Not a beginner disc. I got a slightly used, handed down version from a friend, and it's much more understable than what the numbers suggest, especially broken in. I can't say exactly how it flew out of the box. RHBH If I rip this thing as hard as I flat, it will go 50-100 feet to the right before having a slight fade back. If I rip it 90% on a slight hyzer it will flip up right away and drift a little right and fly very straight with a slight fade at the end. It's a really good disc for a 300 feet wide open straight shot. You can throw it 70% on a 5-degree hyzer and it will fly flat and turn a little before coming back straight. Ripping it hard on a bigger hyzer will diminish the turn and increase the fade. Overall, after breaking it in, you have to learn how to throw it for it to be useful, but it can be used for straight shots, turnovers, and hyzers, a very useful disc.

I originally got a 154g Sorcerer for my daughter.  She didn't use it right away, so my son started using it.  I threw it a couple of times and loved it, so I claimed it.  My daughter threw it a couple of times and she loved it, too!  I bought a 157g version, but we definitely need a 3rd still because all 3 of us love this disc!  It has good glide (not quite as much as some of our 6 glide discs, but close), a little high speed turn when thrown hard enough, and not too much fade.  It's a lot more forgiving than most speed 13 discs.  The flight path makes it look overstable.  Even though all of us are beginners, I would call it stable (only recently have I noticed high speed turn from this disc, though).  It is a great dependable, predictable disc for a wide range of arm strengths.  It's great for narrow paths and wooded areas.  It can also easily be used as a go-to distance driver because of its consistency and comfort.  The VIP plastic does not seem to be wearing at all.

Disc - 173 Westaide Discs VIP Sorcerer

Feel - The sorcerer's rim is fairly wide but it is extremely shallow. It is quite possibly the shallowest distance driver that I have ever felt. Because of that shallowness, it feels better in my hand for forehand shots than it does for backhands. VIP plastic is very durable and provides really good grip in dry conditions.

Flight - The sorcerer is definitely more understable than advertised in my opinion. Even when I put a very steep hyzer on the disc it would still flip up and turn a bit. It was difficult for me to be consistent with this disc because of that understability. It was just a bit too understable for my liking. It does work fairly well for my forehands because I have a very weak forehand so it would flip up to flat for me and glide a decent ways. I think this is a good disc for players that throw around 300 ft on their max distance drives. I think the sorcerer has enough glide to help increase that distance fairly substantially as well.

Overall - The sorcerer is a good disc but it just wasn't for me. It could have fit in my sidearm distance driver slot but I already really enjoy using trespasses for this shot and didn't feel like I needed to change it. I'd recommend this disc for lots of players but it just didn't quite fit in my bag.

I found this disc to be a bit too finicky for my liking. With backhands I could get some really good throws, but if you throw it a touch too fast it can hold an anhyzer and be way off target. I was getting pretty decent hyzer flips, but its just too inconsistent for me to feel comfortable with it. I could easily get this disc in the 400-450 mark if I caught a nice hyzer flip up to s line pattern, but not great in wind, and I can get other discs a bit farther more consistently. I'd say for a medium arm this could be a nice distance driver, but for me it was just a little too touchy for my arm speed. Forehands typicall could get a little better results, as it would pop up and hold a pretty solid straight line and dump out at the end. This one just isn't for me

For a long time I've been looking for my super-straight grip it and rip it flick driver. I'm primarily a RHFH driver and the Sorcerer is the disc that finally completed my bag. It is a little more understable than advertised, but not by an unforgivable amount. I step up to the tee with Sorcerer in hand and let it rip with just a touch of hyzer. It stands up to a dead straight flight, S's on a tight line, and penetrates forward for me. This is my go-to straight line driver and it's getting me that 375 straight line with a clean finish to just under the 400 mark. Buyer beware, the Sorcerer is not for player without a ton of torque and angle control, but if you've got the skill, the Sorcerer is an absolute weapon.

This disc is more understable than advertised. However it is still a great disc. Flat top and shallow rim. Good grip for sidearm or backhand. Go with VIP to get the most overstability.

The Sorcerer is a bit of a finicky driver. It has a wide, yet shallow rim and a flat top. I've never seen a Sorcerer with dome.

The disc itself is very fast and penetrates well. Problem is, the Sorcerer likes to flip over fairly easily and not come back. Its one of those understable discs that has a lot of late fade..... assuming you don't flip it over completely in the first place. It glides average at best. IMO the Sorcerer is a bad choice for guys who throw over about 350'. Its too flippy and inconsistent to be used for extreme long range driving.

I won't call the Sorcerer useless. I've definitely thrown worse drivers. Once you learn how to hyzerflip it the disc will gain acceptable yardage. Still though, there are MANY better driver options in this speed class. I think the Sorcerer is the worst of Westside's high speed driver lineup. I'd rather throw a King or a Destiny for sheer yardage.

