The Sheriff was my first disc ever even though I didn't have the arm speed to properly throw it when I started.  I still bag that first Sheriff and it is my flippiest disc that I use for rollers and long turnover shots.  I now bag 4 Sheriffs that go from fairly stable to flippy.  I have a use for each one and it is still my favorite disc.  Highly recommend it.

Once I started to pick up some arm speed I found this disc and it immediately became my go to driver. Throws so smooth, definitely shows a degree of turn but always fades back. This will glide straight for days. Distance? Sheriff.

173G Lucid - This disc is tricky for me. I have a couple Lucid ones which give a range of usefulness. My go to which stuck in my bag is a pop top domey one that has some stableness to it which allows me for max distance and s turns as well. My other ones are flatter (not flat) and are pretty understable with little to no fade back.

I had this disc in Lucid Metal Flake, and For the longest time, this disc was my go to driver if I needed to touch higher distances. As my arm speed increased and I got better at throwing, it became more of an understable disc for me, but that really just helped me get even greater distance, if I gave it a little hyzer. Sadly I lost this disc throwing at a baseball field, but I would recommend this disc to anyone if they wanna reach greater distances. It's grip and rim are very easy to fit in the hand, and it just flies so smooth.

The Sheriff was my furthest flying driver for a while. It has the classic distance driver flight pattern and is great for me still when thrown forehand. Its release is just buttery smooth in the lucid plastic. I've racked several trees with it and it's still in really good shape. I would recommend the Sheriff to most players.

This was my first distance driver, and as an unexperienced player I was still able to smash this disc. My favorite part about this disc is the rim depth. It allows the disc to fit comfortably in my hand for both forehand and backhand shots. The lucid plastic is grippy and durable. The shot I most use this disc for is an open fairway bomb. I put it on slight anhyzer and let it get a bit of high speed turn before it fades reliably. I surprise myself with how far I am able to throw this disc, it just glides forever.

When I first started getting into drivers sheriff was definitely the disc that I could throw the furthest at the time. When I wastly 350ft-380ft When I was trying I was able to max out my distance at a little over 400ft with with sheriff. The overall feel and comfort ability of this disc is absolutely amazing for a driver. I love the durability in Lucid plastic as well. Although it seems after it's been beaten in quite a bit, it tends to get very understandable. Otherwise if I wasn't so addicted to destroyers, I'd keep a brand new lucid sheriff in my bag at all times.

After reading all these wonderful reviews of the Sheriff, I finally bought one in the lucid plastic.  When I first started throwing it I was not giving it enough speed, and it kept cutting left pretty quickly, but as I learned to throw it harder and with more speed the Sheriff became my go-to distance driver.  I really like this disc, and have had my longest drives using this disc.  I also really like the lucid plastic, if feels great in the hand, and holds up really well.  This disc also has very nice glide, which gives you that extra 50 feet you have been looking for.  Overall, I think the Sheriff is a must have in any disc golfer's bag!  If you have not tried one out, do it!

I have a 171gm lucid Sheriff and a 173 fuzion, and I absolutely love them! I am able to get a variety of shots with them! I love it for the straight bomb shot. Once they beat in they get a bit more flippy. The rim isn't too deep as opposed to other distance drivers. Definetly need an arm to huck it to flat. I use as my max distance driver!

    Disc: 174g Lucid Sheriff

This disc was made to do one thing, and that one thing is to go far. It was not made to be your go-to driver for headwinds, crosswinds, or pinpoint accuracy. Despite the wide rim, I find it comfortable in the hand for both backhand and forehand shots, and the Lucid plastic feels great. To me, the true flight ratings of the Sheriff seem closer to 13/6/-1/1.

With this disc, I was able to achieve higher average driving distances than any other distance driver I've thrown, and with an incredibly straight flight (~470 feet). In particular, the Sheriff excelled on slight hyzer releases that flipped up to flat, turned slowly, and faded lightly at the end.

[6 month update] - For a 13 speed disc, I've been pleasantly surprised with its predictability. With many stable-to-understable 13 speeds, it's easy to accidentally turn it too much or not get it flipped enough, leaving a huge margin of error. However, the Sheriff has been pretty controllable/reliable for me. Also, the Lucid plastic has proven extremely durable.

