Every disc has it's uses, but I never meshed with this one. It wasn't comfortable in the hand, and while I got a few good throws out of it, it never quicked clicked with me. Flight numbers seem appropriate. If it's comfortable in your hand, give it a try!

I'm not sure why this putter isnt more popular. Its a great stable putting putter or can work well as a straight thrower as well.

I would call this the Innova Pure.

It's got a baby bead, and the VTech and I do like it. I used to putt with Pures and I borrowed these from a friend for a round. I will say if you like the Pure but hate getting pushed around in the wind, this is a good option. Pretty good, just can't say that I love DX plastic.

The Colt is a good approach disc that I find useful for short range anhyzer shots and the occasional mild S-shot approach. As such, I think the disc is slightly more understable than what the flight numbers would leave you to believe. It is useful for a limited number of shots but it is a good disc for those niche shots. I put it as four stars because I wouldn't consider it a workhorse throwing putter and is very prone to aggressive turnovers.

My first approach disc and now one of my most used ones. Great hefty feel and reliable straight flight. That said, this can do some pretty fun stuff with hyser and anhyser on it. I recommend giving this a try: this doesn't get enough talk.

This disc will hold really any line you put it on but is great for approach flick shots. Also carries well for an approach disc. Wouldn't recommend for putting in the circle, but works for longer puts where you need extra speed.

One of my first discs, this is a great approach disc for 75-150ft shots.  This used to hyzer out for me when my form was still in the beginning stages but now can throw this very straight.  The DX plastic is great because of its grip.  Love this as an approach disc for beginners/intermediate players!

picked up a 175 colt when i first started along with my starter set. it feels stiff and durable but has taken damage from hitting trees. as an RHFH player i prefer a shallow rim and flat top. the colt's top is not too domey but the rim is a bit to deep for me. i would rather bag this than the polecat but it has been replaced by a classic blend marshall.

I just started out playing DG not too long ago.  This is one of the first discs that I picked up and I love it for approach shots.  The plastic won't hold up too well over time but this is a great disc to get the basics down.  I like the way this feels in my hand better than the Aviar

The Colt is as great entry level disc. It has a shallow grip and flies straight.

Flight: The Colt has a nice neutral flight. It flies straight and glides pretty well for a putter. It will dump a bit a the very end. When putting with this disc, it flies super straight and flies with no lateral motion. Seems to keep its height the whole time until it either hits the chains or falls quickly after them.

Uses: The Colt is good for driving, approach, and putting. I think it shines as a beginner friendly throwing putter AND for putting. Because it flies so straight and has decent glide, it seems to just keep floating straight until it hits something or dumps quickly at the very end. This makes it a great straight thrower and putter disc.

Summary: If the Colt feels good in your hand, then I would definitely recommend it. It's a bit too shallow for my preference, but it sure does fly well. Durable in both XT and DX, this would be a great first disc to give someone.

The Colt is a great neutral flying putter. It really can be thrown on quite a few different lines and it responds to your form. It feels comfortable in hand with a lower profile. For me the disc shined off the tee and for approaches. I really didn't like the disc for in the circle putting.

The Colt is great for approach shots and off the tee on short holes. Super straight throwing. The DX Colt I have is a firmer plastic that other DX discs I own. One thing to note the disc is shallow, the small bead and rest of the shape is really nice.

By far my personal favorite putter. This is great for newbies and experienced players. Very firm disc and throws nicely.

I like that it goes straight for me as a throwing putter.  I am not a fan of the shape in my hand.  This is my straightest throwing putter.

What I'm throwing: 175g DX putting, 175g XT approach, drives. (RHBH)

If you're a fan of a shallow rim and a small bead on your putters, I'm not sure why you would look at any others, if not the Colt.

If neither of those factors mean anything at all to you and that sounded like some ultra-sales-pitchy nonsense, you are probably doing disc golf (and the internet, for that matter) correctly.

DX: The DX Colt has worked well for my spin-putting. The flight is pretty neutral so if you need a left-to-right line, the disc will hold anhyzer pretty much to the ground. Finishes consistently understable when thrown with power; something to keep in mind if you want a driver/approach disc to finish left (RHBH).