Buyer beware: This disc flies nothing like the flight numbers given to it. Much flippier.

The Sorcerer is a disc that will work well for those with a slower arm speed stepping up to the distance driver speeds. It has a ton of glide to keep it going for a long ways. It is pretty understable and should provide a great flight for those looking to get some added distance.

That being said, anything above a slower arm speed will struggle with this disc. It is unpredictably flippy, and anything but a tail wind will always seem to go right when thrown RHBH. It is not forgiving at all when the line is off and will get into more trouble than it is worth.

Just recently bought this disc and fell in love with it. It has amazing glide with a little bit of a fade.  Awesome in the wind and handles well with a lot of power. Nice durable disc. Definitely staying in my bag.

Loving this disc right now. I've had it for a while and originally didn't like it. But after a little field work I've found that this disc is now my favorite for long straight bombs. When I throw it flat, or with a couple degrees of hyzer it turns about 10 feet right, and then maybe fades back about 15 feet left at the end. For a disc of this speed the attributes are really quite nice. Glides for days, can handle a lot of power, and doesn't fade out hard. I'm getting it out to about 375 on almost perfectly straight flight paths, which is exactly what I wanted.

The Sorcerer is a bad mamma jamma!  Great disc! The stability is a little less than advertised but the disc is not understable. Rip close to flat and this disc will fly mostly straight with some turn or give a little hyzer flip and it will laser straight.  Good throws this disc will fly a long way, i have had some of my longest distance throws with the sorcerer.  The disc is thin like a razor blade ready to slice through stuff.  I would not want to be hit at full speed with this thing.  Only negative on this disc is the low fade for such a fast disc.  with the low fade it is not very forgiving.  If you throw hard and get some ani on it the disc will not come back.  Even if you release mostly flat but with a slight outside release the disc will start carving right and not come back. Simply not enough fade. Thats why a lot of players end up thinking this disc is understable as a slight outside release is a very common miss throw and most players do it more than they would care to admit.  The disc isn't turning as much as its just getting more left to right momentum from the outside upon release. Miss throw at 13 speed power not enough fade to recover.  If you are confident in your technique and control of release this is a bomber

173 VIP. Honestly this is just a flippy, lower speed Lat 64 Havoc. A lot of expectations of this being a long s curve type disc. Better for players who are just starting to get into higher speed flippy discs. One step lower from a Havoc and a Bolt.

This disc is rated at too high of a speed.  I throw RHFH and every time I put anything on it it turns and burns fast.  However, I have since started working on a backhand, and with my slower speed it flies exactly like the numbers.  I would guess my top speed backhand is about a 7-9, and it goes straight, glides for days, and had a slight fade at the end.  It has been my go to backhand disc when I need distance, and until I get my form better and speed up, will stay that way.

I got this disc and expected a nice long range straight bomber, what i got was a very understable, very flippy driver. So i tried hyzer flipping it but it still would tip over and go way off to the right on RHBH. I will say this disc had some moments where it would fly right but overall i didnt enjoy the flight. Very bad for windy days.

By far my favorite disc in my bag. This disc as a fantastic glide, even for someone with a lot of arm strength. A really good wind disc, headwind it will turn over slightly before fading which makes for a pretty accurate straight drive, tailwind this disc will glide forever! Seems to be a pretty durable disc as well (as I've hit a few trees with it with little to no physical effects). If you throw the MVP Tesla as a distance driver then you'll LOVE this disc for maximum distance!

The Sorceror is one of my favorite drivers to throw. It's so comfortable in the hand. It has tremendous amounts of glide. And it has a really cool stamp. The Sorceror was the first mod I learned to throw flat and could get out to 300 feet. All my distance drivers before it needed some anny to get out that far. If you have to release the Sorceror with anny, you won't be able to control it very well. Like any other max distance driver, it works best when thrown flat or hyzer flipped.

For whatever reason, Westside's ratings are different than other companies. In almost every case, their molds are more understable than the numbers would have you believe. I usually subtract one from the fade and the turn to make sense of their numbers. It works for the King (-2,3) but not for the Sorceror. To me, the Sorceror needs a -1 on turn to make the numbers more accurate.

If you're trying to disc up to speed 13 drivers, get a VIP Air Sorceror before trying the full weight discs. My Air Sorceror is nowhere near as flippy as the Air King, but your results may vary. With a nice tailwind, the Air Sorceror is my longest disc, but it's not as controllable as a Havoc in those instances where I'd sacrifice ten or twenty feet to land dead straight ahead.

I prefer the VIP line for stability reasons. Those who prefer understable molds would like it more in Tournament plastic. Bigger arms would probably prefer the Westside World or Giant or King.

If you are a newer player, ranging up to a player who's consistantly throwing 300~350', I URGE you to go out and get yourself a Sorcerer.

