This is my go-to disc for dead straight shots or gradual left to right gradual turns with my backhand. My XT plastic is pretty seasoned and I can crank in this disc without a big flip. I can rip it as hard as I want and it will gradually turn the whole flight ever so softly, but consistently. If you are a finesse thrower I recommend giving this disc a try.

I have been looking for a replacement putter/disc to my Classic Roc.  I love the flat, shallow rim feel of this disc.  On long approaches give it a little hyzer and watch it flip and drift towards the basic.  As for putting, I am super happy.  The feel of the XT plastic is great.  I own 2 DX Colts for distance approaches and 2 XT Colts for putting.  Bummed I can't get the Classic Roc anymore but this is a great replacement.

I purchased a few Colt's in XT plastic about two years ago, one around 160 grams and another about 170. I've really liked the feel of the XT plastic. DX is usually a bit chalky for me and being someone with really dry hands, the chalkiness tends to be a little slippery for me. But XT has more of a rubbery, sticky feel to it while also being pretty stiff. So that inspires confidence when putting or throwing approach shots. In the hand it feels pretty shallow and flat on top with a comfortable micro-bead to place your finger if that's your style. The 160 gram disc is more of a turnover disc if throwing with 250 foot power while the 170 gram can hyzer flip and then glide straight for a while. For putting, it's probably more conducive to spin putting, and it produces a nice straight flight out of the hand to the basket. All around a nice disc to pick up if you're interested in a neutral-slightly understable putter that doesn't feel deep in the hand

Obviously, the same mold in a different weight can feel like a different disc entirely. This has never been more true for any putt or approach platform than the Colt. I own two, one in 148 gm DX, and another in 170+ gm XT. The first disc's one of the worst putters probably ever made. I would prefer to play Ultimate Frisbee with a dinner plate full of haggis for three days at gunpoint than attempt a ten foot putt with a lightweight Colt. You will be at the mercy of the wind and you can expect an extraordinary amount of spit-outs with the light mold. The second disc, the heavier one, is an absolute joy to use as a proper, well rounded putt and approach. The plastic is grippy and the flight is absolutely arrow straight, probably the straightest flying disc Innova has ever made. This encourages a bit of extra venom during putt attempts, something I need to inject more of into my putting game anyway. I feel more than any other disc type, putters vary in personal preferance more than distance and fairway drivers and midrange discs, so this is with a grain of salt when I say I can't see myself using any other kind of putter.

    PROS: Comes in heavy weights.

    CONS: Comes in light weights.

The Colt is my go-to putter. I was transitioning from Aviar's to Firefly's when during a practice round a league mate comment how much smoother my putts were with Rhynos and Pigs.

I decided to use a shallower putter and found the Colt. It flies far and smooth and feels great in the hand. It feels like it cuts through the air with is. It does not fade much and is great for longer putts.

The XT plastic feels great in the hand. It is a little grippy and soft but still maintains its integrity. Those looking for a shallow putter should look no further.

This is my "go to" jump putt/long range putter. I'm sure it works great as a main putter, but I prefer a P2. This thing has so much glide that it doesn't require a lot of power for long putts. The XT plastic is very grippy, so you can give longer putts a good run at it without have to worry about roll aways as much. I used to use an XT Dart for this type of shot but I have found the Colt to be much more comfortable and effective as a jump putter. Don't be afraid to give this one a shot (no pun intended) if none of the other Innova putters seem to feel right for long range putts.

The colt has one of the straightest and most neutral flight paths out of any disc. The colt has a shallow feel to it in the XT plastic, with a thinner rim than most putters the colt comes out of the hand relatively fast and has great glide. The colt seasons into a great turnover putter and works well for hyzerflips and soft flicks. I would rate this disc five stars, but the feel of the rim takes a while to get used to, and finding a comfortable grip was difficult for me, however its flight was beautiful. I highly recommend this disc for beginners.

Started off with a DX version and fell in love. A short but sweet review here.

I like the profile alot, it compares to an Innova Stud, but is just a bit deeper. Like maybe a mm or so. The XT plastic version is what I throw now full time. This putter works great off the tee with fulll power release from a backhand. Soft flicks work this mold great as well.

