I put this disc in the bag as my loseable hyzer flip disc that still goes far, and after a few throws, I think I nailed that slot. DOn't get my wrong, this disc is great. Lots of hyzer flip up, maybe turn a little, and fade. But if this disc ends up in a watery grave, I wont't lose any sleep.

I really like this disc for long turning shots and hyzer flips. I wouldn't trust it in a headwind, but it's "beefier" than the numbers may suggest. I can throw it firm on a flat line and it will ride right with a gentle forward fade. It will definitely turn and burn if you crank on it, but it's not dainty or temperamental in Champion plastic. I'll even trust it for flip up or turning forehand shots.

I've spent a lot of money trying different discs by different manufacturers for a lot of slots in my bag, but I've probably spent the least on this slot because this disc suits my hand and needs so well. I have held/thrown/tried Sidewinder, Avenger SS, and Sphinx from other's bags and they're all fine and give me similar flights, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Great understable disc! You can flip it up for some nice controlled shots or throw some big rollers.

I have the Roadrunner in **Star plastic** (not champion) and throw RHFH. It's not quite broken in yet, but let me say, in it's current state, it is a great understable distance driver even for a forehander, and it's minimal fade is great for narrow fairways. . It's large amount of turn makes it great for beginner backhanders, though i don't think it flies at a -4 turn. In it's current state (and in Star plastic), it feels more like -2.5. It's very rare that i turn it over. Love this disc - my go-to distance driver in a tail / no wind.

One of my favorite understable fairway drivers nice flip and for beginners it's great for getting distance without needing a lot of power. Would recommend I prefer the star plastic and I've owned 4 different ones and I've loved them all.

This review is for a Champion Roadrunner.

I bought this disc as my first "driver" after getting acclimated with my starter pack. I had worn out the cheap plastics, and I was ready for something durable. I came across this disc, looking for something understable for beginner-friendliness. This disc is just that. Thrown flat, I was immediately able to get a relatively straight flight path with a reliable fade. I didn't have a ton of skill, but this disc went the distance for me. In fact, 100% of my drives were between the Roadrunner and Lat64 River.

Now that I am more seasoned, and so is the disc, I love to use this disc for hyzer-flips.Throw this disc on a slight hyzer, and it will pop up flat, ride to the right a bit (RHBH), and then fade over to the left. Perfect use for tunnel shots or holes that end up slightly to the left. Whenever I lose this disc I will be replacing it the same day.

The champion roadrunner was me and my friends first champion disc we ever threw and it was my buddies go to driver for a long time. I have seen this disc do literally anything you could want and when I gave it a try I was amazed that it was the case. The roadrunner is understable enough that you can throw it on hyzer and get this thing to ride straight for a long time and with enough hyzer you can get it to fade out, you can make it end straight, or get it to slowly anhyzer out at the end. It is a quite touchy disc to get used to but with enough practice and understanding of angles you can manipulate this disc at will. I find that it is a beginners, and any level after that, woods disc. If you are a new player the roadrunner may be straight to stable but as you learn the disc and get better form you will watch it become something that you can do everything with. I love the feeling of the disc with not too shallow and the champion plastic holds up super well. I would be amazed to find anyone that would hate the roadrunner if they take time to learn it and have correct form. I can see this disc being frustrating because it takes a lot of understanding and if you throw incorrectly it will not work well for you. But if you let this disc teach you how to throw and you use it to its full capability you will find it will be a fallback whenever you need it. This disc is a great roller disc on top of its top notch in air ability which makes this a super versatile mold for every skill level.

I got this disc in 170 grams in Champion plastic.  I was hoping to use it for hyzer flips that finish to the right as well as for shots that turn into a roller when I throw them with a touch of anny of flat.

it turns out that if I throw it flat it does not even try to move to the right and hyzers out pretty early.

I might have just gotten a dud, but it is more overstable than my brand new 170 gram star teebird 3.

It actually isn't a bad disc, it just is not at all what I was expecting.  It works well for small flex shots as well as for sky high rollers.  This disc is the stiffest champion plastic I have ever felt which makes it not bad for a roller, I just have to put it on a lot on anhyzer to get it to roll.

I really wanted this disc to be understable, so I put it on some wood and whacked it with another piece of wood for 30 minutes or so, I also threw it into a wood wall in my backyard for a couple hours to work on my form as well as beat it in, and I put it in the dryer for another couple hours trying to make it somewhat understable.  I went out to a field to see if it worked but it didn't, it maybe was equal stability to my teebird 3 after hours of 'seasoning'.

I am thinking about getting another Roadrunner and hope it is somewhat understable.

