The luna is one of my new favorite putters; the special blend plastic is slick at first but gets tacky once beat in which is what I was hoping for!  The glide is amazing and I love using this putter for c2 putts!  Only giving it 4.5 stars because the disc is more nuetral flying than the numbers would indicate.

The Discraft Special Blend is fairly firm and grippier than standard Pro-D but not quite as grippy as Jawbreaker. My preference is to get the ones that have a little bit of speckling in the plastic because they are slightly grippier than the plain ones.

For putting, I like the flight of KC Pro Aviars, Wizards or P2s, something slightly overstable to handle a little wind and a faster putt. However, those discs are a little deeper in the hand than I prefer. For years I putted with Judges because I love their flight when new but they beat in to understable pretty quickly for me. The Luna was a great fit to switch to from Judges. I have been putting with them since the prototypes were released and tend to buy a new set (2 identical ones) every year or two. They are fairly durable as putters and eventually (12-18 months for me) beat in straight & glidey.

For throwing, these glide for days but aren't as overstable as the numbers suggest. Less stable than a wizard and finishes with a gentle forward fade. They can handle a good amount of power though, and fly pretty far. I don't bag one for throwing at the moment but they are one of the farther-flying putters I've tried.

Very disappointed when I first threw this disc. When I purchased this disc I was looking an overstable throwing putter, but the flight numbers on this are incorrect. It is very straight and has little to no finish.

This seems like a disc everyone should try.

The special blend plastic is reasonably grippy for both throwing and putting. It isn't the most durable as it will dent and scratch form reasonable impact, but putting doesn't seem to leave too much damge to it. The grip is my favorite part of the plastic as it really lends to confidence of release point when throwing and putting.

The shape of the rim is really rounded around the whole rim, which sounds hard to hold onto but it allows for it to fit tighter in the palm. No bead and the shape of the rim feels comfortabale for resting the finger on the rim and resting it in the first notch of the index finger. The height really sits well in the hand for most sizes of hands, it doesn't feel hard to hold onto or feel like it forces you to fan your fingers out further than what's comfortable.

The flight when putting is pretty standard for a putter when inside the circle. The driving flight is what's more interesting as it seems more understable than the numbers suggest. It'll flip up, but still has stability to face wind if necessary.

I use this disc as my putting putter only. For me this disc putts well. It is stable enough to confidently putt in headwinds, with enough glide to putt in tailwinds. The disc is much less stable than advertised in the special blend plastic. I gave this four stars as it is a great disc to putt with. However, the reason this doesn't get a five star is it is expensive.

The Luna is a deeper putter. It is reminiscent of the deepness of an Aviar. I was not a fan of the hand feel due to the deepness, but I really liked the feel of the rubber blend. Down side to that though is it beats in stupidly fast. Two rounds and it began getting pretty flippy on me. Your mileage will vary in the more premium plastics. So will your cost of purchasing a Luna because they are definitely pricier than other discs that perform like it.

Best feeling putter I've ever tried. Not too deep, so it's great for those with smaller hands. The price tag is high much for a putter, but to me, it is 100% worth it.

To get this out of the way, my review would be 5 stars, but I can't, in my right mind, justify saying $20 is acceptable for a baseline putter! Sorry, Discraft and sorry, Paul, but it's kinda insane how much the price has gone up on these in the last year and a half. Additionally, they are hyped up and therefore are often difficult to find in the special blend.

Now that that's out of the way, the Luna IS a great putting putter and throwing putter. The numbers really don't sell it properly, as people think it should be a hugely stable disc. The Luna is a decently straight to stable disc, and in lighter weights and different blends, it can have some turn to start out, especially if it's beat in. I think they generally can handle a bit of torque as well, especially in the more stable plastics.

It's a very firm putter, with a low profile and good hand-feel. The hype is absolutely real.

I have been playing for 14 months and I bag 3 different Luna's and will review them here.  I selected the rubber blend bc I think it does everything well but is not preference for any 1 particular shot.
CT Luna-This is my putting Luna   It holds your putt lines well with speed and finishes with fade   What makes it my favorite putting Luna is the grip tho   This disc sticks nicely in your hand allowing for a lot of spin on putts.
2021 TS Metallic Z-This is my teebox Luna.  It holds a straight line well finishing with controllable fade.  Throw. Lightly will fade hard at the end but thrown with power will hold a line and end with a slight fade.
2022 TS ESP-This is my turnover Luna.  I can do a lot with this plastic but love it best for turnovers.  I can give it slow constant turn to get around obstacles, I can also start with a huge turn and then get straight glide with a light fade to the finish.  I also have as it for turnover putts to get around obstacles when needed.