Putting is a breeze from circle 2. For me, this disc does not like a headwind of over 10mph.. unless really thrown flat with gumption.

All time favorite, getcha' one.. or TEN!!

Out of the box, the XT Colt is laser straight. No turn unless you overpower it, and very little fade.  I haven't thrown a speed 3 disc with this much glide either.  It took some practice in a field to understand how far it flew, so I do still bag a P2 for short approaches.  I have smaller hands and the Colt is one of the most comfortable discs I've held.  The rim is too shallow for a power grip for me, but the fan grip is just perfect with the small bead.  It's too soon to tell, but it may end up replacing my understable midrange due to how it just keeps gliding.  I will probably pick up one more XT and a Star Colt as my first one begins to lose its stability.

Like some others I have used various colts and I can attest that they are probably one of the more versatile putters on the market. Out of the gate I want to highly recommend if you get a colt and it has raised center of the flight plate to take some hot (but not boiling water) and flat top the disc Google it if you are not sure, the colt really performs better when its top is perfectly flat. I'll split this review up into 2 parts, putting and throwing. For reference the colts I own are:

2 XT prototype colts: these are more like a cross of xt and dx they are not overly stiff like the newer run of XT colt, they are slightly more stable overall as well and suit my putting game inside the circle.

2 XT stock run colts: these are for throwing and outside the circle putts, this run is a bit tackier and more like normal XT as it's come to be known. These are slightly less stable overall and are excellent for touch shots.

1 Star Colt: this admittedly is my least favorite variant of the colt as it seems to be caught between being stable and understable but it makes for a decent driving putter with fantastic glide.

For putting the Proto Colt's are definitely better feeling in the hand and more predictable in the wind they have a very shallow feel which makes them very comfortable for my spin style putt, outside the circle the slightly understable nature of the stock runs makes them ideal candidates for jump putts. Like most putting putters I say it is 90% feel in hand and the rest comes down to performance but I found myself feeling more confident with the longer range putts having a putter that is very straight flying.

As far as throwing goes the Stock Run XT and the Star Colt have an extremely neutral flight they will go laser straight on a smooth throw especially at lower arm speeds. At my armspeed I can get them to carve lines in the woods very well with a slow late flip on a smooth flat release and a nice late hyzer flip on a more powerful throw. I also use these extensively for upshots and for touch anhyzers and the disc will really hold just about any line you put it on with decent reliability.

As far as wind performance goes the Colt suffers in headwind situations since it does not necessarily respond well to the increased speed and lift it can be very unpredictable and as such you really want to make sure you have another disc that can handle this shot for you. Tailwind situations seem to work well as you can throw the disc flat and it will definitely fly the way you it would if you gave it some hyzer.

The Colt is a fantastic disc for beginners as it is very neutral and very forgiving and since it is highly versatile you can use it for everything right off the bat.

Overall the Colt is a mold that probably get's looked over among the litany of other putters out there from Innova, It is a mold that is very workable and it's very shallow feel makes it comfortable for most people. If you haven't tried one I would strongly recommend looking into one.

Love it!  Not only for throwing, putts well too.  I use a fan grip and this shallow putter is great for consistent releases.  I'm a firm believer in "drive for show, putt for dough."  The XT Colt increased my consistency.  On go for it putts it flies straight then fades and drops if you miss, leaving easy comeback putts.  When thrown it does have 4 glide, but when putt it doesn't have too much.  I carry a Star Colt for throwing, its more stable.

p.s.  I don't know why but the orange ones I've ordered in XT plastic have a lumpy top plate.   Every blue one I've bought has been very symmetrical.

I have only had this disc for 3 weeks, and it has quickly become one of my most reliable discs and has me wondering if it should be my putter as well! I got it in the XT plastic at 175 grams, and I absolutely love it! From anywhere about 200 feet and in, I am grabbing the Colt. Flies nice and straight with a light turn at the end, and lands smooth. I have been putting with it here and there and it has me wondering if I should just go with it. The XT plastic grabs the chains really well, and I have had a lot of success using this as a putter from long range. I will probably stick with my other putter, but I will still use the colt for long putts. Love this disc!

