burn, but latitude 64 addressed this issue well with the release of the ballista pro! The ballista serves it's purpose well, and should be considered for any intermediate players bag. It has been a game changer for me!

I primarily use this disc for forehands and turn over shots. when thrown hard enough on a forehand this disc can get MASSIVE distance. im not a particularly hard thrower but i have gotten this disc out to 450 and still had a good right turn at the end of the flight. It also turns nicely on a turn over and can be thrown very far. I recommend this disc highly.

The Ballista is a funny disc. I tried one out thinking that it might be a good alternative to a King, and since it had been rating out more stable than the King usually reviewed I thought it could be a next step for me.

It's certainly got a bigger rim, and may have a touch faster flight, but these were not as stable for me as the ratings or numbers suggest. Thrown flat they liked to drift very far right, and if there was any wind I had a hard time keeping them in the air. It reminded me of some flippy TP Kings I've had, and I just did have a place for it.

It's a good disc, but wasn't for me.

Ballista has become my go to driver. I have an earlier run one that's got more dome and it's slightly stable but broken in its perfect.  I have another one that's a little lighter that I can control tighter shots. And a heavy one for more overstable shots. Some of them start beefy but take the time to break them in an they are gold. Good glide and just enough turn to get a good long line. Highly recommended

I picked up one of these in 174g opto based on the flight numbers to replace my beloved lost ape "my favorite forehand disc". after a few times sending it down field I'll say that it's ridiculous fast and has quite a bit of turn "I'd  give it about a 14/4/-2/+2". Bogus numbers aside this disc is a bomber! great  for hyzer flipping or big flex turnover shots. It's not the greatest for forehand, but I highly recommend it for backhand  flex shots. I bag 2 of them

    Holy Rim Width, Batman!

So to start off: I have smaller hands, especially for my height and size. I do throw Westside Giants and Swords for big distance shots but Im much more comfortable with smaller, control driver rim widths.

That said, I won a 172g Opto Ballista at the Next Generation Tour Finals (along with 3 other discs and a towel) for taking 8th out of 36 in MA2. The other discs I had already thrown, but the Ballista I had not. For the past week or so I've been giving it a pretty thorough workout.

For me, the closest I can think of to compare this disc to is actually an Innova Destroyer. Backhand, I was able to get some turn and a pretty big, but not dumpy, fade. My torque-laden forehand produced much more turn, but a similar fade at the end of flight. I was highly impressed with the glide in this disc. Even for a Swedish disc, the Ballista is delightfully glidey. However, it's inherent stability level will ensure that winds dont take it awry.

Ballista is a good disc that I wont use because of the rim width. If you have longer fingers and are looking for a glidelier and slightly faster Destroyer, check out the Ballista.

This is a disc for big distance shots! Not quite as overstable as I had thought, but definitely comes back hard at the end. It has a pretty wide rim on it. If I had to choose between this disc and the Innova Colossus, I would probably choose the Colossus for many of the similar shots. However, the Ballista would be a better choice in a headwind for sure. It's able to fight the wind pretty well.

    Disclaimer: Forehand dominant driving

The first Ballista I picked up was more stable than my recent 2. The one thing I have to say is that it's dependable. Once you learn how your Disc fly's, just dial it in, then it is spot on. I have a 174 & 168. I have thrown the 168 more often, realizing that I need to get an understanding of the speed to turn ratio.

A few open courses gave me room to practice. The Ballista will go where you aim it , low tunnel to fade or s-line, check. High glide fade, check. High OR low flex shot, check (it's capable, just need the speed). Anyone that can throw a discs a few dozen times and sense the flight can work with the Ballista. Keep in mind it is highly effective, but relies heavily on speed and form.

ALTHOUGH, this Disc is brutal to bad form. I have learned from being patient, you know when it happens. Good to moderate form and you can work with this!

    Tips:

If anything, it demanded I improve my follow through.

Buy a lower weight to get the feel for it.