Again the special rubber blend does it all well and is a great disc.  I love my Luna's and I own a lot of them.

If you want an approach disc that glides for days, straight with a soft left fade finish - you found it.

To start off with, I do not use this disc for putting, but if I need a tight window shot or want to use a putter to drive with, this is my disc. I use it for RHBH only and for shots between 200' - 250'. As it beats in it will lose some of its stability, but that is where the magic happens. I have two of these in my bag, one understable and one stable/overstable. But bother are used for approach shots.

These feel good in the hand and amazingly soft when landing - no skipping.

Highly recommend these as a throwing putter - get the heaviest you can.

I've thrown the Luna in almost every plastic type and it is my favorite putting putter and throwing putter. Feels nice in the hand and has a nice neutral flight with a slight fade at the end. When I'm unsure what disc to throw, I know that I can reliable get this disc about 250-275ft down the fairway (I'm not a power thrower) effortlessly. The only negatives I can say about this disc is that the flight numbers are terrible, Discraft should update the numbers.

I bought the special blend Luna because I wanted a throwing putter with slightly less stability than the Zone. However, when I threw it off the tee the first time, it tuned out to be almost as understable as the Fierce. I tried again a few holes later with a sharp hyzer release and it still turned way over. I was disappointed and thought I had wasted my money on this putter.

But then I decided to try putting with it, and it rocked my world. The Luna is hands down my new favorite putting putter. It is the most comfortable disc I have ever putted with, and it finds chains inside and outside the circle. The number of long putts I make has gone up significantly, resulting in increased confidence in my putt overall.

The only reason I am giving the Luna four stars instead of five is that the flight numbers were not accurate, at least for the special blend Luna. I certainly plan on trying the Luna in different plastics in the near future to see if it gets the flight I'm looking for in a throwing putter.

I bag one big Z luna and two stock Mcbeth special blend Lunas. The big z I use for upshots and off the tee pad when I want a reliable flight that will have a predictable fade at the end. One of my Lunas is very beat in and is quite understable so I use it for touch backhands that require an anhyzer angle. I use this disc because of the feel. I personally believe that simple putting is about how the disc feels and flight numbers aren't as big of a deal. Brand new these are more on the overstable spectrum but nothing too bad, and they do break in fairly quickly. Overall, a versatile throwing putter, that does everything I ask it to do.

This is my go to putting putter. It took me some time to get used to not having a bead but if you like beadless then you'll love this thing. Feels good in the hand and only wants to go into the basket. Pick one of these up and you might find your new favorite.

    Discraft Special Blend/Big Z

I have thoroughly enjoyed throwing the Luna off of the tee. It can handle a lot of power while holding various angles. My Special Blend Luna has beat in really nicely to the point where I can have clean turnover shots or flip up tunnel shots through the woods. The Big Z has been slightly more stable than my Special Blend, and has stayed more stable while using it. I love this disc because it fills that perfect in between distance between a putter and midrange. I find the Luna to be a significantly farther flyer than any other putter that I have thrown. I took one star away due to the fact that I find the Luna uncomfortable in my hand for forehands, but I still recommend this disc to anyone who's looking for a new driving putter.

So I have a dog named Luna, and what better reason to buy a disc than that? Despite the silly reason for buying it, this is a fantastic disc. I use it more for approach shots than putting. It is a great throwing putter. Very comfortable in the hand. I think more experienced putters will appreciate the overstability. Newer players may not fare too well with it unless trying to throw hyzers at the basket.

The luna is the most popular putter with disc golfers in my area for a good reason. Paul McBeth is the best example of how useful the luna is, but when putted with flat it carries a reliable line over a long distance. I love the luna because I can focus more on my angles and trust that the disc will cover the distance I need without worrying about generating so much power from the jump putt.

The Discraft Luna is an awesome disc, and well worth the immense popularity it has! Discraft's Special Blend plastic has a really nice feel in the hand. When I first received the disc it had a slicker feel than what I was expecting, however after putting and playing a round or two with it the flashing or film it had has worn off and so it has a much grippier feel. The other thing I really like about the Luna is it has a shallower feel in the hand as compared to something like the Discmania P2, and so I feel like I get a cleaner release both putting and throwing the Luna.

Currently, I am using the Luna as a throwing putter because it has such a reliably straight flight particularly if you put a little power into the shot. I would agree with a lot of the reviews that the Luna is not quite as overstable as its fade rating might lead you to believe, however that said again I feel like you can put power into the Luna without worrying about about it turning over.

