The Prodigy F5 is a straight-flying fairway driver that's not quite as understable as the current F7. At 1.9cm tall, the F5 is significantly taller than the existing fairway drivers, which all have a height of 1.5cm. This disc is very domey and has a wing length, or rim width of 1.8cm, just like all the other Prodigy fairways.

I really love how this disc flys. The only part I really didn't like is the flashing on the disc from the factory, everyone told me to cut/sand it off and it feels really good now. Its a great hyzer flip to straight or finishing right disc, its my go-to in the woods for sure.

The F5 is one of my work horse FW discs and can’t imagine playing without it. It slots in right between my understable Maul and my Stable/Straight Opto Glimmer River.

I have a 400 max weight and a 750 max weight. The 400 is just ever so slightly domey, but just ever so. It’s almost flat. Then the 750 is flat. The 400 plastic has the look of Champ or C line, but it’s more along the lines of Star or S line in it's flex. The 750 plastic is much stiffer and more like a Champ or C line in terms of flex/stiffness. And it’s about 50/50 with its opaqueness. You can’t see thru it, but it definitely lets in more light than an opaque disc, giving it a gorgeous look out in the sun! The rim shape on both feels amazing in my hand and is one of my favorite discs to hold. It also feels amazing for FH’s, since it’s not domey and has a flat to somewhat bulging rim shape (like an FD2), instead of concave.

The flight of the 400 is more indicative of a “normal” F5. It’s a 7/5/-2/1 ish disc. More like a 7/5/-1.5/1. When thrown at controlled speeds and slight hyzer (what I’d call a normal shot), it flies with -1.5/1 turn and fade. It leaks 5-10’ out right, stays there, then has a baby fade at the end. But with a net flight of ending a little right of center. If thrown harder, it will turn more. If thrown flat, it will turn more. If thrown on a 45* hyzer angle and hard, it’s a money tight woods hyzer flip disc. But, it’s a bit touchy sometimes and has some random flight paths occasionally. Sometimes I’ll throw it on a fairly steep hyzer and smooth and it will take off right and just keep riding that turn and never come back, when it should have gone dead straight. Other times I’ll throw it pretty flat, thinking it's going to turn right pretty hard and it barely turns at all. It’s kind of weird. But most of the time it goes where I expected it to go.

The 750 is a bit more predictable overall. But It has a bit of an odd S flight though, even though it’s super stiff and should be more stable. It turns right quicker than the 400, but always comes back left with about 1.5-2 fade. It’s so strange. ALWAYS. I can throw it flat, hyzer, steep hyzer, and it always has a form of an S flight. But I can count on it being more predictable more often than the 400. And they both don’t do well in the wind. Especially the 400. It can get squirrelly in any sort of wind above a slight 5mph breeze. I’d say the 750s flight is like a 7/5/-2/2. So strange.

Also, neither one is what I would call a LONG FW disc. They are more like control FWs, with most of my other FW’s all going longer distances with the same amount of effort. But it’s not massively shorter. Maybe like 10-20’. And both are great on FH shots because of the thinner profile and rim shape. Great for hyzer angle release FH shots and good for recovery shots out of the woods or left side of the FW when you need an understable disc to throw out to the right on a FH and let it keep curling back left.

Overall a really good FW disc that I use often. Just wish the 400 was more predictable. I love how predictable the 750 is, but don’t like the flight path. LOVE the flight path of the 400, but it’s kind of unpredictable occasionally. Not often, but it happens so randomly and I can never understand why? Usually when you throw a shot and it doesn’t do what you want, you know exactly why. I put too much hyzer on it, or I threw it too hard, or I didn’t start it out left enough. But this 400 just randomly flies places I’d never expect sometimes, and that’s frustrating. Although, it’s never too bad and never ends too far from where I expected it to go.

Overall I’d highly recommend this disc, but with the suggestion that you try a bunch to find one that you like the flight of best. And is predictable. I can see why Kevin Jones likes these so much now after using these 2 for a few years and getting to know them well.

This was my first fairway driver. I really like the stability level for a beginner throwing 175-300 ft. Not too much turn nor too much fade.

Comfortable in my hand, quality plastic.

Why not 5 stars: my Innova TL gives me a little more distance and is a little less sensitive to wind conditions. I slapped a LED light and still use the F5 for night rounds.