I just got this 168 champion roadrunner today and I must say I'm dissapointed with it out of the box. I go out to the field and throw it with a touch of hyzer and it never even thinks about flipping up. If I throw it flat, it will just go dead straight and finish slightly left(RHBH). I think this thing might need some beating in, and I will try seasoning it using various methods. Right now, it's pretty much like a longer leopard3 for me, as it has a very similar flight path. On the bright side, I can throw this thing just as far, if not farther than my pro wraith. and they have very similar flight paths. Like I said, I will try seasoning this and see if I can throw the hyzerflips I wanted to with this disc, and I might be changing my review soon.

It's a good disc, but it wasn't really what I thought it would be. I have three different Discraft Heats, and really, the roadrunner felt pretty much like one of them. It's easy to hyzerflip, it turns over when thrown flat, and with a hint of anhyzer, it usually becomes a roller, but nothing outwardly special. I feel that I have a better connection with my Heats than this roadrunner. That "usually" part is why I took the star off. When I throw a Heat, I know which way it will come out of a hyzerflip, I know how far its going to turn, I know how to throw it to make it into a useful roller. The roadrunner feels a touch more finicky. I can throw it to become a BH roller, but unless I want to drop it on the ground right away, I have a lot more difficulty controlling its flight portion of the roller. Finally, I consistently out-throw the Roadrunner with all three of my Heats. It's not by much, but it's consistent.

This disc is a lot of fun and will put a big smile on your face if you’re not a huge thrower on the regular. My Leopard3 is my go-to driver for accurate shots but if I have a wide open throw, you better believe this one is coming out of the bag! Tonight was my first time using it and I was able to get it up to 420’ whereas I normally throw my Leopard3 a consistent 320’ so that’s quite the difference! The Roadrunner stays REALLY straight if you don’t power it up all the way but when you DO power it up, the high-speed turn helps you get SO MUCH extra distance. I wish I were more accurate with it but something tells me I’ll really only use this when I have a wide open fairway (which isn’t often!) so that’s kind of a bummer. Overall, if you have decent form and can throw around 300’ already then you should absolutely get this disc and you’ll notice a big increase in distance when the hole allows it. Satisfied customer!

This was my first understable control driver and I feel like I picked a really good one. In the right or non-existent wind, this is very controllable and does a great hyzer flip or turnover shot. It also goes surprisingly far! My average arm distance is 390 with distance drivers and I can get this to get 360ish pretty regularly in the field. I don't have experience with rollers but I know whenever I try to work on that shot this will be the disc I will grab.

Won a 168 Champion Firebird in the early summer this year, have been pretty impressed so far. Awesome understable control driver for anyone to try or bag if you need a utility disc on the understable side of the spectrum. Great for long days or when you’re sore from other activities, as well. Great trainer for developing other throwing styles, too.

Feels very similar to a Firebird in the hand, way easier to get up to speed though, and throws on the opposite side of the stability range, more like a Discraft XS. Anybody who needs an outside curve who hasn’t yet developed a forehand throw should practice with both of these discs, imho. Thrown backhand with good spin, they will sail outward with even a slight anny angle. Both of these discs are very good teachers of basic forehand form, but they’re super tolerant of higher power throws with little spin. I consider myself an intermediate forehand thrower and am able to trust these two discs to go where I want them to at my current skill level, but they aren’t really helping me perfect the throw or develop more spin, either.

At the same time, you can count on the Roadrunner to fly super straight at higher elevations (7000’ and up). Thumbers, Scoobies and Tomahawks are a lot more predictable with this than most else I bag, though normally I choose something in the 4-7 speed range for those throws. (Save your shoulders!!! Lol)

Mine’s still pretty fresh, but as it breaks in, I want to try more rollers with it—lotsa folks on here say they love it for that, but I don’t know enough about rollers yet to really comment on it. It rolls, for sure—would be nice to update this when I feel more confident I know what I’m doing when throwing ‘em.

Though I have not thrown any other weight of Roadrunner yet, I feel pretty confident in suggesting someone gets a slightly lighter weight if they’re good at one throw but want to develop another...I feel I can put extra spin on it backhand pretty consistently to make up for the throttled-back power to keep the disc low at this weight, yet it’s still manageable enough to rip a little harder forehand to make up for the spin I don’t have yet out there. It also has enough glide to fly as intended during escape shots like scoobies and overhand stuff. Normally, high speed high glide seems like an excuse to not work on proper form, but I swear this does exactly what I need it to when escaping, compared to something slower and less glidey that would make sense for the dynamics of such a throw. Again, imho, but try it yourself and see.

I started disc golf in 7th grade and this was the disc to teach me how to drive and give me that confidence. Now back from a Hiatus, well...I'm huking destroyers so this is my roller and long anny disc.