The colt is the slightly understable cousin of the Stud. This disc has a fairly neutral flight path and is very handy for short approaches and upshots. While throwing it for distance off the tee may result in a more understable flight than you anticipated, it still certainly has its use. It can also be used for long jump putts as it holds its neutral path well without much power. The XT plastic especially provides a phenomenal amount of grip while still feeling comfortable and solid in the hand, and it grabs the ground without skipping much. This disc would be a tremendous addition to any bag missing a neutral upshot disc.

This disc is awesome. I putt, approach and drive with these with ease. They have a bit of natural turn to them but go straight for both spin putting and push putting alike. The shallowness of the rim is complimented by a bead. It feels a lot different in the hand than most putters, so some may not like the feel of it.

Overall this disc can do almost anything from flipping to hyzer to flipping to flat to flipping to anny. Great for turnovers both backhand and forehand. Basically this disc has worked magic in my bag. Highly recommend for anyone.

I've tried over 10 putters including a Judge, Aviar, Pure, Challenger, Wizard, Nova, and a few others and the Colt Standard was an easy decision. I really prefer the shallow feel and the versatility is unmatched. I putt with it, use it for an approach disc within 150 feet and drive with it when it makes sense. I can get about 250 feet consistently and pretty straight. It will turn a bit in the beginning but never flip over. I throw drivers about 350 feet for reference. I have only tried the XT plastic but I think it is great for putting and driving. I use 175 gram weight.

I received a prototype of the Colt XT 175g as a gift and fell in love with it as an approach disc. I now have one in Star and another XT. The prototype is rated '3' for glide as opposed to '4' for the other two production molds. Perhaps the prototype is a tad bit flatter, but the differences in appearance and flight are barely perceptible. This is a flat, beaded disc.

This thing has replaced my Buzzz for many shots. It flies that far and without extraordinary effort. This disc is flat, grippy in XT (my preference for this disc versus the Star) and reasonably durable thus far although it does warp a bit with the inevitable tree hits. This holds any anhyzer or hyzer line you put on it. Thrown dead straight it will turn slightly at high speed. This thing has improved my approach accuracy by, I'd guess, 20%.

I do putt with the Colt, but my putting is evolving quickly and I can't authoritatively say whether it's the best putter out there or not. It does feel good in the hand, particularly on longer putts. Again, it's so good as an approach disc that I consider it essential even if I didn't putt with it at all.

What can I say about the Colt... Well it has replaced all of my putters and a couple of my mids too. You can use it for high 50m+ turnovers or just hyzer it with lots of spin and it will go serious distance whilst holding the same line. Its a treat for putting and excels at longer distance putts. The XT plastic is super-durable and has no problem surviving the beach course... whereas other discs can perish quickly. The XT you can even throw when wet and it retains most of its grip! Its also relatively cheap and the low-profile is good for fitting in your hand tightly without wobbling around like some bigger rim putters. The only downside is that it has the potential to roll down a hill on occasion.

I picked up a 175g XT Colt to try out its lower profile.  I've tried putting with a number of different putters including the MVP Anode and numerous Aviar derivatives.  While none of these putters are poor discs by any means, I found that I had some struggles getting a consistent grip/release with the deep rims.  I have to say that I have really enjoyed the Colt for this reason, the low profile is extremely comfortable for me to putt with and I have now added several Colts for practice.

In terms of flight, in the circle the Colt is very straight with a healthy amount of glide.  In doesn't hold up in the wind as well as some overstable putters, but it isn't as wind-sensitive as the -1 turn would suggest.  I've found the Colt is also a good option as an approach disc.  The touch of understability can let you craft some interesting lines without being too flippy, although this is possible to do.  The Colt is a good choice if you are looking to stretch out the range of your putters, my game has improved significantly since I've started using my putters for longer approaches.

Overall, Innova did a nice job adding a new putter that wasn't a direct Aviar descendent.  The Aviar is great, but if you've had trouble gripping Aviars, you should definitely give the Colt a try!