I am an 888-rated player with almost 2 years of experience.

I love the F5. I bag 2 (a 400 and 400g). My 400g beat in to be a great understable woods fairway driver, and my 400 flies perfectly straight with great glide.

Background: I am a 916 rated player and my max distance is ~450 feet, right-hand backhand.

    174g 400 F5

The F5 is one of my favorite fairway drivers I have ever thrown. In 400 plastic, the F5 is definitely understable. Thrown flat, the disc will gradually turn over and drift right for the majority of its flight, and will not fade back much at the end. I find that the F5 is most useful when thrown with a good amount of hyzer, and hyzer flips with this disc are where it excels better than any other understable fairway driver I have thrown. It is my go-to fairway driver for shaping lines in the woods. If I need to hit a gap, I will throw the F5 on hyzer and watch it flip up instantly and fly straight. I can also power up on hyzer flips and get the F5 to flip, turn over, and finish right, which is very beneficial to me as a backhand exclusive player.

I liked my first 400 F5 so much that I purchased the disc in 400 Spectrum and 500 plastics. The 400 Spectrum F5 gets very little turn for me with a much stronger fade, and the 500 plastic is much flippier than my 400. This inconsistency between plastics is one of the downsides of the disc.

If you have a slower arm speed or you like manipulating understable discs, the F5 would be a great disc to try out. If you are not a fan of discs that are touchy to throw, I would consider an F2 or look elsewhere.

I own 2 of these both in 400 both purchased new within 2 months of each other & I would give 5 stars, but they fly nothing alike. The yellow one I have flies fairly understable. Almost impossible for me to forehand without turning over unless i but it on a huge hyzer angle. The white one doesn't turn at all backhand & finishes overstable. Forehand turns a bit but always finishes stable.

Smooth, easily controllable, flip to flat and holds any line I throw. My power is around 350ft, and I can mash this disc on a slight hyzer and it will do anthing I want. Feels amazing in the hand.

This is, without question, the straightest, most workable fairway driver I've ever thrown. These things can absolutely bomb, and I genuinely do think it's the best mold for this shot shape. Beginners will find this mold to grant them effortless free distance, while more advanced players will find a phenomenally reliable fairway driver that can hold straight lines for days.

Hyzer-flip city.  I also use this disc for short technical sidearm flip-up shots.  If you work on your angle control then this disc can carve any line you want through the woods - backhand or sidearm.  On a full rip it will get over and stay over, which can also be useful.  Useful fairway driver for the woods technician.

When I first got this disc, I had a decently slower arm speed and this was easily the straightest disc I had, never really fought over but had a nice finish! Now that I've gotten a little better and progressed my arm, this now has become a very long turn over shot or a hyzer flip to slight turn with a little fade. Definitely one of my favorite discs I have thrown to date!

Wow exactly what I was looking for in a neutral fairway driver.  400 plastic feels so grippy!  For a throw with any kind of power you'll need to hyzer flip but this thing loves to push straight with a decent amount of turn. Given enough height it'll come back to end up with a straight finish.  Thrown on a super hyzer release and a slower release it will hold hyzer and glide to chew up lots of ground. This is the only prodigy disc in my bag but it's filled a niche.

The F5 is an awesome choice for anyone looking for a neutral fairway driver that is easy to control. It replaced my Champion Eagle with flying colors. Feels great in the hand and holds any line you put it on with a slight yet predictable fade.

This filled a slot I was missing in the bag for a fairway driver that would flip up and fade and have a soft finish. Great for guys and gals starting out that don't have the arm speed to get more stable plastic to fade.

The F5 is definitely one of the more underrated discs out there. I live at a faily high altitide which makes things fly a little more stable, so take that into considerartion. The F5 is a great disc for all skill levels. With not too much power, you can make the disc fly dead straight and essentially fly like a longer midrange. With a little more juice, you can get a hyzer flip, that may even go into a s curve flight. Despite being only a 7 speed, the disc gets incredible distance simply due to the ease it takes to throw

Prodigy's F5 is a very neutral flying fairway driver. You can really get a variety of fairway shots needs covered by this disc. When really thrown with power I was able to really get some nice anhyzers. One thing I didn't love about the F5 is the feel in hand. It is a rather domey disc, and I am used to discs with less. Overall, the F5 is a nice compliment to an F1 or F2.