Disc - 173 Dynamic Discs Lucid Sheriff

Feel - The Sheriff has a wide and shallow rim. It feels fairly good in the hand for being a high speed driver. It feels good for both backhand and forehand shots. Lucid plastic is very durable and provides good grip.

Flight - The Sheriff definitely surprised me. I got this disc because it had a lot of glide but I was expecting it to be pretty understable. While it definitely is not overstable I wouldn't say it is flippy either. It has become one of my favorite distance drivers when I need to get as far down the fairway as I can. The thing that I enjoy about the sheriff is that it holds a fairly tight line, compared to my destroyers and other distance drivers, but still goes further than all of them. I really enjoy the Sheriff but would definitely recommend to try to find a stiff lucid one because those have the most stability.

Overall - The Sheriff is definitely an underrated distance driver for players who throw around the 400-425 mark and want to add a few more feet to their shots.

The Sheriff can help you on your high speed chase to distance if you put in the work - she's the first disc to reach 450 for me, and I was shocked. Just a touch of turn that will pan back to straight for what seems like hours, and a gentle fade that doesn't dump. This disc is what I reach for when I'm headed straight down a 500+ ft fairway, and I'm never disappointed. Flys much like the Saint on crack. She doesn't fight wind that great, but that's the only downside to the Sheriff. Moonshine plastic will give you a touch more stability, and a Fuzion Sheriff will be just a touch flippier. Give one a crank and let the Sheriff detain your ability to speak for a bit, just like it did me!

This thing is like a souped up Innova Beast. I find that the flight is similar albeit with a bit more fade. If I need a straight shot that will hold a line while reaching maximum distance this is generally the disc I pull out. Does well in headwinds but not quite as much as a truly overstable disc. The numbers seem to be very true in the flgiht I have experienced. I have only run with this on the Lucid plastic. I love it!

    171g Lucid.

I got this as a mystery Disc shortly after I started playing and only put it in the bag on windy days.  Into a headwind, it was the only disc I could throw for any distance.  I've been playing for about four months now, and put the Sheriff in my bag to try forehand looking for something I didn't have to flex.  Wow!  This is a great forehand disk.  Released with a little bit of hyzer, it turns out and comes back with a little bit of fade.  Where I was 225-250 on my forehand, this goes out 275 every-300 every time.  RHBH, I still struggle with the speed a little, but I get 300+ with this in a headwind.  I rated as "somewhat beginner friendly" because it flies true to its numbers even for a lower speed arm. It may not get the distance, but the flight will show your form every time.

    174g Lucid.

With no head wind or a tail wind:

Throwing on a slight hyzer line it flips up flat, rides slightly right, then gently fades in the end for a super long distance shot. Be wary of throwing it flat, as this disc will turn over fast. On a steeper hyzer, it will hold the left-turn (RHBH) after coming up almost flat.

The shallow rim is something I had to get used to - it can be tough on a rainy day. Overall this disc is a far flyer with no head wind or a tail wind. Haven't gotten the cojones to throw in in a head wind yet, but I don't see any reason to do that anyway based on its flight.

I just got this disc a couple days ago, so there is a pretty small sample size of throws I’ve put it through, but this thing absolutely crushes for me. I’ve averaged in the low 300s for most of my drives with other discs, with a max around 340. With this, I hit 400 for the first time today! It’s an easy disc to send pretty far and still manage to keep it low. It’s only been a week, but I’m finding that it generously rewards proper mechanics (and doesn’t penalize poor mechanics too badly), and as I improve my technique, I’ve been able throw this exponentially farther in the short time I’ve had it. I’m expecting to keep pushing my max distance with this disc.

The flight ratings are pretty accurate for me. I have not managed to turn it over yet; instead, I get a pretty gentle turn and a slow, consistent fade. Not a huge skip at the end either, unless you put it on a big hyzer line. I’d compare it to the MVP Catalyst with a little less turn. This finishes pretty straight on a normal release, but is responsive to shot shaping too.