The only reason, I DON'T give the Sorcerer 5 stars, is simply because, I don't think it meshes well for both the brand new player, and I don't think it works well into a BIG power throwers game either.

Now, this disc will BOMB, I mean it will get through the air, both quickly, and man does it GLIDE. I do state here that the disc, when thrown to speed or force, is a little more understable than it's stamped flight numbers might lead you to think, but as always, this is something we should all know and be aware of. Thats why we test discs out for ourselves.

The Sorcerer continues to make appearances in my bag, and then will leae for a short bit and then return. I love the disc for long "s" flights, and LOOOOOOONG tailwind bombs where I'm just seeking to get absolutely every last bit of distance out of the disc that I can.

So I highly recommend you get out and get yourself a Sorcerer, and give it a valid chance. Don't go out and throw it once and rule it out. Give it a few rounds, a few different angles, and I would be willing to bet that it'll win your heart.

I recently tried a friend's Sorcerer and after the first throw I knew I had to go pick one up. The Sorcerer I use is in VIP plastic, 174g. I throw around 380 feet and this disc has one of the most perfect S flight paths for my distance, I only wish it came Elasto! If you throw a decent amount of Trilogy, then I would almost compare this to my Havoc, but a little more flippy (kind of a stable Tern if you are an Innova thrower, depending on run and plastic type).

This is a great driver and has many uses. It is understable enough to be viable for large turnovers and hyzer-flips, but not so understable it can't be released flat. I enjoy using slightly understable discs for forehands, and this disc is great for it. I can throw a light hyzer forehand, have it stand up and go strait, then fade reliably. This is a good shot for tunnels, and the Sorcerer is the right stability for me to execute it properly.

The Sorcerer is a great versatile driver; it's a high speed driver with a slightly large rim, which I prefer. I do think it is more understable than it is rated, but I highly recommend it. I will be looking for it to come out in Elasto, since that is my favorite driving plastic.

For reference, I am a RHBH Max 375' player with a few years experience...
My Socerer is a 174g VIP Plastic.

For me, the Westside Sorcerer is exactly what I was looking for and now my go-to driver. I've been trying to break in some Pro Destroyers but they just have too much fade for my arm speed, so they want to die pretty quickly at the end. I've been throwing a Champion Tern thinking it'd be understable, but the Champs hardly turn and fly much like a broken in Destroyer. Moving to Trilogy, the Sorcerer has been the answer. Not only will it not fade out at the end, but it has excellent glide for a high speed driver, giving me that extra distance that I was looking for.

My natural release is a slight hyzer, and the Socerer will flip up flat, turn just a bit, flatten out and glide to the ground will a small fade, ending just left of the initial line. It's been remarkably consistent for me with the same flight every time.

I have a good FH and found the Sorcerer to be too understandable and just turns right over. I'd say it's a very stable disc that likes to fly flat.

I suspect someone with a faster arm (400-450+) might like this as a tailwind or pure distance disc as it will likely fly with a big S-turn, or possible hold long anny lines. I've picked up a Sword recently, and that maybe something to look at for bigger arms, as it doesn't turn for me. Flys like a longer Discmania PD.

I was gifted a Sorcerer from a friend and put it to good use.  I found that the fade was very strong, but this could have been because I wasn't throwing it hard enough?  I'm not sure.  It stays in my bag, but only for throws that require a sharp fade.  I don't feel like the fade rating given on the disc is accurate with what I've seen, but again that could be because I don't throw it fast and hard enough.  Beginners beware, this disc will take some getting use to.  I'd really like to see someone that prefers this disc throw it and show me what I'm doing wrong!

When I initially looked at the flight ratings of the Sorcerer, I thought that it would be a good sidearm disc for me, but too fast and overstable for my backhand throw. After a few test throws, I quickly concluded that it's too understable for me to flick, and just about right for big long go for it drives. I guess I shouldn't be surprised as Westside tends to rate their discs substantially less stable than Innova does. I was really excited about the Sorcerer because I like fast discs of course, but don't like 2.5cm rims, my small hands and weak muscles just don't get along with them. I was hoping it would be a lot like the King, which it is. For me the Sorcerer is really fast and lazer beams down a straight line before a gradual fading finish. I had a few long drives that stayed almost completely straight the entire flight. If Speed 13 drivers are typically too fast and overstable for you, but you want a faster disc that will glide forever and give you more wide open distance, you may want to try the Sorcerer.

169g VIP. I had a chance to give this disc a test drive today and all i can say is, wow. I gave this thing full power, flat release, and just kept going. The only thing that stopped it was a tree about 350 feet into the woods behind where i work. If your having trouble with this disc either you dont have the arm for a speed 13 disc or you have a bad release. Just something to take a look at. I bought this because i was turning over my nuke at full power. This thing just goes strait, like laser beam strait. And it glides for days. Love this thing already.
