The Viking Thunder God Thor is a very fast distance driver with an ultra-wide rim. This is a driver that you can trust to fade out at the end of the flight, even if released at an anhyzer angle. Advanced players looking for maximum distance will want to try throwing the Thunder God Thor.

This disc is almost impossible to turnover, even into a ripping headwind. This is my go to disc in windy conditions or for shots that need to cut away quickly. I bag a few glow PD2's and this is significantly more overstable than anything I've thrown at that speed

I will continue my review of a very underrated brand by the name of Viking Discs with the Thor. I have bagged these before and have actually most of the time because of the utility and distance these things provide. You will see many players complaining about the overwhelming stability of the Thor and I can agree that it is very stable. For this mold I tend to prefer the storm plastic, but the armor plastic actually flies better for me even though i prefer the feel of storm. As can be generalized, the Thor really isn't a beginner disc even in the ground plastic because of the rim width and stability. I have somewhat big hands so the feel in that regard was never an issue, but the stability was when I was first starting out. In fact, I literally threw it a couple of times and set it aside. As my form and power developed, it quickly found a spot in bag for a headwind fighter and big distance. I was able to get this thing out to 500' in a left to right tail wind because of the outstanding glide (it is very domey in most runs). It's great for flex shots that go far in any wind really and when ripped low with proper nose angle it actually will hold straight for longer than you think before fading out. It can also generate very large skips which can be useful for many players on the course. Overall, the utility of this disc is outstanding and I would reccomend if you are even at the intermediate level.

This is a very fun disc to throw. I use it as a utility, and likely do not use it as it is intended with a speed 14. Nonetheless, this is a very fun disc to throw around. It is the most overstable disc you will ever throw. It has a very wide rim and is great for shots with a really hard turning finish. It's bottom is flat around the rim and it provides a massive skip at the end. I mostly use this disc for forehand shots but it can be used for backhands too. A disc that takes big skip and overstability to the absolute extreme. Say what you want about it's practicality, it's super fun to have in the bag.

From my experience, this disc seems to be good in extra harsh wind. I expect the disk will turn over and hit the ground as soon as humanly possible.

As for general use, I don't get it at all. I have an OK arm, but I can't see how anyone could get 400+', but for those that do, more power to you.

I don't understand why Viking Discs isn't a household name yet. I have thrown up-and-coming brands before that don't quite make the cut as far as quality and consistency among the other big manufacturers, but Viking Discs, is not that! This brand is legit! I have thrown 8 different molds by Viking Discs and I would recommend all of them to anyone! Their plastics feel great, and the flights are amazing as well. Not to mention the sick stamps on every disc! Do yourself a favor and try some Viking Discs!

Now... on to the Thor. Do you like lots of beef on your burger? How about in your disc golf bag? If you answered yes, grab a Thor! This thing is super overstable but still offers a good amount of glide. This thing would be a great fighter in the wind and perfect for long drives that you need lots of fade. This thing is not going to turn over unless you absolutely griplock it into a headwind. Great for big arm players but still very useful for slower arms. Check out my crew's full review of the Thor (and more) here...

I honestly bought this disc merely for its cool factor, but I actually LOVE it. This disc has become my favorite (RHFH) disc to flick. Thor has taken it's place in my bag right next to my Destroyer. It's as if Thor's Hammer is too heavy for me to take out of my bag. Needless to say, it holds it's lines perfectly and the numbers in my opinion are accurate. I recommend this disc for (RHFH) players.

bomber disc!  I pack a lot of distance drivers in my bag....This goes a good distance further then anything I have. I throw RHFH.   Glide is more of a 6.  The other numbers are correct. Would highly recommend!

I like this disc as an open field bomber (RHFH only) but don't love it.  For whatever reason, I seem to do better with discs that have less glide than the Thor.  When I DO throw it correctly (for my form), it goes as far, or a tick farther, as any other disc I use for distance bombs.  I don't know if it's the rim, the feel of the plastic, my form, or some combination of the three, but I'm not as consistently accurate with this one as the other above-referenced discs (Raptor, Criminal, Spirit). Love the name and the stamp so I'll definitely keep it in my bag.  Not 100% certain I'll replace it if I lose it though.

    Fast and Beefy!

I got the Thor to try out because the name and stamp are awesome. I knew going in that I probably wouldn't be bagging it...Im not a noodle arm by any stretch, but anything faster than a Giant (speed 12 on the Innova scale, 13 on Westside's) dont feel comfortable in my hand due to the width of the rim.

The Thor's rim is HUGE! I would compare it to a Nuke from Discraft. It also has a sharp nose, which you can actually hear when you throw it; Thor just rips through the air. It is actually really domey for a modern, high speed driver. Very pop top. Despite that, the disc isn't totally uncomfortable for smaller hands like mine. It really felt good in a forehand grip.

As for flight, Thor isnt anything special: its fast, overstable and has an average amount of glide. I top out at 420-440 feet flat ground distance, and I was able to get Thor close to that with a full-power flex shot throw. I found it to be reliable into a headwind and on power sidearms.

Thor is for power distance throwers. Its not unusable for me, but man, that rim is HUGE!

The Thunder God Thor distance driver is the highest speed disc by Viking (at least at the time they launched the brand, and I wrote this review). I didn't expect it to be quite as overstable as it was for me, so either I wasn't able to throw it fast enough to maintain a straight line for very long, or is it simply more overstable on the fade. The disc felt a lot to me like a Discraft Nuke, though I'd put the flight pattern somewhere between a Nuke and a Nuke SS (not as dramatic on the fade as a Nuke, but definitely not as understable as a Nuke SS).

Even though the disc was more overstable than I expected it to be, once I got a feel for it, I was able to throw it predictably with some nice turns and high hyzers. Not every disc is designed to fly straight forever, and the Thunder God Thor works well as an overstable distance driver for those who have the arm to get it out there. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, but more as a disc for those who have some experience whipping high-speed discs across the fairway.