If you’re looking for a distance driver, this is a great choice, especially for people trying to move up into that high 300 to low 400 foot drive range.

I really enjoyed my time with this driver before I forgot it on the course lmao. I got solid forehand and backhand distance, pretty easy to get a nice s line out of it on a medium speed release, and a long drift out s line when throwing a hyzer flip. It was a bit unpredictable on backhand but id say this was my max distance forehand disc, and was much more of a forehand dominant disc for me. Definitely am considering buying another one

I originally bought one of these in the BioFusion plastic, threw it a bunch and then realized it was becoming pretty understable fast.  I got a Lucid version and it is holding up much better, this is the max distance disc for me and my medium arm speed!  This thing goes & goes, pushing past 330 with minimal effort.  It doesn't turn for me unless I force it over, and it finishes mildly, with a moderate skip to the left (RHBH).  Great for those long open shots that you want to keep in the middle..

This disc is a great boomer, when thrown correctly flies like a broke in destroyer by innova, but with alot more glide. Also makes a great flick disc. And when it hits the ground it skips rather far due to the rim size, while fitting in the hands nicely

The Sheriff is one of DD's longer, glidier driver offerings. Fairly similar to Innova's Shryke, it has some high speed turn and is capable of very big yardage.

The Sheriff can be maddeningly inconsistent from disc to disc and across the different plastics it comes in. I've found metal flake Lucid to be the best plastic available. It has the advertised stability and won't flip erratically. Sheriffs in Fuzion or Biofuzion seem to be flippier and more erratic. Those plastics also wear out much faster, causing the disc to lose stability fast.

Overall the Sheriff seems to do a good job and is a very worthy long distance bomber. For anything 400' and above you'll probably have to hyzerflip it to keep it on a flat line. The Sheriff is also a disc beginner to intermediate players could probably step up to if they're looking for more distance. Its easy to throw and doesn't take a ridiculous amount of arm to get it to fly properly.

The Sheriff and Captain arre pretty redundant. If you have one, you won't need the other.

My crew and I reviewed the Lucid Sheriff, one at 171g and one at 175g. What I noticed from this disc is fade fade fade. As you see above, I am only an Intermediate player so it's not expected for myself to be able to turn it over but I didn't think it would have this much fade. Releasing it on an Anhyzer I was definitely able to get it to turn some but there was no way it wasn't going to fight back. Lucid is great plastic and it feels good in my hand (despite the wide rim and my small hands) but this is just not the disc for me. Maybe after one gets heavily beat in, but right out of the box, its just too much disc for me. If you are a Pro, Advanced or high level Intermediate player, this disc could definitely work for you. But if you are at the bottom of Int like my self or in Rec... work on that arm a bit more before you chuck this dude. Check out my crew's full review here...

The sheriff: it does not get any more max distance than this disc. It is super fast, it is kinda flippy, but has some bite at the end, it feels great in the hand. Some discs just feel like they are a handle that was specifically meant to rip on, and that is honestly exactly what this is. Flight wise, this disc is almost identical to my max weight champion Shryke, but feel wise, it is a little closer to a destroyer. This disc isn’t very low profile, it is actually kinda tall for a distance driver. But this disc is consistently at the top of my distance every single time. Note: this is a 5/5 not a 1/5

There was a lot of hype surrounding the release of the sheriff and I think it lived up to the hype! This disc gets some serious distance and seems like it never stops moving forward! Where a lot of distance drivers seem to dump hard into the ground when they fade, the sheriff continues pushing forward as it fades. The rim feels amazing in the hand. Wide enough that you know its a max distance driver, but not so wide that it feels uncomfortable or like you can't grip it. However, I don't think this disc will do very much for you if you can't throw more than 350 feet already. This disc can work magic when thrown right, but it isn't going to fly much further than other drivers unless you throw it well and with some power.

Looking for something that's high speed, has a very small about of turn but goes pretty darn straight for a long distance, before fading out smooth? Look no further! You've found the next disc to add to your bag.

I got mine in Metal Flake Lucid so it is very durable and a but more stable. I've hit a couple trees HARD already and there's hardly a mark on it.