I first tried a Ballista in Snow Line when they were released for the Scandinavian open. The Ballista in Snow Line is a very different disc than Opto. If you are buying an Opto, hoping it will be as domey and stable as the special Snow release, then you are going to be a little disappointed. However, with a fresh perspective and no expectations, the Opto Ballista is a fantastic disc.

I will say that the disc beats in very strangely, the ratings can be a little misleading, but overall it's great. When I first got my stiff Opto 171g Ballista I currently bag, it was dead strait and nothing else. Then it started to flip a little bit, then a little more, now a lot. It is currently a light hyzer-flip disc, even at 4,500 feet elevation. It will flatten on a light anhyzer, and with enough air will come out of its turn. As I said before, it has broken in unpredictably.

I now look for slightly domey gummy runs, I'm not sure they fly very differently, but I like how they feel and they seem a little more stable if anything. I also heard that some of the earlier Handeye runs were more stable. I now have a Satellite Runner Handeye in metal flake plastic and that seems substantially more stable than my others.

2 Words. Turn and Burn. I was reading several reviews from multiple websites, watching several videos on youtube. I hand picked out 2 ballista's (thank you infinite discs) in 174 and 173 weights, making sure to do everything to get the right stability and weight. They arrived and I eagerly hit the field only to experience the feeling of purchasing a disc and not being able to use it. No wind, hyzer release, it would flip and walk right without coming back. After a few power/grip adjustments I could control the Ballista, but with the lack of consistency always being on the edge of "turn and burn" it is not going to find my bag anytime soon.

I got this disc in a tournament, and was really looking forward to throwing some bombs with this thing, but it immediately turned and burned. I have really good armspeed, can touch 500 with a prodigy D1 and for me this disc is unusable for air shots, might try rolling it, but for experienced players with a strong backhand, this disc turns right out of the hand and handles the wind poorly.

This disc is amazing! I was lucky enough to grab a Scandinavian Open Snow Line Edition, and have fallen in love. I use this disc on super long drives that I don't want to worry about popping up too much, and that I want a good amount of fade from. The speed 14 is no joke, as this thing rips through the air. I have heard others refer to this disc as somewhere between a Westside Discs' World and King, and I would say that is spot on, but leaning a little bit more towards the World in Tournament Plastic than the King, which flips up more often.

This disc gives a really predictable high speed turn, then drops out of the air at the perfect time. I would give this disc a higher Glide rating for this reason, as it stays up in the air a lot longer than a 4 rating would suggest. Pick this disc up if you are looking for a predicatble bomber or just a beautiful disc in general!

The Ballista goes #BOOM... Simple as that. This disc isn't necessarily for a beginner, nor the faint of heart, but Lat64 nailed this one. This disc is exactly what I've wanted in Opto since the Team Stamped Snows were produced. The Deco and So versions were MUCH more OS, but the beauty in this disc is how fast it covers ground and how well it can shape shots. It's a beautiful thing, and if you've got the form, and the arm, you can cover a LOT of ground with this disc, trust me.

plastic feels good as expected and the disc feels nice, too. it was a lot more understable than i expected, but flies beautifully. when thrown at speed, it will start turning almost immediately and will hold the turn for most of the flight and fade very late. i wouldn't trust it in a headwind, but could be a good for shaping longer shots. my 171g has a very late fade and needs a lot of air to have the room fight out of a turn.

edit: after shelving it, i picked it up again now that i have more confidence in my speed control and hyzer flipping. because it's a fast disc, it will eat up distance very quickly, cutting through the air with ease compared to most discs i've thrown. i think the biggest arms will have a tough time keeping it from turning, and even more so in a headwind, but it flies far if you find the right angle. it's pretty decent for uphilll drives because of it's high speed turn, and has a nice stable flight path that gets surprising distance when powering down for accuracy. i've had my longest drives with this disc even though i've been experimenting with some light weight drivers. intermediate arms will probably love this disc.
