The D4 is a slightly understable distance driver in the Prodigy line. This disc is an amazingly far distance driver for intermediate players, and disc golfers with moderate arm speed. Even beginners and amateurs will have moments where they can make this disc sail. The glide this disc offers is excellent and it has a very limited end-of-flight fade. The D4 has a soft beveled rim that allows for a smoother, more comfortable release. Some credit the longer flight to the more efficient inner rim. This disc, like the other drivers in the Prodigy line, has very similar dimensions and the same rim width (2.3 cm). By getting used to similar feeling discs that react differently, disc golfers should be able to throw more consistently and can choose their specific distance driver based on the shot they face.

I wanted to post a second review for the D4 now that I've had one in 400 plastic for a bit. It's still flippy even for my arm speed, but is much more controllable and durable versus my Air D4. The 400 is just as domey as the Air but it still feels nice. Throw this out on a hyzer and you'll see it stand up and start drifting right (RHBH). If you don't mind domey discs on forehand it's really nice to start learning touch with wider rims. Thus far, it's been really nice and gives me some extra distance on those longer open holes.

The D4 was probably the biggest surprise and disappointment I have had with the prodigy distance drivers I have tried so far. I may have gotten one that is just weird or maybe I just can't generate power with this disc. But my D4 did not fly understable at all, out of the box it flies dead straight and still has a good amount of finish left at the end. I can throw it on hyzer and it barely flips up and finishes strong every time. If I throw it flat it flips ever so slightly and then hyzers out. When throwing on anhyzer it does not hold for very long or turn over, it starts to fight out and has a nice long flight. I am hoping as I beat it in I notice a lot more natural flip but out of the box I did not expect it to be this overstable considering it is a -3 turn. I know I am not the biggest arm so I am hoping I just found a decently stable one.

Very reliable understable disc that I can take a bit off and control with a flex shot. I am a prodigy fan as I have never had a disc from them that I have not had a use for in my bag. The D4 is no exception. I can use as a roller or throw a hyzer flip and it holds a true line for me with a decent slow fade out. The versatility of shot shaping is so amazing with prodigy. If you're seeking another great option from this line then get a D4 in your bag.

I was hoping to get a longer sidewinder flight with this disc. It's been a year, and I have had to learn what this disc will do.  It's not all that understable, IMO. It always comes back at the end, which I have come to enjoy. I can put an anhyzer line on it and it won't turn and burn on me.

When thrown flat (RHBH), it moves out to the right, straightens, and comes back at then end. It goes a long way, too. This plastic is tough, and it took a while to break in- in fact I think it is still breaking in.  This disc needs some room to work its line.

Not recommended for the newer players and undeveloped technique. You need to put a lot on this to make it work.

update 2017-- I've improved my technique and now like this disc more. I can put enough mustard on it to make it do its thing, and I like it a lot now. I like it better than the D2&3 I bought. It's got enough turn that you can make a roller shot or long turning/turnover type shot. You can hyzer flip it if you have enough speed.  Solid fade.