    Note: Prototype vs. Production:

This has been mentioned in previous reviews but I feel that this is worth bringing up again.  There are 2 types of XT Colts out there, prototype and production.  The prototype Colts can be identified by the large Innova Protostar stamp or the a small Prototype stamp right above the regular stamp.  The production Colts has no additional stamping.  It's worth paying attention to this as Infinite doesn't differentiate when buying Colts, make sure you check the pictures to know what you are getting!

The production Colts are marked as higher glide than the prototypes (3|4|-1|1 vs. 3|3|-1|1).  It's not too noticeable in the circle but you can see that appear in more powerful shots.  Also, as mentioned in previous reviews the production Colt tends to hold up a bit longer and also feels a bit different in the hand.  Overall, there isn't a game-changing difference between the two, but it may help you if you are getting multiples for practice purposes.

Just like every other disc golfer I was searching for that "perfect" putter. I purchased the COLT because it is a low profile, flat disc. As soon as I received my disc it immediately felt great in my hand. I knew I was going to like it. After using it now I realize that I love it. I like to throw my putt's hard and strait and this disc works great for that. I think I found the perfect putter. I am new to disc golf and as my form changes I might start to like another style of disc but I think the COLT has a place in my bag for a long time. Get one and try for yourself!!

THE BEST PUTTER I HAVE EVER OWNED and I will not play a round without one.

As someone who first putted with drivers without knowing any better I've struggled to find a shallow rimmed putter and never got comfortable with any until now. Even so, I thought I was set putting with my Judges and just picked up a prototype 175 xt colt because buying new discs is fun. I wanted to throw it simply because it was such a different disc with it's squared off, shallow rim and since XT was a new innova plastic. Then I played a few rounds putting with it and love it. It has replaced my judge simply because the shallow rim gives me a more consistent release. Flight is very similar to the judge, maybe just a slight touch more glide. XT is stiffer and grippier than Innova's DX and I think it holds chains way better. I never thought I'd replace my judges for putting, but the Colt just works for me. I'm curious to see how innova changed it from the prototype, but I will definitely try to collect more prototypes before they are gone.

Update: 3 more 175g XT prototypes on the way. The fact that I bought 3 more after a only a month of use speaks for itself. I can't say enough about the XT plastic. It just sticks to chains like no other. The 3 more fly the exact same as the first. I rotate them each round and have never had as much trust in a putter as I do in this one.

Update: 1 more 175g XT prototype first run stamp. Flies the exact same as the others and I rotate putting with one of my 5 colts each round. I've never had the same putting putter in my bag for as long as this mold has been in it. I am the most confident at putting as I have ever been.

Narrow profile putter, I purchased it in XT plastic in 175g to use as a driving putter and for approaches within 100', and it is working out pretty well so far for me (I've used it for about 10 rounds.) Just to give readers of this review an example of what I use as far as other putters go; KC Pro Aviar, 11x champion Aviar, several DX Aviars.

Aside from the narrow profile, the leading edge is blunt, and the XT plastic is very sticky. I actually do not like the feel of it (although I thought I would) for putting, but it is definitely a good disc for throwing a dead-straight 200-220ft with mild fade. Make no mistake, this disc is stable, and it will finish left on a RHBH. You can turn it over, but it IS low speed and it will crash. For me it is best thrown on a flat release, with some space to finish. I would rate it closer to a 0 turn and a 2 fade when new. It does glide on a tailwind as advertised, but it is narrow enough to be thrown safely into the wind without disastrous results. Overall I like it, don't love it, but it will stay in my bag for those times an easily-controlled stable putter approach is needed.

I have struggled my whole disc golf 'career' (Almost 6 years) finding a good putter. I have gone from the Innova Aviar, Discraft Soft Magnet, and even the Gateway Wizard. No dice. So for the past several years I have found myself putting with a Titanium Buzzz, because it was my most trusted midradge/approach at the time, and so I just used it as my putter as well.  I was willing to give putters another try after researching and watching different shots with different discs, I have found the benefits. I decided to try the Colt. Best decision for my game I have had in a while.