I would definitely putt with the Luna as however (and this would be my one knock on the Luna) I feel like it is a bit pricey for me at this point to build up a collection of 3 or so to able to practice with and have a back up.

I would highly recommend the Discraft Luna, again there is definitely a reason they are so popular!

If you live where it is very windy, then there isn't a more consistent putter you can get. I wish they were more affordable, but McBeth's logo must help with my confidence, because my putts have been money as of late. Great putter, a little overstable if you don't spin putt, but a good straight stable flight as a thrower and putter. Highly recommend!

I love this disc. I got the Special blend one and it has nice grip and firmness to where it just feels natural in my hand. The first putt I made with it was actually my first attempt using it on a 35 footer. It has a very predictable fade I feel like if you are someone who likes throwing it off of the tee. Once you beat it in a bit it turns into a straight flyer with little fade towards the very end of its flight. If you are looking for a nice overstable putter to putt and/or throw with I highly recommend this disc.

Giving this a 4/5 only because I bought 5 Lunas in the same plastic, same weight, expecting them to fly the same and they do not. I put with Wardens and was looking for something with a bit more stability for my circle 2 putts as well as a good overstable throwing putter. 3 of the 5 Lunas I got were understable throwers and the glide amongst them was not what I expected or had seen/experienced with a few of my friends lunas. While I have uses for the different flight patterns I was unimpressed with the inconsistency.

I will stick with Wardens as my main putting and throwing putter, but I bag an understable luna as a utility turnover putter that will hold a line.

This is my main putter now. I used to throw a Jawbreaker Magnet - which felt very comfortable and was great. But I wanted something more stable (more resistant to wind), and with a similar feeling plastic. The Luna is stable, and similar to Jawbreaker plastic but smoother. Very consistent flight. My putting game has improved for sure.

I really like the Luna as a driving putter off the tee, especially the Tour Series Z Swirl Lunas. The Luna has a predictable fade and smooth flight path. It can be thrown flat and will go straight and softly hyzer out at the end. I also like to put a little anhyzer on it off the tee and get a very nice and gentle flex line that move left to right down the fairway and then settles down to the left on the fade. The Tour Z plastic is a little more overstable vs the Special Blend, which I think makes it even better off the tee. The special blend plastic has great grip but is still very stiff for that soft of a putter. The rim is very smooth and beadless and allows for you to either keep your finger on the rim of in the notch of your joint very comfortably. I did putt with the Luna for a while when I was experimenting with spin putting and it grabs the chains extremely well.

I recommend any player to use a Luna, either to putt with or to throw off the tee. I find the flight path predictable and easy to control.

I switched to these from Aviars and have never looked back. My main gripe with the disc is that the rubber isn't as long-lasting as I would hope as costly as they are. I have 9 of these discs to practice putting that I've slowly but surely gathered to avoid mass purchases. I can get this disc to 250'+ but at that distance it's a little more difficult to avoid the turn over. I love them for putting. Super grippy. Can get slick if landing in sand/dirt so keep a towel nearby. Definitely recommend.

I absolutely love this disc. I found one in a tree at my local course that looked to be brand new with no name on it. I added it to my bag because I am a Mcbeth fan and always wanted one. It is now my main putter as well as an amazing driving putter for me. I get more of an understable flight out of mine. It will turn ever so slightly in the air with a very nice predictable finish at the end. I also love this because it will hold whatever line I put it on. I can use it for an anhyzer line for a right finishing hole or throw it flat and let the disc works its magic. I love sinking putts with it and with this disc and a lot of practice I'm very confident within circle 1. My one and only fault for this is the plastic on the one I found is not very grippy when it gets water on it at all. I have to spend a lot of time drying if I want to get a good grip. I have since gotten one with the special plastic blend that is a bit more grippy and can handle the early morning dew a bit better. This is absolutely my favorite putter I have tried so far and will be getting more in the future! I would recommend this to any beginner as long as they are willing to spend a little extra for the name and that it is a specialty disc.

I recently got a Luna in the special blend plastic.  With the flight ratings I was expecting it to be overstable, but I have been surprised by how understable it is.  It is a nice putter. As an approach, if I want it to go straight, I need to hyzer flip it. if I throw it hard with a flat release, it will virtually always turn.  You can get a nice smooth turn out of it.  I was needing an overstable putter, so I'm disappointed (that's why only 3 stars).  Perhaps the special blend plastic is a bit less stable.  For context: I can throw a putter maybe 220', and my max driving distance is about 300'.

