The Slaidi is a fast distance driver made by the Finnish disc manufacturer Prodiscus. Prodiscus compares the flight of this disc to the Innova Destroyer. It is an excellent disc for long forehand drives. The Prodiscus Slaidi is available in both of the Prodiscus plastic blends. Their Premium plastic is clear and durable. It is comparable to the Innova Champion plastic, but with a gummy feel. Basic plastic is soft and flexible, like a cross between Innova Pro and Star plastics.

First of all I have to say Prodiscus plastic is probably the best there is. It's the most grippy firm blend out there. I was just a little dissappointed in the overall flight of this disc. The one I had was very overstable.

Not quite in the Rask territory but more XCal. Very beefy and thus it faded sooner and harder then I wished. Typical shot would be 325-340 after a long straight flight then strong fade.

I lost it and didn't buy another, but have considered trying it again. I just love their plastic!

First Impression: Wow, this disc is stable!!

Feel in the hands: The Slaidi is a wide rim, high speed driver. When I first put it in my hands my thought was "Wraith." It is listed as a 12 speed but feels more like an 11 speed in the hand. the bottom of the rim looks a lot like the new, overstable Destroyer mold (early Paul McBeth) with the inside edge flaring more steeper downwards as you move toward the center of the disc. The flight plate is very domey, like Destroyers tend to get sometimes. This disc will strike anyone as a very domey disc, so if you are a flat fan, this might not be the disc for you. The Premim Prodiscus plastic feels almost exactly like a mix between Trilogy Opto/Lucid/VIP plastic and Innova's Champion plastic. Prodigy 400s plastic also comes to mind when thinking about how the Premium plastic feels in my hand.

Flight Characteristics: The first shot I threw with this was a slight hyzer angle. The disc didn't pop up at all and just held a straight hyzer line the entire flight. This disc was much more stable than I was expecting, it surprised me much like the Latitude 64 Opto Scythe did when I tried it out. As I tested the disc out more, I found it is best for powerful hyzers. It definitely is not a distance disc for me, the only time I got the disc to fly relatively far was with an extremely steep anhyzer for a flex shot line. The dome on the disc does seem to add some glide, but the disc is still very overstable.

Comparison: There are a lot of fast, overstable discs out there. This one reminds me most of the Latitude 64 Opto Scythe. It is like a more overstable Gold Line Flow or Star Destroyer, but is less overstable and slower than a Latitude 64 Opto Stiletto or an Innova Champion Ape.

Conclusion: If you're looking for a new disc that is fast and overstable, this might be a great disc to try out. Prodiscus isn't as popular in the United States of America as it is in Europe, but they have surprisingly great plastic. There is a reason a lot of the top European Players throw for Prodiscus, and the Slaidi is the first indicator to me that their plastic and discs are professional calibur manufacturing. It is fast and overstable, I can imagine players like Simon will throw insane distance shots with this disc (if he were to throw it, he's not Prodiscus), while the rest of the population will find this to a great overstable spike hyzer disc, or a good forehand disc. I didn't try it out forehand, but I can tell it will be great for those.

After one day using this disc, I'm a big fan. To me this flys very similar to the Destroyer or the Dynamic Discs Trespass. For me the SLAIDi is the perfect speed, rim width, and stability for distance forehand throws. When I have a wide open field I rarely drive forehand, but after a few great throws with this I was driving it sidearm wherever possible. I got several birdies thanks to the SLAIDI yesterday. Great distance driver.