First of all -- the colt is super low profile as putters are concerned, and it has a super comfortable grip. While putting in the circle, it is a very "goes where you throw it"-type disc. If you are aiming center post (and of course can throw it accurately), that's where it goes.

Second of all -- My approach game that I had with my buzzz has now been replaced (under most circumstances) as the colt will hold the line that you put it on. It does have a slight fade if you are doing longer shots (anything over 100 ft), but it still holds the straight flight for 80-90% of the time.

Side note: I would have to say, in the innova line, the XT plastic is amazing. Very durable for the time that I have spent with the disc, grippy even in "hot-cold" "wet-dry" conditions. Super consistent.

Personal opinion, if you get a chance to try one out, don't pass it up.

I have a lighter weight XT (165) and a XT (175). I currently just purchased a DX to see how that goes.

New Review as of re-tooling of the disc. If you have an XT Colt that has a large ProtoStar stamp, or has a small "prototype" stamp additional to the production stamp, then you have the old mold of Colt. Here is my initial review of the "old mold" of XT Colt

Prototype and First Run XT Colts
The XT Colt is almost identical to the DX Colt in flight, with a small amount of added stability. They are so similar I would say that XT is just an alternative feel of the disc. I like how the weight is distributed in the XT plastic, it seems to like to sit down better and roll away less (I'll have to test this theory more), but most of all it grabs chains with the extra grip.

If you liked the DX Colt, the XT is a great one to try out too. It flies ultra straight with a nice predictable fade at the end.

I really like  this disc as an approach and driving putter.

    Update to "Old Mold" Review
The prototype and first run colts break in to a very understable flyer. At higher arm speeds this disc will have no stability at all. Out of the box these fly ultra straight and dependable, but they don't hold their stability as they break in. The first run Colt that I had ended up going concave on itself and is extremely understable now.

"New Mold" Colt: If you have a regular production stamp that does not have a small additional "Prototype" target stamp, then you have the current mold of Colt. Here is my review of the current run of Colt

When i heard they changed the mold of the Colt, I was a little disappointed because I had fallen in love with both an XT and a DX Colt. I had to try one out for myself, but this was back in August (2015) When I was on the road touring. I contacted Innova (my sponsor) and they graciously sent me one to the Ledgestone Insurance open so I could try one out. To my surprise, I actually liked the newer Colt way more than I liked the old mold. It is more stable, and the discs are more firm and "full" feeling. The flight is very similar to the old mold, but it holds it's stability very well as it breaks in. The broken in XT Colt from the newer mold is ultra straight. I am in love with this disc, it is so dependable and I love the flight pattern.

It is fast with dependable fade at the end. I use my colt on any straight approach shots and straight tee shots. I can also throw a very nice high anhyzer line with the colt which can be very useful if my forehand can't get the job done.

The Colt was designed to replace the XD and the Classic Roc. I think they did a really good job of making a disc that is right in between the two. I love the Colt and always keep one in my bag.

The Colt is a very unique putter. This is a great straight driving putter for those that like thin profiles and a shallow rim depth. In feel I would compare it most with the Discraft Ringer and the Gateway Chief, only this is a much straigter flying disc. The Colt likes to stay straight and does an pretty good job holding lines. I was able to get almost as much distance driving the Colt as I typically do my midranges, but the flight is definitely more floaty straight putter like. I was parking 260 foot straight line holes with the Colt.

Due to the thin profile, I would higly recommend this putter for those new disc golfers who have been putting with drivers, because that's what they are used to, but now realize there is an advantage to the strait landing that only a putter can provide. The rim of the Colt is so shallow, it almost has the driver feel in the fan grip, and in XT plastic this is a nice and stiff disc, but with excellent grip. It does an excellent job grabbing the chains and staying in the basket.

I liked using the Colt for straight line drives, anhyzer shots, approach shots, long putts, and I think mostly because of the XT plastic liked it for short putts as well even though I typically throw a much deeper putter. This is all around a very good disc, if you like shallow rim depths -- otherwise, you will probably find that this disc feels a little bit awkward.