This is an overall great approach/putter. I like the way I can grip and rip it, but still know exactly what it's going to do. It flies very straight with a slight turn and fade at the end. I've also found it pretty easy to manipulate and get it to do what i want. The only knocks I have on it are what it's made out of and the price for it. If you play on courses with dirt, one toss into it is all it needs to make this disc very "slick" and hard to grip. It's like sand on a shuffleboard table. Make sure, if there's dirt around, to have a clean towel ready to wipe it down. The special blend is also a lot less durable than I would like, especially for the price. It doesn't take much effort to put decent slices into it, trees and chains alike. I wouldn't recommend this to be anyone's starting putter or approach disc for that reason. This would easily be a 5 star disc if it were in the more durable plastics. If you can manage the dirt and your throws though, this is a really great disc that people should have in their bags.

I have finally found the putter for me. I've used an aviar, p2 and now a Luna. I've been searching for a plastic more so than a flight patern because these all fly almost exactly the same. I've been throwing a few 100-200' drives to really see what the fade is and they all turn about the same if you keep the nose down. On to the plastic. The plastic rubber blend feels so good in the hand especially as it warms up in the sun. It becomes very tactile and grips the chains and ground very well. So far even when hot it does not become floppy. I will keep bagging my D-Line P2 and Luna to see if they become floppy over time. If the luna does become floppy i will try to come back and adjust my review.

I finally got my hands on a Luna and it has taken my approach game to the next level. As a newer player ( > 6 months) I never had the confidence to rip into a putter or throw one off the tee. With the Luna it was so easy to trust the line you put it on. That being said, I did find the TS Luna to fly a tad bit more on the overstable side, so I use the special blend solely for putting.

With putting I find the special blend to be the perfect amount of stiffness that I personally like in a putter. It is a beadless putter, which I also prefer in a putter as well. The only con I have is due to the stiffness of the plastic, it does not catch very well in the chains. On the bright side, it forces you to be a more accurate putter, so it is a win-win depending on how you look at it. I would recommend this putter to anyone.

Love the flight of this disc but it doesn't feel right in the hand. If you have large hands I'm guessing this would be perfect for you. I don't so it's not for me. I really wish they would bring this out in a Crystal Flx plastic. Maybe if wouldn't feel so off in the hand.

Of all of the discs I have in my bag, this is my favorite. I like the feel of the special blend plastic. The mold itself feels comfortable in my hands and it seems like my putting has improved since I've started using it. Even some of the guys I play with have noticed the improvement since buying this disc. I will always bag one of these and with the recent restock I am really considering getting another.

Just the right amount of rigidity to be durable and consistent

    low profile and comfortable grip

    No bead

    Grainy plastic for good grip.

Flies straight and grabs the chains

The Luna is the best putter I've ever felt in my hands. The special blend plastic is really stiff which I like out of my putting putters. For putting, it is a very straight disc with some fade on outside the circle putts. I trust this disc when putting in headwinds too. I only use this disc for putting and not off the tee or for approaches. I would like to see this disc in Big Z plastic to use off the tee as I feel it would be a great approach disc in that plastic. The special blend plastic would get to beat in over time if used as an approach disc. Overall, this is my favorite putting putter and I see myself only putting with the Luna for as long as I play.

I can't say enough good things about this disc. I bag 2 discraft blend Luna's for putting, and a Cryztal Luna for throwing. For putting, this disc just feels great in the hand, especially if you are into beadless putters. It has a fairly reliable fade when putting, and I can really give those 50 footers a chance by giving it a tad bit of anny and letting it flex out. I can't imagine a day where I switch up putters. I'm definitely a Luna guy.

This disc really shines as a thrower though. I only use my Cryztal Luna for driving and long approach shots, but the flight characteristics are very similar between the plastic types.  When really pushing this disc, it has ZERO fade. You can throw this on a slight hyzer, let it get flat and watch it fly 280+ feet with minimal effort and basically no fade. This is a true point-and-shoot disc. It has a tendency to leak a little right (RHBH), but I think that's just my release angle more than the flight characteristics. The Luna is also a great disc for turnover/anny shots. When navigating the woods on an approach shot, I trust this disc to hold the line I put it on and float down to my target. I have 2 aces with this disc, and it will be a go-to for a long time.

What can I say about this disc.... well I use to have a ton of success with my judges but couldn't stand the bead. I switched to deputies and just didn't have the stability I needed. Here comes the Luna. The first time I got a Luna I shot my first ever 1000 rated round. The consistency from the Luna is amazing. Great in the wind to throw and even better on the green. I have been thru many different putters but this one is a keeper. Since I have switched, I never looked back. Definitely try this disc and you won't be disappointed.