I have two F5's;  an "X-out" and one I bought from someone.  I bought the X-out on a whim to try Prodigy.  It quickly became one of my favorite discs after a few throws.  I mostly throws.  Right out of the box, it had a small turn, but went mostly straight.

I've since built a prodigy bag and picked up a second F5.  This flies more stable then my other, but I love it!  I can get it to fly completely straight with a tiny fade at the end or throw a nice s-curve with it.

Both discs compliment each other perfect; I have no need for the "overstable" slot.

Got a new F5 in 400S plastic and after a few rounds of breaking it in, it's doing exactly what I want from it. I can get good distance, slotting in nicely between my midrange and drives, but with the accuracy of a mid, since I'm using a standing throw. Takes a gentle S flight with a soft landing, making it good for tight tunnels too. Unlike the 350G version I had, I can really put my arm into it without it getting wonky on me. I rated that one not beginner-friendly, but I think this would be a good starting driver to learn on.

Perfect for shots you want to finish right. Once this disc turns right it is not coming back unless you put it on a huge hyzer. If you feel any headwind make sure to put it back in your bag and chose something else.

I have a 173g 400s F5. I absolutely love the F5. Has tons of glide and can really push the limits on Fariway Driver distance. My longest throw with the F5 was 375' on flat ground. Very consistent flight and flies pretty close to the numbers. On a full power flat throw it will exibit some slight HST and very mildly fade out at the end. Would recommend a lighter version to a newer player (165g to 170g), but great disc overall!

As a huge Prodigy fanboy, bagging almost the entire line, I can confidently say that the F5 and F7 are reversed! (I would rate the F5 as a 7, 6, -2, 1 or even .5 fade and the F7 as a 7, 5, -2, 2)

The F5 is a great disc. Straight as an arrow if thrown flat, but, can easily be turned into a long flexing anhyzer. This is one of my favorites for dogleg right shots (RHBH) easily pushing 325'-350 on a solid right path with just enough fade at the end to straighten out. This is one of the most obedient discs I bag. Depending on your power and release angle, you can place this on any line you want and it will hold it consistantly.

Solid disc for moderate speed throwers in their first season after grasping the basics of the game. Controlable, not too over or understable, fast enough to drive good distance but not so fast as to fade out when not thrown hard enough.

I bought this disc because I wanted something that wasn't overstable and wouldn't fade so hard. Immediately, I could tell that this disc was the one I would use when needing to throw a straight shot when throwing RHFH off the tee. Using this disc when throwing RHFH, it has a slight turn to the left off of the line, but then stays straight parallel to the target line and fades back on target gently for me. It doesn't flip over to a roller unless you put it on that angle intentionally. It has similar flight numbers to an Innova Leopard, and to me is easier to throw than the Leopard.

As others have said the disc just doesn't seem to match up to the listed flight characteristics.  My disc is NOT domey and is flat to concave.  I get no turn and probably a 3 on the fade. Not what I was expecting.  Sounds like maybe some inconsistency in production. YMMV

Gotta get the right F5, and when you do you'll never want another fairway! A lot of F5s do not fly the way they are supposed to. Most are more stable than they suggest. Find a domey, light weight F5 and season it to your best fairway ever.

Straight with marginal turn and predictable fade. WIll hyzer-flip and anny, but will fight back some on longer turnovers. Fantastically controllable.

Once again Prodigy surprises me with how not understable their discs are. With a '5' in the Prodigy naming spectrum, I was expecting something understable but my 171g F5 is a perfectly stable disc (my disc does have a slight defect making it slightly concave at the top which might affect the stability, so my experience might be substantially different than others). For me, this disc flys perfectly straight with no turn at all and then gradually hooks to the left on my backhand throws. I was expecting to line drive this thing right at my target like I do with my Latitude 64 River, but it was far more over stable and always faded at the end of the flight.

Initially I didn't like the feel of the F5, it's a little domier than the other Prodigy fairway drivers, but after I played a few hours with it I got used to the feel and really liked the consistent flight. During my tests one interesting thing is that I loved throwing this disc tomahawk. My accuracy was right on when throwing this disc overhand. After the weird flip over S curve motion it landed right in line with where I was aiming. I wasn't able to get much distance with the F5, but that's not the purpose of a fairway driver anyways. If you want a stable, but not overly stable driver, this disc could find a spot in your bag.