Flight wise I'd compare this to the Westside Sword but with just a touch more on the stable side. Feels a lot like a boss or a katana in the hand, or a mix between the two...This things bombs though, goes FAR! Farther than youd expect it to. I feel like this disc is trying to escape me, I've already almost lost it 3 times because of how much farther it goes than I expected.

Headwinds are not so friendly with this disc, Side winds are ok though.

If you can handle speed 13 discs and want something that goes straight for days....this is the one for you.

Easily the max distance disc youre looking for if you dont have the arm speed to really get distance out of destroyers or defenders.  slower arm speeds will find this to be a reliably overstable distance driver with a good amount of glide, and higher arm speeds will find this a great hyzerflip to late turnover disc, with the average thrower having it sit right in the sweetspot of hyzerflip for max distance

This disc is one of the most versatile discs ever! It is by far the farthest disc I have ever thrown both forehand and backhand. I can throw a Sheriff on average 400+ feet backhand. What people do not know about this disc is how much it will change your forehand game. With less power it will go farther than your distance sidearms. If you thought that it takes too much to throw sidearms anymore try this guy out, and it will shock you. If you throw less than 300 feet try the Bio-Fuzion in a lighter weight (it will do wonders). If you throw more than 300 feet throw either the Lucid or Fuzion in whatever weight is comfortable! Definitely worth a try! If anyone could get this disc in Lucid-X plastic this would be the best disc ever!

I've been throwing Sheriffs for a year or so now and they are still a staple in my bag. You can get so much glide out of this disc, but it likes to turn over quite a bit when thrown hard. So, I love throwing them for long turnover shots where I need to go far and right. It's also very useful for me when I need to carve some long lines in the woods. Love it for both backhand and forehand.

The Dynamic Discs Sheriff was one of the most hyped releases of 2017 and like others I was pretty excited to get a hold of one. The Sheriff has a big beefy rim that feels quite large in the hand but definitely in that speed 13 range. It is relatively easy to grip both forehand and backhand and after a little bit of practice it will feel natural to you. I've tested this disc in both Biofuzion and Lucid (sparkle lucid) weights between 170-175g. The Profiles for me generally speaking were pretty Domey when close to max weight and the 170g Bio's I had were just a little flatter and significantly flippier.

The Sheriff is designed to go far, it has a noticeable turn and a small fade which nets you a pretty long and straight flight reminiscent of a very flippy of destroyer or a faster Wraith but with less fade. It's glide is superb like most of the Triology plastics and this disc likes to stay in the air. Due to this slight understability it is actually pretty workable even without a huge arm as I've had my friends who don't quite reach 400ft throw it and the disc still holds a reasonable line for them without too much fade. What this disc does well is hyzer flip max distance and long annhyzers, you can put it on a long slow fading hyzer line but you need to have the shot dialed perfectly to avoid flipping over. Once this disc breaks in the flip becomes pretty pronounced with some fine tuning can go very far. The downside to this is that because the disc can get a bit flippy and it doesn't have a strong fade it can be unpredictable especially in conditions with wind (outside of a tailwind maybe). Sidearm this disc will handle some torque but most likely will be reserved to hyzer flips or anhyzer turning shots.

As far as performance in the wind goes this disc will laugh at tailwinds but keep it far, far away from a headwind or crosswind as it can easily be upset and go off line. With some more stability this disc could be more versatile but as it stands read the wind well and temper your expectations.

Beginners shouldn't throw max distance drivers.... 'nuff said. But really, the Sheriffs big rim favors fast throws and while its kinda workable I wouldn't consider touching this guy until you crack the 350ft barrier reliably.

Did the Sheriff live up to the hype? I think it did.... however, the hype did not pitch how situational this disc would be and I think it is worth noting that while at first you may feel this disc is amazing and want it to be your go to it is NOT reliable enough of a workhorse to truly take molds out of your bag the Sheriff just is not stable enough (and I've thrown supposedly the most overstable variant being a domey max weight sparkle lucid). So in the end we end up with a disc kind of like the Discmania DDx, a strange inbetweener niche disc that absolutely bombs but isn't flippy enough out of the box to be a roller. When you need an absolute bomb for that 500+ slight downhill tailwind shot the Sheriff won't disappoint but I can't see a good reason to bag more than one and ultimately for me just did not stay in the bag as I was able to more reliably work some slower more stable discs to the same distances with better wind fighting capabilities. Accordingly a 3/5 Stars showcases this disc well, a solid choice for a niche spot but maybe not the workhorse we truly wanted it to be. If DD/Lat64 can bridge the gap between this and a Defender they may truly have the greatest distance driver of all time.