This putter did not disappoint me, upon trying it out. Some things about it that stood out to me- the bottom of the rim is quite rounded and smooth, unlike most putters. No sharp edges to feel pinched by. Also, the flight numbers are not accurate in my opinion, at least for the fade. This disc does not have much of a sharp finish. It is very much a straight flying putter. Also, the plastic is great for grip and for catching the chains, but it isn't so soft that it will be floppy in hot weather. All in all I think it is a great straight flying, low profile putter.

I absolutely love this disc. I bought this to support Paul who is my favorite player and hoped to find a throwing putter that I could do what I want with. When I first got the disc it had a sligthly overstable finish from a pretty straight flight. But now I can rip this thing straight, get it to flip up and even glide some right before a little fade. I do not like the plastic only because of the durability for a throwing putter. Mine has been getting more and more beat up which helps it for more shot shaping, but I am worried with enough use it will get too understable and I won't have a huge use for it. Especially with how expensive it is, I just don't wanna go out and buy a few for backups. If they could get the price down or produce it in some other higher end plastics I would love it. I've seen a lot of big z or crystal from pros and if that could be released to the public I would snag those instantly because of how great this disc flies. I think if you are a semi-serious to serious disc golfer that wants a relatively stable throwing putter or putting putter I would say go for this disc.

In all reality a putter is a putter, but you haven't played with a putter quit like this one. The Luna is easily my favorite putter I have used ever since I've started this sport. I've been trying to decide on whether to by KC pro aviars or P2s but my buddy had a Luna and he let me try it and I just fell In love. There is really no other disc that feels like this one in your hand. It has a very comfortable feel in your hand, it gives you lots of grip with the special blend plastic while at the same time giving you a smooth feel as well. It's like no other disc I've thrown

The only reason why I say this disc is somewhat beginner friendly because it's a very expensive putter. And if you are new to the sport I wouldn't  be going out and buying a brand new Luna. Unless you are absolutely dead set on buying one.

Now don't get me wrong it's an amazing disc that I truly have fallen In love with. But if you are brand new to the world of disc golf, there's just really no point in buying such an expensive disc unless you are 100% sure you are going to love playing.

Now with all of that being said I absolutely love this disc and I feel like it will be my forever putting putter. I have yet to throw it off the tee but if I come to find out I love it as a driving disc as well I will most certainly be buying a few more. I definitely recommend this disc if you've been playing a while and just want to get a different experience while putting

Being a fan of the Roach, but wanting a more OS version, the Luna was a must have for me. I bought a pair of the original run and hated the plastic but loved the flight, so i didnt bag them. I recently picked up a stack at the 2020 Memorial after feeling the new blend and loving it. If I could get a Ti, Z, Big Z, or ESP version for throwing it would rate an easy 5+ star rating as this is the perfect putter mold for throwing and putting(IMHO). So if you like the Roach but require a more OS disc for putting this will be your go to.

Special Blend Luna (173g) - I'm sure I'm not the first person who has bought a disc because one of their favorite players throws it so well. Well, that's exactly what happened here. Surprisingly, ever since I started using this disc eight or nine months ago I haven't missed a putt in C1 or C2; I only rated the disc four stars because disc golf isn't fun or challenging anymore. None of my friends will play with me and tournaments are too easy. I ace everything off the tee under 150ft that I can jump putt so my controlled driving skills have fallen by the wayside. I wish I had just stuck with my old putter sometimes.

Honestly though, I like the Luna but for whatever reason putting hasn't actually gotten any easier for me. I found that this disc is almost too stiff and never really fit in my hand correctly. I tried throwing it with mixed success, but there are other stable discs with more glide that I prefer for upshots. Plus, this grippy version of plastic feels great in the hand but rips and scratches super easily if it lands on something hard. I ended up shelving the disc and looking elsewhere, but its a good enough disc that I can definitely understand why McBeth and others really like this thing.

I have gone through many different putters over the years.  I have gone through phases with wizards, warlocks, judges, settled on a magic for awhile - fit my hand pretty well.  When these came out the lil fan boy in me had to try it out.  I ended up buying a small stack of em and never looked back.  The plastic is great for my grip and style of putting, it's a shallower feeling disc too.  I don't really throw it all that much, if I can ever get my hands on a big z Luna that may change.

I got this disc because this was Paul McBeth's signature putter. I love the stiffness that the Luna brings. This disc resembles a beadless Judge. This disc is great inside 100 ft for approaching and it is great for putting as well. On a approach shot, this disc holds whatever angle you put it on and it stays with that angle. My game has increased a lot because of the different shots I can take with this Luna.

