The D4 is a slightly understable distance driver in the Prodigy line. This disc is an amazingly far distance driver for intermediate players, and disc golfers with moderate arm speed. Even beginners and amateurs will have moments where they can make this disc sail. The glide this disc offers is excellent and it has a very limited end-of-flight fade. The D4 has a soft beveled rim that allows for a smoother, more comfortable release. Some credit the longer flight to the more efficient inner rim. This disc, like the other drivers in the Prodigy line, has very similar dimensions and the same rim width (2.3 cm). By getting used to similar feeling discs that react differently, disc golfers should be able to throw more consistently and can choose their specific distance driver based on the shot they face.

I love the D4! Great understable distance driver! Works great as a first distance driver for newer players, a great straight or slightly understable driver for slightly faster arms, and a fantastic hyzer-flip disc for bigger arms! I've used the D4 for so many shots in my game and can't say enough good things about it! I love it in the 400 plastic. It starts out a little stable, but beats in perfectly to be exactly what you are looking for in that understable slot in your bag!

The D4 is beginner friendly for golfers who are comfortable throwing distance drivers. Beginners in general should throw mid range discs until they can hit at least 275' IMO. That said, the D4 is one of the best disc I have ever come across for distance shots. With slight adjustments to the angle of release, this disc can cover distance all hyser, it can flip to flat and ride and if you throw it with an upward angle and some power, you can get a huge turnover that actually fades forward. I have hit 425 with this on a high turnover and probably  only reached 380' with any other disc on a flat plane. The real value of the D4 is on the forehand side. Throwing this disc low and with a hyser angle produces a long flip to flat with a gentle fade. It is my go to driver in wooded courses where I have to hit a line and get low distance. I think the best aspect of this disc is the distance you get after fade begins. If you can keep from turning all the way over, you will get a long ride once low speed characteristics kick in.

It has essentially the same flight and distance as a Tern. A bit more high speed stability than the numbers indicate but still fairly easy to hyzer flip and get a nice long S curve flight with a stable finish at the end. One of the few discs I own (along with the Tern) that I feel confident getting 400+ feet with consistently (RHFH), but it needs a decent amount of room to work with and the right wind to get the full flight.

The D4 is a really fun disc to take out to a field and experiment with.  I had never tried to do rollers before but it does not take much for this disc to do that.  It is not very accurate for me so I don't take it onto the course much, but fun to just mess around with.

After working my arm speed up from Buzzz's to Thunderbirds's to Wraith's I was in the market for an understable maximum distance driver. I had never experimented with understable discs so I did a lot of research using reviews and the flight matrix and settled on the D4. Up to this point I had never thrown Prodigy discs but was immediately blown away! My first throw with this disc was a 360' Par 3 that was downhill and slightly left, the disc hit a smooth right turn just off the fairway and then faded back onto the fairway and landed only five feet from the basket! The entire flight my group was calling an ace and we were all stoked at the line this disc was on even when it didn't hit that ace! I immediately went back to the store and purchased the same disc in 400G and 750G plastics. All the discs I purchased are in the 172g-174g range. I would say the 400 and 400G plastics are truer to the flight numbers and will let you flip them however you please! The 750G is just as awesome but will resist turning just a slight bit, I found this to be a good thing as it gives me options dependent upon the line I need. If I need to trust the disc more than the slight variables that go into release angle I'm throwing the 750G but if I need maximum distance I am reaching for that 400 plastic and letting it turn right to flip up to straight for about 410 feet! I really cannot say enough about how much I love these discs for that spot in my bag, Prodigy has made a lifelong fan of me and I will be exploring other models to compliment my Innova/ Dicraft dominant bag!

If your a beginner this is a disc you will want in your bag. Goes very straight for a longer time.. if your more advanced then perfect for you as well.. this is my bomb disc that I use for max drives as I can get it to fly straight fade to the right and come back softly to the left . Very fast disc and dependable disc.. my wife likes this disc light for windy situations and it's a straight flyer for her.!! Must get!!!

I love this disc, I can put a lot of power behind it and flip it up to flat and have it hold that line, release it on a slightly less hyzer and make it turn slowly and hold the line, or I can get great roller distance and control out of it.

This is a fantastic disc. I admittedly don't have another understable distance driver to compare it to but I don't know what another one could do better! It can go DEAD straight it you give it a hyzer flip, it can do a great turn over shot, and you can get some serious distance out of this. My average distance with a driver is 390 and this is the disc that goes over 400 the most for me. I lost this in a lake once and had ordered another one within 30 mins of getting home. I love it!

Which D4 did you get?  I've bought 2 of these in the same plastic, same weight and they are 2 different discs.  The first one I bought is great for anyhzers, and hzyerflips. Understable with a bit of fade at the end, pretty much flies as advertised, alhough I found it a bit more understable.  The 2nd one I got is only a little understable with that same fade at the end (11, 6, -2, 2).  This disc can be ok for newer forehand players trying to get a bit of anny on their shots.  So the first disc I got I would give 4*, the 2nd disc I'd give 2* so that's why the 3* rating.

I'm somewhat of a newb so please don't expect a technical report. I mostly throw MVP/Axiom as well as the Latitude 64 Saint, but wanted to try out a Prodigy.

If I was to have tried this disc when I first started out, I'd of likely gave up on it as it can be inconsistent. But I can say that when I do throw it right, it goes pretty good. I definetly need to get more practice in if I ever expect to get it to fly consistent.

As for materials, I do like the 400 plastic's feel, but not so much the color. I ordered yellow and it's more of a two tone. The flight plate is a nice yellow, but the rim is almost tan in color. It doesn't effect flight so I guess it's not as big of a deal.

This disc is growing on me. When I first got it, I did not have the arm strength to get this disc up to speed at all and it would just die out and fade hard quite quickly. After some form tweaking and getting a little more arm speed, I am finally seeing the turn on this disc, and it will turn for a while before it starts coming back. I am now getting much more distance with this disc than any other in my bag. I am excited to continue to see what this disc can do now that I am improving my game with it.

I bought my Prodigy discs with the intention of putting them away to collect. But, the urge to throw them was too great. I waited until we got a few inches of soft snow on the ground to go throw them so they wouldn't get banged up. First off, the plastic they are made from is really soft and grippy as heck. I love the feel of it. The rim underneath is super smooth, and my short fingers easily wrap around and grip really well. It feels like the disc fits my hand perfectly. Since I haven't been playing that long, I don't have the strongest arm, or can throw super far yet. However, my first throw with it went way further than I expected. Since I was throwing in my yard, which isn't all that long, I threw with only about half of what I would normally drive with. It sailed almost to the end of the yard with very little effort. So far I am impressed, and I'm considering buying another one to throw out on the course.

So far I am not impressed, Since they were out of stock everywhere online as soon as I heard my local shop had them I dropped what I was doing and ran out to get them. They don't live up to the hype at all. The plastic feels nice but the colors are nasty and it doesn't go where I want it. I tried many different throws and it just doesn't work for me.

I have a 174 D4 in Proto Plastic. After my first round with this disc, it disappointed me. I expected more distance and more high speed turn. But, the D4 has since come back strong. This disc flies amazingly well as a hyzer flip because it stays so straight and doesn't drop left too much. I can also get massive distance with this if there is a tailwind and I snap it hard. Still waiting for this disc to "break in."
