This is a beat up star Firebird. I see marketing and people trying to call it LSD's thundy, and I disagree with this idea. It doesn't really hold a line like that, you can get it to go straight because it holds a flex, but not on a pure hyzer or flip up. Maybe like a beat in madcat is similar to the freshest and most OS of thunders, that could be true for sure. End of flight fade is a touch bitier than that. I'd say it's a perfect 9/5/0/2.5

The Mad Cat bridges the gap between a Thunderbird and a Felon, perfect for dependable backhand and forehand shots alike. Although a bit faster than the Dos X, it has many of the same flight characteristics.

I use my mad cat on almost ever hole I can use it on. It's my favorite control driver for finesse shots! It's got the perfect stability to be used for almost any shot that you want to come back!

My go to disc for RHFH shots! More stable than a Thunderbird with more glide than a Firebird

I bag the Mad Cat in both Alpha and Bravo plastic. It is an incredibly consistent disc. It is going to fly the exact same every time you throw it. The Alpha is a bit more stable and gets more ground play while the Bravo seems to have a touch more glide and sticks the landing better.

This discs by the numbers says it should be thunderbirdish and that is not the case. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. This disc is more like a firebird and a thunderbird had a baby. It is reliably overstable. I have 2 my 174 I use just like a firebird it handles all my forehands and skip shots under 300'. My second is 163 and I can get that one to hold straight longer backhand and get a little flex forehand and reach closer out to about 330'

Since I already experienced the Penny Putter, I decided to try a Mad Cat.

To me, this seems like a beat in max weight star Thunderbird. Stable enough to forehand with a fairly straight line. Good headwind fairway. Plastic is amazing.

If you like Thunderbirds....give this one a shot.

I picked up a Mad Cat admittedly for the name and the cool stamp (Well done Lone Star).  I started throwing this thing as a forehand control driver and I get right around 300' out of it.  My forehand form is terrible so the extra stability  of this disc helps to straighten out my flight.  I have found that I really like this as an overstable backhand disc as well with a nice clean release.  I have a Kastaplast Stal in this slot of my bag but I go back and forth now between the two.  I thought initially that this disc had no glide (like a 3 rating) but as I have thrown the disc more and broken it in just a bit the glide has really come out.  I now know why it has a 5 glide rating.  This disc took me a few rounds to figure out but I love it now that I  have.

Forehand finesse disc! I don't have a long forehand shot, but I can hit most of my lines up to 300' with this disc. This disc has turned those technical wooded par 3 holes at my local course from Bogie/Par holes to Birdie/Par holes for me. With this disc I can see the forehand line and then hit it.

For me it flies like a brand new OS Thunderbird, but in a super premium plastic that is similar to Prodigy 400G without any flashing whatsoever. It feels fantastic in the hand and due to the smooth rim I'm able to have more of a consistent release on my forehand shots.
These boys in Conroe, TX know how to make one heck of a disc!

The flight I get is very reminiscent of a seasoned Sexton Firebird, but a heck of a lot easier to find!

Already ordered another Mad Cat after my first round at my local wooded course!

For anyone out there who likes to dye discs the Bravo plastic takes dye extremely well!

Seeing the amazing Mad Cat stamp I had to try one of these guys. I like trying new discs from companies that are breaking into the scene and if this disc is any indicator of the rest of their offerings I'm interested.

Bravo plastic is grippy and flexible, not floppy but along the lines of a mid point between Star and G*. Grips well even with sweaty or mildly wet hands.

In flight it reminded me a lot of a C PD, and the feel is close, although the edge doesn't taper as much and the one I got has a touch more dome. Thrown flat forehand it would hold a line and fade late and hard to 350-370ft. With a bit of flex and height I was getting just over 400ft with the Mad Cat. On backhands it excelled at spike hyzers and skip shots, but my less powerful backhand couldn't push it much over 350ft.

I think many lower powered players would find this too overstable to be useful, but mid powered players could use it very well in their overstable control driver slot. It held up to some windy conditions very well.

The Lone Star Mad cat just might be the best disc name and stock stamp ever.

However, they got one part of the disc stamp wrong -- the flight ratings. This disc is in no ways a 9/5/0/2, but is actually one of the most overstable discs I have ever thrown.

Thinking that it would have more of a Thudnerbird flight, but after finding that I could only get about 200 feet of distance with it on backhand throws I started throwing the Mad Cat forehand. This is a pretty domey disc, and I often accidentally release domey discs on an anhyzer angle when thrown sidearm. On one hole I had an accidental anhyzer release and was worried that the disc would turn right into the rushing spring run-off river. Well, it didn't. This thing quickly flexed right out of my terrible throw and landed safely in bounds.

If you like really cool disc names and are looking for something REALLY OVERSTABLE, pick up a Mad Cat. Just ignore the flight numbers. If you're looking for a stable fairway driver, try something else.
