The Slasher glow appears to be the flattest run of the Mad Cat to date and perfect for the forehand thrower. Released flat, it travels straight before finishing with a reliable fade toward the basket. Released on slight anhyzer, it will flip up ride straight and then finish. No significant ground play with this one. It pretty much hits and sits.

I bought this disc from my local shop looking for something more stable than my passion but less stable than a raptor, I found this disc and decided to give it a try, I don't have the best form by any means but I love to flick firebirds, raptors and have good success with them because of the torque they can handle (I have a history with baseball). In the past I have had issues with turning over disc with 0 turn and 2 fade with a flick, so I initially bought this disc for backhand. First couple throws with it I found it to be like almost throwing a caprap with my backhand, not sure why but it just felt super beefy keep in mind I have poor form and I'm MA3.... Well I got froggy one day and decided to flick this disc on a shot I have struggled with fading to far with my raptor or Firebird, and man it just felt so good, absolute park job, so I continued to throw this disc more and more with a flick and it has become an absolute work horse in my bag. You can put a little anny on this disc and it will fight out and just be laser straight. This disc can totally handle some power too. If you predominantly forehand/flick and need something to fade less or have a little bit more finesse than a felon,Firebird or Raptor look no further than this disc. Well done LSD.

    TLDR:

I recommend the Glow Mad Cat as an overstable 9-speed driver. Meow.

    About Me:

I am a longtime recreational player. I throw an even mix of righthand back/forehand and drive about 300-350'. I throw 170+ weight discs, my fastest discs are speed 9, and I don't throw discs with relative stability (the sum of turn/fade) greater than 2 for anything other than utility shots or strong headwinds.

    Why This Disc?/Comparison:

I picked up a Glow Mad Cat because I throw Pro Thunderbirds in my daytime bag, but glow Thunderbirds are basically impossible to find and Sexton Firebirds are hyper expensive. The numbers and the price point looked right so I pulled the trigger, and I'm glad I did. A fresh Mad Cat is a bit more OS than a Thundy, but it beats to match and even ends up with better glide.

The Mad Cat is my second most OS driver behind my Enemy (which I basically only use as a utility disc or in very strong headwinds) and before my Lariat (stable). I use a Votum as a backup in the same slot, but the Mad Cat is much more dependable in a headwind for a nice, crunchy, OS flight.

    Aesthetic/Feel:

Like all my other Lone Star Glow discs, the Mad Cat glows bright and long. The Mad Cat has, hands down, the best stock stamp of all Lone Stars. The rim is comparable to a Thunderbird. The plastic itself is nice and smooth.

    Performance:

The Glow Mad Cat is great for all but the fiercest of headwinds. Thrown flat with backhand into a headwind, I get the slightest turn and a long flight before a solid low-speed fade. With anhyzer, i get excellent S-curves. Of course, it practically goes without saying, but, if you want a hefty hook, a hyzer-release will turn into a nice, long fading shot with a solid skip.

The Glow Mad Cat is also a forehand beast. With a mild anhyzer, this thing can flex out for a long turn before the predictable fade kicks in. On a flat release, it gives me just enough slip to the left to get nice and lengthy before the fade kicks in and I get a beautiful skip. I've been chasing an ace on a simple sidearm hole at my home course with this thing for a little over a year now, and I've been dangerously close to it more times than I can count.

    Pros/Cons:

    + Headwind fighter

    + Great S-curve potential

    + Forehand/sidearm/flick dreamboat

    - Like most OS drivers, errant hyzer releases can hurt

    - Crazy strong headwinds may require one to reach for an even more OS alternative (may not apply depending on your local wind conditions)

    Does It Make The Bag?

Yes; until there are stocks runs of Pro Glow Thunderbirds at an affordable price (so, basically never as long as Sexton Firebirds keep printing money for Innova), I will keep the Glow Mad Cat in my glow bag.

I will mention in every Lone star review I leave how amazing their plastics are- especially the glow plastic.  It's up there with the other 2 top glow plastic manufacturers.  I don't need to name them, you already know.  For the price point, at less than 20 bucks, you have a glow disc that is top of the line and for the same amount of greenbacks as what it costs for most companies premium non glow plastics.

The Mad cat in glow is pure Texas grade A beef.  I hate comparing to other companies, but if you have ever thrown Nate Sextons signature glow fairway disc that has been well seasoned, that is the mad cat.  I have compared side by side and they hold the same lines, with the mad cat being just a cats hair more stable- out of the box, after throwing it on each hole for 3 or 4 rounds I noticed it getting more and more like the previously mentioned disc.  Comfortable forehand and backhand, if you have been gassing for the "bird of all birds" but don't want to pay the premium price for one, get the birds worst nightmare, snag up the mad cat in glow plastic.  You won't be dissatisfied.
