The Spike is an innovative disc that is excellent for both midrange and approach shots. This disc will fly flat for up to 300 feet. The Spike has a shallow grip and smooth edge. It also has “traction zones” on top that increase grip and lead to a clean accurate release.

Not enough people throw this disc. It is shallow and low profile. Don't let the grip pads spook you, they feel pretty good and they are easily avoidable if you don't like them. It is straight and it doesn't glide very much so it's wonderful for approaches that don't need to fade hard like a zone or harp.

OVERALL:  I bought a 175g Spike in Zero Medium plastic from Infinite Discs.  Overall, I really like the Spike for close range puts (inside 25ft).  I'd give it five stars for these putts.  The loss of a star is because of its performance outside 25ft.  It doesn't have enough (or any) glide for my taste.  I tend to short throw the longer puts with the Spike.  If you are new and looking for one putter for close range and approach shots, this is not the putter for you.  However, I recommend it without reservation as a 5-star close range putter.

FEEL/LOOK.  The Spike is a very flat putter; I find it similar in feel to some midrange discs, such as LAT64's Compass or Prodigy's M4 with the only difference being the top edge of the rim is slightly more rounded on the Spike.  Its comfortable in the hand.  The outside rim is beadless but has a good groove for your index finger if that's your putting grip.  The Zero Medium plastic is grippy in the hand but still firm overall, which I like.

THUMB GRIP PADS.  The Spike has two 3"x1.5" oval thumb grip pads on opposite sides of the disc.  To me, they feel a rubber version of skateboard grip tape.  I didn't think I'd like them at first but now I use them all the time.  They give me a good feel under my thumb without affecting my release.  Regardless, there is plenty of room on this disc to get a good grip without using them so I wouldn't make a decision whether to pick up this disc based on the grip pads.

PERFORMANCE.  On close range puts, the Spike really comes out of your hand fast and laser straight.  It grips the chains fairly well and I haven't had any problems with it bouncing out.  My only real comment/concern is its lack of glide.  It will lose air pretty quickly.  When I miss, its usually low.  I find it very poor on uphill puts for this same reason.  Good putter but it can't find my bag.  I carry a Judge, Swan, and Mercy (Zero Hard) for approach shots and use a Mercy (Zero medium) for putting.  The Mercy is close in shape to the Spike but has the glide needed for longer putts.

Great putter for smaller hands/short fingers. Predictable flight.
