My wife got my an alpaca for Christmas but it has a serious puddle top. It throws fine, but I'm curious if this is the standard for the mold.

My review is for the puddle top version x-blend.  Different feel and flight compared to normal top.  Brand new I tested these out on uphill and downhill approaches around 200'.  They have more of an s shape flight and reduced glide.  These are easy to control and transition slowly into low speed fade which makes end of flight angle easier to control.  On the green the puddle top really makes for a very secure grip and dependable C2 performance.  Love these and anxious to try the other plastics as the seasons change.

The alpaca is a great all around putter. It flies perfectly straight, floaty putter lines that you would expect from a bead less, somewhat deep dished putter. It also makes a great putting putter. The alpaca come in just about every plastic imaginable, so every body should find an alpaca to suit their needs. I personally prefer a shallower feeling putter so I gravitate towards the puddle topped x blends for drives and approaches. The puddle top makes it feel a little shallower in the hand, but it still flies like an Alpaca should.

    175g Infinite Alpaca X-blend

    I bought 3 Alpacas (on sale) recently to test Infinite plastics. I bought 165g R-blend, a 175g D-blend, and a 175g X-blend. I will be writing reviews for all 3 discs.

The Alpaca is a 3/3/0/1 which are very popular numbers for a putter. Feels like the Innova Nova or Aviar, the MVP Anode or Atom, the Discmania P2 or Sensei. These are all discs that I like and are popular. What it will come down to is which feels good to throw.

The X-blend is advertised as similar to the Innova XT mix, I disagree with this description of the plastic. It feels more like a bargain bin version of Infinites I-blend plastic. If you want a fantastic and reliable putter get an Alpaca, just not in the X-blend. I will likely bag either the R-blend and/or D-blend Alpaca. These are very reliable discs that act by the numbers.

This disc is awesome. I putt with an X blend and have reviewed the disc there. G-blend feels like a beat in Star plastic. I love the grip and feel, especially with sweaty hands, hot summers, and cold and wet winters. The subtle swirls in the plastic look cool as well. I really enjoy this disc for long putts in the woods (where I don't want to damage my putting putters on trees) and approach shots.

Please note that the puddle tops (X-blend) are way different in look and feel than the regular tops. The puddle top is like a different disc (think Berg puddle). The puddle tops seem to putt more straight without the same fade, whereas, the regular tops will have that signature Alpaca/P2 fade at the end. Some people prefer puddle tops, especially if used as an approach putter. I most likely will stick to putting the regular tops simply because I have already invested in a stack of regular tops. lol. I can totally see, however, how a puddle top can be a personal preference. If you are starting from scratch, you may want to sample both styles of Alpaca runs within a run that Infinite has here.

I used an Aviar for many years (DX, Classic, Star, Big Bead, KC Pro, No Bead, etc.) as a putting putter and approach (Star). A few years ago my new Pound Bag was stolen from my garage and I was so devastated that I did not play Disc Golf for over a year. I had many seasoned discs, including a well-travelled, first-run Star Aviar (my favorite disc in my stolen bag). When I rebuilt my bag from scratch, my one main critique of the Aviar was it's capacity for bad rollaways on hills. I learned too well the term "bird to bogie" from my Aviar hitting the rim and then rolling far away. (Or rollaways from hyzer shots on hillsides). I used to then putt with a Rhyno for hills and wind, therefore, confusing my feel and putt with two entirely different putters. Then comes the Alpaca... it has the feel of a slightly deeper Aviar, with less overstability and more glide. The X-Blend plastic works great for year round putting in the cold and wet Oregon winter, and the hot summers we have here. With my naturally sweaty palms/hands, the X blend is an even better fit for all seasons. Like my old pro Rhynos, I can see the plastic becoming stickier with time and grabbing the ground even better. I can do two discs in one for my Alpaca. I also feel like I get better distance putts with less effort, due to its glide compared to the Aviar. For approaches, I prefer the G-Blend Alpaca since it gives me that same feel as my old seasoned Star Aviars.

Love the x-blend. Very straight with a little fade and has enough grip to work in any weather.

    Infinite's Aviar

The Aviar is a classic putter for a reason: flies great, fits almost everyone's hands, and grabs the chains. The Alpaca is of the same vein. It does feel slightly different from an Aviar, particularly in the shoulder, but the flight is identical in my experience. I putted with KC Aviars and Wizards for years, so I'm not usually one for a beadless putter, but the Alpaca just feels...right. It is a very even putter: very little fade, it just goes where you put it. For a spin putter like myself, it works very well. Not the best driving putter, but for upshots and all-around putting duties, the Alpaca works.

Do you like the Aviar from Innova? Do you like the P2 from Discmania? Do you like gripper putters year round, or live in an area where it gets cold in the winter? If so then look no further than the X-Blend Infinite Discs Alpaca! This plastic stays grippy, whether it's cold and snowy, or wet and rainy! This plastic is guaranteed to hit the chains and drop straight down into the basket. Don't let the typical putter glide number fool you, this putter will stay in the air for a long time helping you hit longer putts then you thought possible!

Still new to the game so trying out a lot of new disc. Well i bought these just because I liked the name and stamp but they also seemed to have some positive reviews from some people who tested them. Well  here is my review of them. These things go straight at the angle i throw them at with little to no fade just straight and drops down to the ground. Easily becoming my favorite putter so far. And i mean come on how can you pass on a Alpaca!?