I have had the chance to throw a few Sheriffs now and I am sold. Every one I have thrown so far have been white, lucid, 170G, tournament stamped discs, were identical in flight and rivaled any one of my drivers for max distance. The Sheriff for me is the most controllable distance driver I have ever thrown. Its not terribly hard to make this disc take any forehand or backhand line. I can turn it over it if am trying to but I rarely ever accidently turn it all the way over with a decently executed drive. Its also amazing for throwing long narrow hyzer shots. I only have about 400ft. of power off the tee and this disc actually allows me to get there on  hyzer the whole way. Don't expect a huge sweeping fade or anything but it will hold the angle and fly far. You can fairly easily hyzer flip this as well for a long straight controlled flight that finishes slightly left (RHBH). The best part is when throwing it forehand it takes all the exact same lines mentioned above but instead, finishing around 325ft.- 350ft. for me. I have even had some success throwing FH and BH rollers with the Sheriff and roller success is pretty rare in my game. All in all this is a very forgiving and long flying disc that just about anyone can get some use out of. The only thing that seems to stop this disc is a good headwind and honestly its not the worst disc I have for such an occasion. Just a little unpredictable. I would imagine that beginners or weaker players would have different results than me as the high speed nature of the disc is not well suited for them. Any intermediate or better player looking for a high speed driver they can actually keep straight down the fairway with only moderate power and great control will be more than happy with this disc.

This is now the farthest throwing disc in my bag. It absolutely crushes. When I first got it, it was your typical straight with slow fade driver, but once it beat in a little bit more it now has a beautiful slight S curve line to it. This disc is also very fast and feels great in the hand.

High speed, hyzer flips, skipping finish. Grab a fuzion for more turn. Get comfortable with this and it will bomb any line. Give it anny and height and watch it ride, low and hyzer for skips and anything in between. Good neutral high speed disc for those with moderate power. Extra forehand distance on the spot. Not great for headwinds or low no turn hyzers beyond 450.

My new favorite driver. Thrown on a hyzer is goes flat and straight with minimal fade. thrown a little closer to flat and you get a really nice, subtle flex with max distance. Every throw ive had with this disc so far has been parked! I believe im currently throwing a 173 in lucid plastic.

Alright ive tested the sheriff for roughly 300 throws, mostly field work to see if this disc will find a place in the bag.  Ok i can throw over 400feet with 70 percent power.  With no wind this disc is very good stays on track.  But with a tailwind this disc is a beast! For strong arms id say this is a tailwind to no wind disc.   For 350foot throwers and under this disc could definitely work in the wind, moderate wind.  All in all id say its a more stable tresspass and if you cant consistantly bomb past 400 id stay with the tresspass. For me its exclusively a finess 350 on a straight line or only for tailwinds. I did buy it just for tailwinds cause im a defender fanboy!

The sheriff was so hyped, I felt obligated to get my hands on it and bag it right away. In the past I had tried to avoid discs that were hyped that much (DDx and Emac Truth). The problem was as soon as I tried those hyped discs I loved them so much that I decided to give this a shot. I was glad I did, I love the feel of the sheriff and the flight of it is amazing.

In the hand the disc feels really nice. I used to bag 3 trespasses but the sheriff has changed that for me. The rim is a touch larger on the sheriff and feels a lot better in my hands. I love how comfortable it is and have confidence in throwing it both backhand and forehand.

It is tough to say how much this will replace my DDxs over time, I do feel like they have some overlap in their characteristics for me. I do know that this disc is fantastic and that everybody should at least give it a try. I cant wait for it to come out in some other plastics to see what it can do

    My current workhorse.