This is my go-to putter and approach disc within 100 feet.  It is stiff, comfortable in the hand, and it glides extremely well. When thrown it glides nice and straight for most of the way, and then it has a nice fade (not too much, but definitely dependable for those approaches and shorter drives).  Plus, this disc just looks cool, especially with the Paul McBeth mark!  I carry 4-5 in my bag at all times: 2-3 for putting & backup putters, 1 proto for my approaches, and 1 CryZtal Luna for my shorter drives.  My confidence in putting and throwing putters in general has greatly increased since adding these beauties to my bag!  Do yourself a favor and go try one out!

I just switched to these as my main putting putters and I really like how they feel in my hand! I love how stiff they are and have pretty solid grip. I really like the glide these have as well its not to much where its flying past the basket but enough that longer jump putts can easily make it.

The only complaint I have for these is they are not very durable and get pretty beat up super quick. They need to make these in the tough jawbreaker plastic so they can last longer.

Overall I still highly recommend getting this as a putter. Just as an outstanding feel and great flight.

It's simple; buy this disc and putt just like McBeth and you will be golden. But in all seriousness, this is my all time favorite putting putter, but I still bag the Warlock because my main putter needs to be more affordable than these. If the Luna was closer to $10, I would probably bag them. I chose the Warlock because I could buy a bunch for much cheaper, and right now I am happy with the Warlock. But I do have to give the Luna some love.

I love this special, modified version of the Jawbreaker plastic. It's super stiff, but the texture gives it a good grip.

There is something about this disc that makes it feel heavier than it is, which seems to help it fight some wind on putts and gives me that extra confidence that the wind won't toss it around. This also makes it a great disc for putters who like to commit to the putt and slam it home, instead of finessing it in. The heavier feel made me learn to commit to the putt more, since it felt like the finesse shot would fall a little short. That being said, with how stiff and heavy it feels, it can have some slip-throughs or bang off the center pole on rare occasions if thrown too hard.

As for me, I'm a push putter, and this disc performs like a dream for push putting. Straight with a little fade at the end, and the heaviness of the plastic helps in all but heavier winds. Since it's not really a 3 fade like it's listed, more like a 1.5 fade, I switch to my Zone, or Berg, in heavier winds

A great putter, if you don't mind paying the extra money. It's a great plastic and a great putter.  Can't recommend it enough for putting.

The Luna behaves very differently depending on if you are putting with them or throwing them.

Putting: These are my main putters and I love the firmness of the plastic. They can take a good amount of power and fly straight with a reliable fade as it slows. I've never had an issue with these flipping and missing to the right of the basket (RHBH putting).  They have enough glide to smash C2 putts (or longer depending on your ability) but aren't so floaty that wind will pick them up and toss them around.

Throwing:  As a throwing disc these are a very different animal. If you throw it with a good amount of torque these things WILL flip and turn. I do not have much of a fore hand throw so I generally use a Luna when I need to get around a corner. If you watch James Conrad, these seem to fly similar to the green Aviar that he throws that turns and doesn't come back.

I also have a 5x Cryztal Luna that is quite a bit different than the Special Blend Luna.  The Cryztal Lunas are much deeper and have more glide. It doesn't really even feel like the same mold. They are also a bit more stable and I can throw them on an anhyzer and get some good turn but they don't flip like the Special Blend Lunas.

If you are going to use the Special Blend Luna as a throwing disc you definitely need to practice with it because it takes a good amount of touch to be abe to throw it well. Its not a disc that you can take out and just crush it everytime.

I threw these as throwing putters for a lot of the summer. My favorite time with the disc was about a month after I put it in my bag. It would hold any line I put it on. However, by 45 days after using it (3-5 rounds a week), it was too flippy to throw or putt. It’s a great disc in a vacuum, but I’d hold off on buying another until the Big Z comes out. It’ll last way longer. No wonder Paul kept giving them away - they only last a month before they’re too beat in and flippy to throw.

Plastic (special blend) - I waited until stock plastic, so this is NOT proto or first run. The first day of just putting with it gave it deep cuts and it’s pretty torn up. Very disappointed for price of disc, that the plastic quality is so low. Feels cheap and lighter than the posted 173.  To me this disc had very little grip, it’s slick. (Very Mcpro aviar like feel)

Flight - Not sure where the fade (3) came from. Giving it a little power (given that it’s a speed 3) this disc turns for me. To me it’s more like a 1 fade. Compared to a zone (fade 3) and then to an roach, it’s more like the roach.

Putting - If I put a little spin and putt straight it flies straight. It won’t make my bag as a putter until/IF they offer it in a different plastic.