This disc does exactly what it is meant to do and is very comfortable to throw. I don't know if I completely understand roller dynamics, but it always seems to just work out so beautifully with my 172 Champ Roadrunner than anything else I roll! I throw it on a hefty anny line moderately high so it does some of it's own flying and flipping before it lands a little bit before 90 degrees. Usually about 150 ft later it will start to turn over.

There's something beautiful about an effortless and picturesque roller going as far as a backhand rip with a speed 13 disc. Basically, if you're looking to get into rollers THIS IS YOUR DISC.

Also very useful for anny shots, long floaty C shape Hyzers because of it's flip up and glide, and have used it for controlled tunnel shots on about 65% power. Love this disc!

The Roadrunner is an outstanding beginner distance driver, along with an amazing utility disc for more experienced players. This things is great for standstill shots, flip up forehands, and rollers. It is also going to give newer players some easy distance, as it doesn't require a ton of power to get working. This disc is also a great option for wooded courses that require technical shots through small gaps. The Roadrunner could be a great disc for anyone's bag.

This disc is great for those who are trying out Distance Drivers for the first time.  I don't have a lot of power when it comes to my backhands, but this disc helps to make up for that, with the ample amount of turn and the added glide.  It helps me get some easy extra distance for my backhand shots.  I am primarily forehand (90%), and this disc helps me to get nice super straight flicks.  I recommend this disc as a beginners first Distance Driver.  Start with the understable discs and then work your way up.  In the end you will still end up with a nice understable disc that will still be plenty useful to you.

This is a disc that every beginner should absolutely get very quickly in their development. First off, it is incredibly easy to throw and get to flip up. This will be the first disc that you can throw 250 on, and possibly the first disc that you can throw 300 on. What surprised me the most with this disc was just how smooth the release is on this disc. It just feels comfortable, the rim is incredibly smooth and honestly is part of what kept me playing this game through the ups and downs of beginning this sport. The best part of this disc is now that I have progressed past throwing it backhanded, it remained in my bag as a roller.

For intermediate players, this disc is beyond excellent for rollers. Like I said, it is so comfortable in the hand and it is easy to release, so you will get a very consistent release from it. It's edge is the perfect thickness, not blunt but not sharp, to give you a nice consistent roller line. Once you've turned this disc over backhanded, use it as a roller and it has an entire second life in your bag!

The roadrunner is a unique disc.  It's great for rollers, but I usually use it for long anhyzer flip shots.  If you give it a good rip with some height, it'll turn over and sail for a long smooth flip shot.  It's also a disc that I use to teach beginners how to throw a distance driver, as it's more beginner friendly than a lot of other discs in that category. Great disc to have in the bag!

First Roadrunner I ever bought has so far been one of the best discs I've ever gotten my hands on. Very pretty, slightly pearly salmon/orange sunset/ bubblegum pink color with a blue foil stamp. Shows very well on green. 172 grams being slightly heavy, but that's fine. I've birdied so many holes with this disc already since I bought it about a week ago, it has quite a bit of understable nature to it. Throw a hyzer line and it wants to fly straight until the end. (I throw LHBH.) I bought another one some time ago, which, I unfortunately lost. It was more stable than my pink one. And how I deduced this even before I threw it, was because of the differences of the rims on both discs. The pink one has a more open rim than the red one. So, if you find a roadrunner with a rim that slants inwards towards the center. I suggest picking it up, because you'll more than likely find a treasure like I did that will allow you to throw very accurately through trees, and straight and low down fairways to skip and roll up nice and pretty next to the basket. Just walk up and toss the roadrunner in. Another note, if you anhyzer that particular kind of disc, it'll like to keep going all the way in that direction. The red one with the less tilted rim will come back.

4 stars. Champion Roadrunner, 174g. The Champion RR is a fine bh control driver. Champion plastic usually has less turn and more fade than the flight numbers indicate, and may not break in for years. If you have good control of your release angles you could use this disc for most of your drives where accuracy trumps distance. You can control your distance well too as it glides poorly and just falls to the ground when it runs out of steam. And, just for comparison, my Discraft Big Z Heat has more fade, glide and distance with a little less control. And my DD Lucid Escape turns and fades less, but glides more and is the better choice for going straight down the middle.

This is probably the best roller disc out of the box that I have ever used. I have thrown some awesome shots with this disc, and I think it has more to do with it than it does my skill. BH roller City! I played my first round ever with a champion roadrunner 162g and it became a go to for me while i was learning in 2011, I could rely on it for straight shots before I developed my footwork/speed/power. Nowadays Im using it for  BH Anhyzer lines, BH rollers and if wind is cooperating downhill Ace Runs. with some field practice if you work on throwing this disc fast and with some anny on it, you will see that the roller Hype is real. if I come to a hole that is short grass, and slopes right to left, the Roller is an instant consideration for me.