This has a slight turn, holds a LONG straight line with a reliable fade at the end.

I have this in 3 different plastics and they all fly a bit different.

Lucid: This is the most stable of the 3 plastics. I get the least amount of turn and the most fade at the end. (13, 5, -0.5, 2)

Fuzion: I do see more turn than the lucid plastic and slightly less dump at the end.  This is the straightest of the 3 plastics. (13, 5, -1, 2). This one flies like the numbers

BioFuzion: The most understable and my favorite because of that.  This is the longest disc in my bag. (13, 5, -2, 2)

Update: I decided to bag the Sheriff and it is now one of the farthest discs in my bag. It is much more understable than when I first got it, but still hooks up great at the very end of its flight. I generally throw it on a hyzer and it flips up, turns over gently and holds that line the duration of its flight before fading out. It holds a great anhyzer and gives me some great distance on any line really, its even a great roller. I have a Lucid that is pretty broken in, and I just added a Fuzion to my bag. I love them both and highly recommend this disc.

I have been testing the Sheriff and really like it. For the review I was using a 172g Lucid Sheriff at about 4,500 ft. elevation. I was really anticipating the release of this disc, and was worried all the hype was going to build too many high expectations. However, this disc stood up to all the hype, and is totally awesome.

The Sheriff has a pretty good sized rim and flies somewhat like a faster more stable Trespass. They feel great in the hand (as Lucid always does) and have a very slight dome. Throwing it flat, it pops up just a little bit and rides on that line before a healthy fade. Whether on a hyzer or anhyzer, this disc holds its line very well. I'm curious to throw this disc at lower elevations and also in some higher temperatures :).

I really like the Sheriff for forehanding as well as backhanding. It has a good amount of stability and fade, but flips over enough to provides some great consistent distance.

The Sheriff is amazing. Recently I lost both of my main drivers (Frost Havocs) and borrowed somebody's Sheriff. Holy cow, I was amazed. This disc is the perfect bomber disc for me. It's slightly flippy, so off of a flat release it'll turn over slightly, then roll back to a gentle fade. It gets reliable max distance.

I also used it a lot for some anny bombs. I threw it slightly higher on an anny release. It turns over for quite some time, then slowly rolls back to it's fade and drops. The nice thing is that it doesn't fade too hard, so you can place it nicely.

I'll disagree with Alan and say that this disc is a LOT less overstable than the Defender. I'd compare this to a DDx, perhaps, or a less stable destroyer. The defender for me just hooks hard, while the Sheriff definitely flips over, but always comes back.

Anyway, long story short- this is my new go to driver and you should try one.

This disc bombs. I'm not the strongest thrower, and need understable stuff to get more than about 325 feet, but can still get some good distance out of the Sherriff backhand. It goes straight and then fades left at the end of the flight and is perfect for me for those conditions where my normal discs are going to turn over in a head wind. For forehand throws, the proto Sheriff is not quite overstable enough for me to throw consistently. I'd say it is just a tad less overstable than the Westside World and the Dynamic Discs Defender. For bigger arm throwers I play with, I have seen some of the best throws they've ever had with a Sherrif. If you can throw 350+ feet, I'd highly recommend getting a Sheriff. There is a good chance you'll get more distance consistently with this disc.

I admit that I am a distance driver junkie. That isn't to say that I can bomb a driver for huge distances, but I find joy in going out to a field and throwing distance drivers as hard as I can, one after another. So, when I took the Sheriff prototype out for a few throws, I was extremely happy with the results. I didn't need to warm up very much to get this thing flying at my peak distance. But on top of the distance potential with the Sheriff, the disc also kept its line very well. I expected it to be a touch more overstable, but the end fade was not very pronounced. It was more gentle and manageable.

In the end, I simply had to buy the disc because I can see this disc being a very serviceable driver when I want distance as well as precision. I like the Lucid plastic, which is similar to Champion plastic for those unfamiliar with Dynamic Discs plastic names. When weighed against other 2016 high-speed driver releases that are intended for straight shots, I'd take the Sheriff over the Shryke or the Queen, because it didn't have as much of a tendency to pull too much to the understable side, or to flip over and turn into a roller.