Throwing - In the special blend plastic, this is not making my bag as a thrower. It turns too easy and the plastic will get destroyed hitting ANYTHING. I’ve saw Mcbeth throw that 450 shot with big z, so hopefully they give us a stock throwing plastic soon.

This has turned into my favorite putter. It is a very easy disc to control. I use the prototype run and the big Z limited run. It has a slight negative turn when thrown flat, but just flies straight if it’s given some air. The slim profile of the prototype fits my hand and release better than the other runs, but that’s just a personal preference. A disc I highly recommend everyone gives a try. I hear it worked out pretty well for Mcbeth at Worlds this year too.

These, along with soft roaches have become my putter of choice inside circle 2. Holds the line you put it on, and the plastic feels great. It is basically a roach, but the bottom wing is the slightest bit different. It is not even close to the flight ratings on the disc. Basically the same as a roach at 2/4/0/1. If you drive with it, it will turn over when you throw it hard.

I picked one of these up yesterday and played a round and a half with it. I had no intentions of buying one, but the plastic is very stiff and I really liked the feel of it. It provides a very consistent release. I putt with Judges normally, and this has a similar flight path but with a better and more consistent feel. I prefer beaded putters for throwing so I will keep it for putting, but it may become my main putter here shortly.

I actually like this putter. I bought 4 and cycled 2 in the bag just to practice putt with during casual rounds. At first they were "too straight" for me - I've been using classic Aviars for the majority of my time - now I putt with the Luna(s).

It really wasn't the flight that took time getting use to after all, it was the feel. They are, in my opinion, very stiff, but neutral fliers. I am a straight to chains spin type putter, so they work for me. Thrown too hard, they might bounce out!

I had no real expectations when I bought this disc, only knew that McBeth used it.  What I found was the straightest disc in my bag.  I can throw this full power and it still doesn't turn, nor does it fade.  Just straight.  Ignore the crazy fade rating on this, look at the rest of the reviews it's not OS.

The plastic is quite unique. It is a very hard disc and kind of a chalky/gritty feel.  I like it though.  The mold fits my hands well and KIND of reminds me of a beadless Wizard.

If you don't like beads on your putting putters this one should be on your short list to try out.  Just straight.  Only concern for some would be how firm it is, like I mentioned it's really hard.

This disc to me is very similar to the discraft roach, I however did not like the plastic, it seemed to bounce out of the chains. I did like the flight but I would prefer a different plastic type before going back to it from a roach

I was worried this disc would be too much like my harp given then 3 fade listed, but, at least for me, it does not fly with a noticable heavy fade. I'd relate it to my Fuzion Warden or Neutron Envy, holding a nice straight line with a small fade at the end. It glides for days and will take a bit of power before totally turning and dumping if released flat. A small hyzer release will get you an easy flip to flat and a small reliable fade.

Plastic: The special blend is VERY stiff and sort of slick. Its about as stiff as the stiffer runs of Prodigy's 350g plastic. It has a touch more grip brand new than the McPro Aviars did.

Feel: I've seen several people say that it is a Challenger top and Roach bottom and that seems to check out. I LOVE how this disc fits in my hand for putting. Slightly shallower, more rounded nose and bottom edge than the Aviar. Honestly almost identical to the Roach, just maybe the tiniest bit slimmer but that's also similar to other molds that might mold up slimmer in firmer plastic.

Flight: I only putt this disc, not throw it. For putting, this disc is very straight, and then starts to show its stability outside of about 35 feet. Good glide, but not floaty, just the right amount for me.

One of my complaints I have is that the disc is pretty expensive. $16+ for a single putter is a good amount of money. They have made 3 blends for the Luna so far. The proto blend which was grippy and firm and kinda waxy with very noticeable bumps from the rubber blend. The first run is very firm, and pretty slick to start. But when they're broken in they do get a nice tacky feel to them, but when its under 65 degrees I can't get a good grip on them. And the current run is probably my favorite. Still firm but not as much as the first run, and definitely grippier new and somewhat noticeable bumps again but not like the proto runs.

    Update on my review:

I kept switching putters and couldn't find anything for me but the Luna just fits the bill perfectly, so now I'm sticking with it. But I did find that when it was getting cooler, I couldn't grip the Luna at all, so I compared it with a Roach in store and they're virtually the same. BARELY any difference and I had to really look. I got a Roach in Pro D plastic and its very grippy and nice for the cooler weather for me, and not to mention way cheaper. Almost $10 cheaper actually. So you could get a stack of Roaches for practice putting for the Luna until the Luna comes out in the other base lines, and hopefully not at a price hike.