XT: Significantly more overstable than DX. Great feel and grip so I occasionally sub this for my DX putter in cold weather. Great for drives and shot shaping as it has some of the understability found in the DX, but with a finish that is much more consistently towards the stable side. XT does not beat-in nearly half as quickly as DX will.

The lower profile of the Colt makes it easier to get a consistent release from a side-arm throw, although it is pretty understable and won't take the torque well if you really try to power it out of your hand. If you're dumping out hard left on a RHFH throw, drop the angle of the disc and the Colt will usually pop up flat and glide straight.

Really versatile disc as far as putters go. Dig it.

I use my Colt as an approach disc since I'm not a fan of beaded putters.  This thing flies straight and sits down, so it has helped my short game tremendously.  On a short course I could use this disc exclusively as it glides very well for a putter.  It can do everything and if you want a single disc for your kid to use as you play a round, this would be a good one!

The Colt will have a place in my bag for a very long time.  This is an incredibly versatile putter.  It is great for short "In the circle" putts, and will hold a laser straight line when thrown with some power.  As the disc breaks in, it will develop a little more fade at the end of it's flight, but this is a straight flyer.  I love the low profile rim, and feel of the DX plastic on this disc.  I was using a Champion Aviar prior to this disc, and I immediately switched as soon as I picked up the Colt.  The speed, and glide rating of 3 is accurate as far as I can tell.  It handles itself well in the wind, but strong gusts will still blow this disc off course.

If you haven't give this putter a try, you won't be dissapointed.

(This review re-written 10/1/15):  The Colt has the VTech convex underside, which gives it stability.  The grip is shallow and comfortable for my four-finger grip;  the bead is not a problem at all.  When I took my 172g DX Colt to the range and fired it (pun intended) at 90-100% power, it flew pretty straight with relatively good distance.  It would be good for tight tunnel shots through the woods.  As the DX Colt beats in, I get a bit of "drift" to the right on my RHBH power throws, which is no problem if and when accounted for.

On the course, I found that upshots/approaches to the basket, when I wasn't throwing full power, the Colt again flies very straight, if desired, but also holds mild hyzer and anhyzer lines.  Spike hyzers become dive bombers.  From 100 ft. out, throwing right at the basket will get it parked close, if not actually in the chains.  I put one hyzer throw in the wind from 130 ft. out right into the basket for a birdie.  I feel very confident with the Colt on approaches, whether it's new or beat in.

For putting:  IMHO there are better discs out there for putting inside the circle, but the Colt is adequate to the task, good in fact.  In 3-disc rounds I've played (the other two discs being a control driver and distance driver), the Colt performs putting duties well in addition to being the go-to approach disc.

I do find that my different DX Colts have slightly different glides, some a bit more than others.  But they all perform well for me.  I'm looking forward to Colts in either Star or Champion plastic, but until that happens, the DX Colt is doing a great job for me.

The "old mold" DX Colt will have the DX Colt stamp with an additional small "prototype" target stamp. New colts will not have the small additional stamp.

    Review of Colt before re-tooling
I was very surprised and impressed with the Colt. I absolutely love the flight and consistency of this disc off the teepad. The shallow rim depth and flat top make the disc feel almost like a midrange, and for that reason I don't like it as a putting putter. However, I have seen a few people fall in love with it as a putter so don't count it out! The rim and bead give it a similar feel to a Gateway Chief.

this disc is very true to it's flight. It has a nice fade similar to a Discmania D-Line P2 or a KC pro Aviar, but it has much more workability in the flight with increased speed. It flies much straighter than most putters, but the added stability at the end of the flight makes it extremely easy to shot shape.

I played a pitch and putt round to try out the DX colt, and I threw the Colt on 10 of my 18 drives. Of those 10, 8 were birdies. It went into my bag faster than any putter has! Check it out, it's awesome!

    New Mold

The New Mold DX Colt is actually slightly domier than the old mold and the current XT mold. I like the added stability and fuller feel of the new mold, however I like the XT version so much that I haven't really been throwing the New mold DX Colt. It is ultra straight and I love the Colt.
