I bag a Zero medium burst Spike and boy was this disc something I knew I needed but could never find. It is like the holy grail of my bag. First off I want to talk about the grip pads. There are two of them literally on opposite sides of the disc with more than enough room in between on either side for a smooth disc feel. I don't think those should be anything you worry about when looking into the spike. I do enjoy them at times when I feel like my hands aren't getting great grip and I don't wanna take the time to dry them right there. The feel of this disc is amazing. It is a pretty shallow disc which I really enjoy with throwing putters, the plastic in zero medium is also just amazing. It has a mixture of stiffness with still enough grip on it to feel comfortable throwing it.
The flight is where most people will find this disc to fill spots they never realized they have or a spot they have been trying to fill, but not able to. It really reminds me of a beat in straight to stable putter with a more consistent flight and not the habit of getting overly flippy like some beat in putters do. You can throw this all types of angles depending on your power. Thrown flat with good amount of power this disc will slowly glide over to the right and finish right. If you throw it with some hyzer and full power you will see a great hyzer flip and depending on how drastic the hyzer is you can get it to come back left or even finish on a soft right. I find this disc to be a great option for an out of the circle putter because it feels a little faster than some other putters and still has a ton of control. I have been looking to beat in some putters to replicate what this disc does and I have gotten discs close but I feel like this requires a lot less precision to throw it like you want. I mainly use this disc when I want something to finish straight or with some right fade and I can trust that even if I power down too much it is not going to hyzer out like many other discs will do. This disc loves to land flat or on some anhyzer. (Note: I throw right hand back hand and I do not forehand this disc.)
If you are looking for a very consistent understable approach/ throwing putter the spike is something to give a shot. This disc will make you throw lines you never knew you needed and it just feels great doing it