Plastic Feel:  Very stiff and slick. Not slippery but not gritty.

Mold Feel: I found the mold very comfortable in my hand. It is lower profile with flat top. It has a smooth release for my putting style and flew great.

Speed: It was faster than and aviar, probably due to the lower profile. Maybe a 2.5 speed, not quite a 3.

Glide: Decent glide, I put with a Pilot and the glide was comparable from outside circle.

    Turn: No turn

Fade: I would give it a 1 fade. Not a 3, not even close.

My only complaint about the Luna was that I had two puts go through the chains. One on the weak side and the other on the strong side. It was very strange to see the Luna bust right through the chains on a 30 foot putt.

The Luna is a wonder of a mold. As a putting putter, it's a little fast and a little stable, but it holds the line so well. Its stability makes it reliable inside the circle and its speed makes it effortless outside the circle. It's a relatively shallow mold as well, which makes it great for smaller hands and throwing. Speaking of throwing putters, the Luna comes right out of the box straight and beats in somewhat quickly. Even though the plastic isn't premium, it's really nice and stiff while somehow remaining tacky and durable. This is one of those rare putters that can double as a putter and a thrower. I know that the flight numbers are quite a bit off, but all that really matters is how the disc flies, which is very well indeed.

I've been throwing the Luna for a little while now and am very pleased with this disc. I'm a huge fan of the special blend plastic, it being just grippy enough without going overboard. I for this disc to putt with but I find myself throwing it much more than I thought. For short holes requiring a straight shot, this putter rules off the tee. I get a beautiful S shape out of it, aiming a little ways left of where I want it to be and letting the disc turn over. It's very predictable and has a reliable fade because of it's slight overstability.

I have played with the Luna for a while now and I got to say that they feel of this disc is great. Feels nice in the hand. For me and beginners though probably I little too overstable. I putt with it from inside 60 and it does tmed to be a little too overstable for me. However in headwinds it is great for putting. Definitely will fight strong headwinds for putting.

This putter instantly helped me out. Its smaller profile helps for always having a clean release for those with smallish hands. It is exactly like a judge but without a bead. It is perfect for those who like an overstable putter for putting but stable to understable when throwing the putter. This is the best putter I have ever used!

This disc is great as both a throwing and putting putter. My only beef with it is the flight numbers listed on it are simply wrong. I've bought 3 Lunas and not a single one has any amount of fade to it. In fact, they're even a touch understable when thrown off the tee. This isn't a bad thing whatsoever, it should just be noted if you purchase discs based on their flight ratings. It's listed with numbers similar to a Zone, and it definitely doesn't fly like one. In terms of throwing, think beadless Judge. In terms of putting, think Aviar. The new plastic blend is nice and grippy as well, and very durable.

*This portion based solely on the Proto : Throw Discraft flight numbers out - this putter flies 3/3/0/1  with a DC rating of 0.5 that's how I would see it.   In a putt it is very straight, no turnover (unless forced) very mild fade but its there.  Feels GREAT in the hand, smooth underside allows clean release.  Just aim at the heart and put any angle on it and it basically holds.  Can handle some headwind on a putt but is not a headwind thrower - that sucker WILL turnover.  Plastic is really awesome actually, firm, grippy enough - though was spitting through some chains with the cold/icy/rainy spring weather (to be expected)  Overall I really like the disc ---Great hand feel, flat top, firm, fairly shallow (I'd prefer a lil more thickness) -FYI the proto had a white rubber material blended which raised to the top and created a kinda sandy/gritty feel that i personally REALLY liked - BUT alas the first runs used a black rubber and that blended in smooth - so, idk if thats good news or not.  From what I've heard the 1st Run will be a little grippier, smooth, and a touch less glide and touch more fade than Proto ----all HERESAY - I will do a more complete review later.  Peaceout

**UPDATE: I got the First Runs in.  Plastic is different - mold feel is slightly different where it feels a Little deeper, the shoulder has more of a gradual slope up to the crest/top of the disc - that portion is flat across - VERY similar to a McPro Aviar (who woulda guessed)  The Plastic reminds me of Gateway actually.  Its decent, pretty firm, but has some grip.  Feels fine in the hand - the rounded bottom almost feels more rounded than the Proto but that may be because the top feels a little different.  All not BAD things, but.  I honestly Preferred that Proto run way more.  Time will tell, but basically its a Discraft McPro Aviar in a Gateway Plastic...haha thats not a bad thing.   It putts well and goes straight with a decent lil fade.  Good Putter, and clearly Paul likes it as he's on fire hitting every putt ever.   Its insane.