I was expecting this disc to be a great roller disc for me. I got the champion plastic because I knew it would be durable no matter what it rolls on or into. I haven't broken this disc in a ton yet and it will take a while to break in the champion plastic. I'm sure this is a great disc, but it isn't doing what I want it to do right now which is very fast turnover rollers. I still roll this disc but I have to force it more than I want. It is a very good disc for straight flight with not a lot of fade at the end. If you are looking for a roller disc I would suggest buying it in a different plastic.

This was one of the first discs I bought to try and fix my problem of fading too far to the left.  I had been primarily using a Leopard, but it just wasn't working out when I needed a straight throw.  I picked up one of these and was throwing much further and straighter with little effort on my part.  Eventually I switched to the star light plastic version of the Road Runner, but I still keep my champion in the bag and use it for quite a few shots.  This is a great disc for beginners and seriously helped my game.

I'm with the people who think the turn number is off. I throw Beast, Leopard, Daedalus and I have Rocs and Buzzz's that are so beat they're good for nothing but turnovers.  So, yeah, I know understable discs.  My Champ RR is more stable than any other disc in my bag. I actually only use it consistently on two holes on my home course.  Uphill hard dog leg left, almoat 90 degree turn 150' away and an elevation change of 20' then it's 75' left to the basket.  Released with just a slight hyzer, chest high, the RR goes directly to the basket every time.

Then I'll use it for any time I want to skp under something to the left or fly long and stright with a hard and quick fade at the end.  In fact, I've been asked more than once if that was a Firebird I just threw.

I know this isn't typical but I'm sure glad because this disc almost guarantees 2 birdies and 2 ace runs, every time I play.

Im throwing a 172 Champion Roadrunner and really digging it for shot placement at 2-300'. Really easy to flip and get distance while still having good control. Finishes really straight with just a little fade back on a hyzer flip. Seems more stable than the -4 turn printed on the disc, but Innova seems to be updating the turn numbers printed on newer Champion discs. It does finish right if you throw a flat RHBH.

I purchased a 167g Champion Roadrunner after losing my beat DX Wraith (roller) expecting a great out of the box (even though it didn't come in a box, you get the metaphor) roller. However, what I received was one of the most versatile airborne discs I have ever thrown. It is definitely understable, but was WAY more toward the stable end of the understable spectrum than I was expecting (owing to the -4 turn flight number). It is a fantastic turnover disc and is more and more often the disc I go to for turnover shots. It is also a fantastic hyzer flip disc. I even use it occasionally for forehands (not usually further than 230, but it can achieve a nice short S-curve from a gentle forehand drive that is very difficult to achieve with other discs). However, as other reviewers have mentioned, the key to this disc is finesse. If you try to kill it, it will dive into the ground because it doesn't like to be killed! :). But... treat it gently, and you will get some of the most beautiful turnovers and hyzer flips you have ever seen. One final thing I received when I bought this disc... a good roller!

I have a 168 Champ Roadrunner that I keep in my bag as a get out of trouble disc. It's fairly understable, even though it's not that broken in. It works great as a utility disc for tunnel shots, fairway shots that I want to bend to the right (RHBH), and as a roller. My Roadrunner is controllable just as long as I don't throw it too hard. This disc is probably best for intermediate players. Oddly enough, I too originally bought this disc for my wife to use. I liked it so much that kept it and got her an MVP Amp, which is practically the same thing.

I have a 168g Roadrunner in Champion that I found in the bushes. After seeing the flight ratings, I was expecting a big "anny" disc, and some easy turns. The disc seems to turn well, but for me it seems to be more of a -3 for turn rather than the advertised -4. And it can be helpful sometimes to have that much turn with very little fade rather than a typical s-curve that most understable discs have. What I love to do with this disc is give it a little bit of a hyzer release, and watch it flip flat and just ride a rope dead straight and land consistently around 300ft. Very useful "tunnel shot" disc in the woods for me.

I find myself reaching for my Roadrunner more often, especially when a strong head-wind blows and I need to keep the disc low. I've gone the bag many times looking for just the right disc that won't be carried way off-mark. I just love it. The Champion Roadrunner hopefully will be there in my bag for a long time.

i love this disc. i throw it on a hyzer flip and it goes FAR. also if i need to finish to the right (RHBH) i can throw it flat and count on it. buy one, no wait, buy TWO!

I love the roadrunner. This is the first disc I was able to consistently throw for more than 300 feet with for backhand throws. I can't throw the Roadrunner forehand, it's too understable, but for backhand shots this disc gave me max distance while I was still learning form, and now makes for a nice right turning driver.
