If you consider the Thunderbird as a "faster" 9 speed Teebird, then think of this disc as a 9 speed Teebird 3. It's flatter and has less fade than a Thunderbird, but still relatively straight with some fade. I'd say it is 30% less "beefy" than my Star Thunderbird with similar wear. It pushes straighter further and the fade is less severe. So if you dig Discraft and their plastics it's comparable, but not identical.

I will say there are limitations on pushing the Teebird:Thunderbird :: Teebird3:Vulture analogy too far. I throw Teebird3s because I don't like the dome of traditional Teebirds, but I love Thunderbirds. I picked this up because it felt great in my hand, but I'm debating whether or not I need it in my bag right now because I'm not sure it differentiates itself enough from other discs, and I don't have a "shot" on my courses that it fits better than others. For the straighter shot I have my Teebird3, and for shots that need extra speed/fade I have my Thunderbird. None of that detracts from the disc, but just how I constructed my bag.

This review is actually for the First Run Vulture, which are a little bit tough to get ahold of. I fell in love with this specific run the second I threw it. The First Run Z Vulture is definitely less stable than any newer runs, ESP or Z. I haven't thrown the Big Z, so I can't compare there. The FR has a small amount of turn and is much more workable than other Vultures I have thrown. It's much more similar to a Musket or an Aztec than a Thunderbird or Anax like the stock Z or ESP are.

The FR Z flies much like an Undertaker, but pushes a little bit farther. This makes it very workable on both BH and FH, as it can handle a bit of torque still, despite the small amount of turn.

If you're looking for something a bit more workable than the stock runs, I highly recommend checking out the First Run if you can get your hands on one. And if not, or if you prefer the grippier plastics, check out the Infinite Discs Aztec for a similar flight.

I purchased the Discraft Vulture in Z-Line plastic and have found it to have a similar flight to the Discraft Anax but with less hook up at the end of its flight. In the Z-Line plastic the Vulture has a healthy amount of stability and I feel like I can really rip on it into a headwind without any worries about it turning over.

I predominately throw backhand however the times that I have forehanded the Vulture, I have had success.

My one criticism of this disc (and it might have just been the run or the specific disc that I got) is the embossed name and Discraft logo on the inner rim of the disc is really noticeable and so sometime I have to turn the disc a bit in my hands to find a spot that is clear.

If you are looking for a straight flying, foward finishing driver that can hold up to considerable torque I would recommend the Discraft Vulture!

One time while sifting through a water hazard in some waders, I found an unmarked Z Vulture. I threw it in my bag because I had lost my beloved CD2 that day so there was room for it. I threw it and realized there is something particularly special about this disc. I have never thrown a disc so fast, yet so straight. It doesn't like to turn much unless I put it on anny, but it also doesn't fade much. It was just giving me a smooth, dead straight flight for the same distance as some of my other fairways.

I owned an esp and lost it in the water and immediately picked up a z line because this is one of the only discs i feel comfortable throwing forehand.  Would recommend it to someone that is just learning how to throw a forehand

    Disc - 175 Discraft Z Vulture

Feel - The Vulture feels fairly similar to an Innova Thunderbird in my opinion except most that I've felt are a bit flatter. It feels good for both forehand and backhand shots. Z plastic is very durable and the grip is good in dry conditions.

Flight - Along with feeling like an innova thunderbird, I feel that the flight of the vulture is similar to that of a more beat in thunderbird. It gets great distance for being a slower speed disc and has a nice predictable fade at the end of its flight. I think that the best way to describe it is controllably overstable. I really enjoy this disc for straight shots that I need the distance of a distance driver but the accuracy of a fairway.

Overall - I really think that the vulture is one of the best discs in Discrafts lineup. Obviously the addition of the McBeth discs has added many good discs to that lineup but if you are looking to try some Discraft plastic without spending the extra to get McBeth stuff I'd recommend the vulture.

This is my go to control driver. Likes to hold hyzer when released that way but will also fly on beautiful tight flex lines when prompted. Also my longest spike hyzer disc. Endless possibilities with this gem!

With some power thrown flat, these are very straight with mild finish up to 380 - 400. I'd say the flight numbers are spot on. It feels good in the hand. Very similar to an Innova Thunderbird but a bit less stable, form what I have tried anyways. They seem to hold up well in the wind as well. Very good bridge disc between fairways and distance drivers, for me a round 400'.

I was looking for a control driver off the tee that could navigate tunnels on a laser and provide minimal fade at the end of flight, The vulture delivered exactly that just as the flight numbers reflect.  Very first drive landed about 10' from the basket for a birdie.  Second drive with it landed about 15' from the basket for another birdie.  It is safe to say that this disc flies exactly as the flight numbers state and will hold a straight line as long as you have sufficient spin on the throw.  Even with the 5 glide I can keep it low to go under trees, or air it out high if needed.  I have since replaced the Vulture with the Longbowman.

I recently got my first Vulture in a 10 pack of x-out discs.  I love it so much I bought a second one, just in case.  It flies super straight with the slightest fade at the end.  It’s not over stable for someone with any arm speed.  I live on Kauai, Hawaii and we have some seriously strong trade winds.  This disc is not made for the 20+mph headwinds.  But, it is a great control driver when I don’t have to fight the winds.

This disc is absolutely fantastic! I don't have particularly fast arm speed, so it has been difficult finding a "high speed" driver from Discraft that I liked. But I jumped on an Elite Z Vulture early on and, after throwing it for about 3 weeks, rushed to buy a Big Z and a ESP.

This mold is my new go-to, controllable, distance driver! It has tons of glide, but likes to fly straight.....far! And has a nice stable finish to the left (RHBH). It will hold an anhyzer and flex out to flat smoothly and it seems to LOVE a smooth, controlled flex line to finish left thru NC woods...but maybe I'm biased.

I love this disc! Flies very true to the numbers. Responds very well to lots of power. Can hold an anhyzer if given good snap, otherwise will fight out. Becoming my most thrown disc.
