    XT Details

Innova's XT material is a midgrade plastic that feels similar to DX, but that is substantially more durable. This is a tough grippy blend that is popular for putters and midrange discs.

The extra wide walls with the xt plastic make for a great spin putter. It sticks to the chains and drops. I love the aviar, and this was a very easy upgrade.

I'm finding drives to be a little inconsistent, but that may be because the shape is more malleable than say my aviar. Innova says XT is amazing all-weather grip, but I find that if this disc gets wet at all, the water will adsorb (not a typo) and thus it will be a lot more slippery than wiped off DX plastic, but feels overall feels like a huge upgrade. If you hit a tree or something, it will deform, but will very easily be bent back into shape. I've been playing a shorter course and typically reach for this disc.

I was very surprised that I didn't come across this disc earlier because I see it as a solid improvement over my favorite disc for putting and approaching: the KC Aviar. The Whale has a very comfortable grip and is great for putting, approaching, and driving.

I have only been playing seriously for about 7 months but this is by far my favorite putter out of the 5 or 6 that I have tried out. I use the XT plastic for putting and a Gstar for approach shots. What I love about this disc is how straight it is with no turn and a very minimal fade, regardless of how hard it is thrown. It is my go-to putter and for straight approaches inside of 200ft or so. Handles the wind pretty well, but a good headwind will cause it to turn just a tiny bit, but not much. It is a fairly deep putter but I have larger hands and it is very comfortable for me.

As is the case with many below, I tried this disc on a whim and have been thoroughly impressed. The flight of my XT Whale is not far from how one might expect a majestic blue whale to glide through the water. It's slow, straight, resists torque, and exhibits a rubbery exterior that clings to the basket. As of now I'm debating between switching to this as my main putter or staying with the D-line P2. I only wish infinite would refill it's XT inventory as the only XT Whales available are low weight (I had to find a max weight mold on ebay).

I love all Whales.  I started putting with them then flirted with Wizards, Bergs, Rekos and Judges for years before joining the Pod. They have surprising HSS for a putting putter with minimal fade if thrown hard.  In XT (puddle-top!) this is my go-to spin putter if not windy (then I go DX Rhyno).  In GStar it can carve up the woods on drives.  I wish Innova would make a normal production run in Star or Gummy Champ, though.

My XT Whale is a 175g I find it works very well as a driving putter out to 200 to 250 feet or so.  I don't care for it as a putting putter.  When putting I end up hitting the rim of the basket and ending up short on my putts. The Whale just seems to not want to fly it wants to be thrown with some power on it.  If you are looking for a nice driving putter the Whale would be a good one.  I do like the feel of the Whale in the hand very nice grip with the XT plastic.

I bought the XT WHALE on a whim just to give it a try. That has been one of the better decisions, as far as disc buying, that I have made. It flies super strait, glides very well and has almost zero fade. What more could you ask for. The semi-deep rim might not be an attractive feature for everyone but it fits me just fine. My main go-to putter is an XT COLT but every now and then I throw the WHALE just for kicks and I like it more every time I throw it. I could easily use this disc as my go-to and not have any worries. If you got a few spare bucks grab a WHALE, it is a very nice disc.

I was impressed with this disc from the first throw.  I have been going through a spell where I couldn't decide between a beaded putter and a beadless putter.  I thought that I would give this a shot, and I haven’t had turned back since.  This thing has the flight and glide like a beadless putter, but has a nice little bead to let me know that my fingers are in the proper spot every time I go to put which is helps with my putting confidence.  This putter is nice to just aim and shoot because of the little fade.  It makes a great throwing putter as well!  I notice that when thrown, it is dead straight with minimal fade at the end.

I got one of these from a local Ice Bowl I played. At first I was very impressed. The disc is very true to the flight chart. Dead straight with very little low speed turn. I throw RHBH and this disc has been excellent for tight up shots. I liked the disc so much I purchased a XT First Run from Infinitediscs.com. The grip and feel of the XT plastic is absolutely incredible. In my opinion the XT flies the same as DX but is more durable.

A beaded putter that doesn't feel like it has one, I like my XT Whale. This is a putter than can hold any line you put it on, whether putting, upshots, or off the tee. Having only used the disc for a short time, it hasn't made it into a constant pick when I'm taking an upshot or putt. What I have done with it is throw off the tee on short holes where a straight shot is needed. One hole in particular is a downhill 150-175ft hole where too far left or right blows any chance for a birdie. The Whale holds a straight enough line that I could nestle it within 20 ft for a birdie opportunity without having to try some crazy line with a midrange or fairway drive.

I've had a chance to to mess around with the Whale in XT plastic the last few days and I am very impressed. Off the Tee this disc hits whatever mark you are trying to throw it on, as a guy who sometimes struggles with O.A.T. when driving with putters, the whale showed a supreme amount of high speed stability. No matter how hard i threw it (max distance with this disc for me was about 250'-260') it would not turn and burn. Even when i throwing it into a gusty headwind it would simply turn over but instead of flipping into a cut roller it would glide out the line all the way to the ground.

On top of the high speed stability, this disc showed very little low speed fade. At the end of flight when thrown flight I only saw maybe 1 or 2' worth of movement to the left before the disc landed. If placed on an anhyzer line the disc would hold the line all the way to the ground. I was very impressed with it's shot shaping ability.

A word on the XT plastic, I decided to see how tough this plastic really was so I decided to work on some upshots and putter drives in the middle of the asphalt parking lot behind my work. Simply put if the plastic can hold up to that kind of abuse there really isn't anything on a normal course that should put this disc out of the game for good. I was very surprised how well it held up, despite intentionally forcing the disc to land on the bead several different times, i found very little wear on the bead (some black discoloration was the only major effect on that part of the disc). The disc did seem to pick up road rashes on the nose quite easily, but the surprising part is that I did not notice a major change in the flight of the disc.

To summarize I was pleasantly surprised with this disc, and while i primarily use Rhyno's for upshots and putt's inside the circle, this disc could easily find a place in my bag for short straight drives and putt's outside the circle that could use a bit of glide to get there.

If I had to putt with an Innova putter. I would chose an XT Whale. To me, this disc just feels right. It is tall, bulky, floaty, and has a nice little bead. The XT plastic is nice and grippy, yet it is also nice and stiff which works well for my push putt technique. I primarily putt with a base plastic putter, and while my practice putters are getting pretty beat up with gashes in the edges just from indoor practice putts, I don't think I'd have that problem with XT Whales, this plastic is impressively tough for a grippy base plastic feel.

As a driving putter, the Whale has a deeper rim that what I prefer. The XT plastic is also a bit too grippy for me to get a consistent clean release without it occasionally sticky to my hand. This disc is plenty stable for me, and does not turn over, but it is definitely not overstable, just nice and straight and holds the line well.

The nice grippy XT blend also works well for me for short approach shots of less than 100 feet when I use a fan grip. With as stable as it is, I was also impressed with how well it held an anhyzer line, it rarely ever came out. Overall I would recommend the Whale as a solid all purpose putter.

This thing is a beam from 100ft and in. Anything beyond that distance and it wants to turn with very little to no fade at the end. I would recommend this disk to anyone.
