probably a bit too stable for real beginners. similar to a teebird but better. workhorse stable fairway.

When I first received this disc in a mystery box I had a little trouble using it right away. Once I got better form and understood how this disc flew. After all that happened this disc is my go to fairway driver. Very similar to the Teebird but feels better in my hand.

Easily favorite disc in my bag. I've got a gold line, moonshine, and opto.

The gold line is the straightest but still trustworthy into wind. It will hold any angle for more than 90 percent of the flight then have a really small fade at the end.

The moonshine is the most true to the flight numbers of the 3 I have. Really good hyzer disc up to 350 and can put it on some slight flex lines for more distance. The moonshine plastic also feels the best out of the 3.

The opto is the most stable and finishes pretty quick left at the end of the flight. It doesn't go quite as long as the other two but I'm more comfortable with this one int he wind or I have to have a good left.

Surprisingly these do well forehand too. Thrown on a little bit of hyzer they will pop up and either fly straight or turn a little bit depending on which one I throw. They'll always finish back to the right making them good for flat thrown shots that flex back. You can't go wrong with explorers.

This was the disc I received when I joined the PDGA. I'll be honest, I haven't really used this disc a whole lot. Part of the reason is that when I got it, I was still pretty new and raw as far as my form and technique go. So, I just couldn't get this disc to do much for me in the way of distance. I also didn't love how it felt in my hands, as it has a much smaller rim which isn't as comfortable for me to throw.

However, the last time I did use the disc and got it back out again, I was surprised that it would hold whatever line I put it on. I could see this being a reliable disc for sweeping anyhyzers, slow fading hyzers, or just straight flying control shots. In fact, I might just be talking myself into putting this back in my bag for a few rounds and giving it another go. There a ton of pros that utilize this disc a ton (Emeson Keith for instance) and there must be a reason. I aim to find out why!

I have multiple of the Explorer in Gold Line and Opto plastic. I have found the Gold Line plastic, which I prefer for this disc, tends be slightly more overstable and holds that over stability of flight a bit longer than the Opto versions I have. This is a great disc and should be in everyone's bag. It is incredibly versatile for players of all skills levels. I would recommend this as a possible first driver for beginner's, all the way up to an advanced/pro level player's trusty touch fairway. It loves power and loves finesse throws. I could go on and on about this disc. GET ONE!! (or several)
