The Prodigy D1 is an overstable, ultra-high-speed driver (speed 13 using the Innova system). Like all very high speed drivers, the D1 has a thick (2.3 cm) rim. While the rim is considered thick, it isn’t maximum PDGA width. The width is the same as discs such as the Innova Krait and Westside King. While the D1 is overstable, it isn’t a “meathook”, or one we would classify as “very overstable.” The D1 is a fantastic driver for power throwers, windy shots, forehand throws, and strategic doglegs.

This review is for the Matty O 750G Spectrum D1 with the Mardi Gras mask

Bottom Line Up Front: This is hands down one of my favorite drivers of all time. It is less overstable and offers way more glide than most other D1s.

These things launch. If you want a max distance driver then I'd recommend this highly. I'm not sure what it is, or why they fly so different from the other D1's I've thrown, but I absolutely love these. I'm not opposed to very overstable distance drivers by any means. Its just the way the Matty Mask D1's so easily flex-line and go forever. This was a tour disc for one year, and they are harder and harder to come by. If you see them for under $40 get it. I've contemplated buying them considerably more than that. On top of having such a beautiful long flight this disc also looks stunning. Prodigy is probably leaps above the competition when it comes to their plastic aesthetics. The colors are so bright and "swirly" with their spectrum discs. This disc  went very overlooked when they came out, and were overshadowed by a lot of others that year.

It's not made for beginners, even though its more user friendly than most other distance drivers. I just believe distance drivers as a class aren't for beginners.

Similar Discs: Any other version of a 12,5,-1,3 distance driver with more glide. I realize that the D1s flight numbers aren't that, but this one actually flies kind of like a 12,6,-1,2.

P.S. I have gotten a blue, gray, lavender spectrum one that is one of the most OS drivers I own. It is a outlier to the 10 or so others I've thrown that are all super glide-y kind of overstable 12 speeds.

My favorite driver of all time. I have 400-420 consistent power and it is my most reliable disc. I throw it on a bit of hyzer and it will just stand up to flat before have a reliable fade. I have some in 400g that are beat in enough to get a little turn and even one lighter weight one that bombs. In my opinion prodigy makes the best plastic and 750g is the best plastic on the market in terms of stability and feel.

The Matty O D1s are "the everymans" D1, with the caveat still being that I wouldn't put a D1 in a newer players hands. If you have 350ish feet of distance, give it a look. You will probably get more performance out of it than a stock d1!

The Matt Orum Signature series 750g (Spectrum) is an AMAZING disc! A little less stable than most D1 runs.  Closer in stability to a D2 in flight. Some of my best forehand drives I've ever had during tournament rounds have been with this disc. I prefer this rim size for a forehand throw.  The max series is a shallower rim, but I have trouble throwing for power since there is less space for my fingers.

If you throw Dynamic discs...this flies much like a Sheriff or beat in Trespass....just a little bit longer.
