I think this is a great addition to the Innova lineup, a much needed truly overstable approach disc that can contend with the other top sellers on the market. Based on the feel I would say this is a shallower zone but with a very similar hand feel on the actual disc. If you have smaller hands I think this would be great for you. The flight of the Toro is a bit more overstable than the typical zones I have thrown but will go similar distances if given enough torque. I think the Toro is a great fit for someone looking for something more overstable than a zone like disc or if they want something on the shallower side. I enjoy the ability this disc has to give ground action, I think a great aspect of most overstable approach discs is the ability to throw it a bit short and let the ground action bring it close to the basket. You can trust this disc on all angles and make it work for really whatever approach shot you need. One of the best Innova molds in my opinion.

The toro is everything that I wanted the zone to be. I've tried many zones through the years, but found them to be much straighter than I wanted. The toro is BEEFY. It likes to fight to the ground, and holds up well in any wind. The hand feel is a little shallower than I was expecting, but it is very comfortable forehand and backhand. If you are looking for something beefier than a pig or zone for approach shots pick up a toro you will not be disappointed.

The missing link in the Innova lineup, this is a very overstable, slow approach disc. More OS than the AviarX3 and also also not as deep, this disc feels great in the hand for both forehand and backhand throws. It is very torque resistant on harder forehand throws and beefy enough to fight out of anhyzers.

The only downside I have for the disc is grip. Currently only available premium plastics, I don't feel quite as comfortable with touchy approach and finesse shots as I do with, say, my soft Harp, because of the lack of grip.

The mold is 5/5, then only thing keeping me at 4 stars is the current lack of a grippy, baseline plastic option like XT or DX, but I am hopeful Innova will remedy this (Galactic XT???). Overall, would recommend for any player wanting an OS approach disc.

Exactly the disc Innova needed in their lineup. The Champion Color Glow plastic feels so great for an overstable approach disc and I know its going to beat in to a reliable straight flyer. But for now, it's exactly the disc I need for shots that require more stability than the Aviar x3 but less speed/distance than the Gator.

I've tried most of the popular 4-speed, overstable approach discs: Zone, Harp, Pig. I like the Toro the best. Mine is very flat with a super comfortable rim. It's not as deep as the Zone or Harp and feels better to forehand for me because of that. I use this for approaches in the 50-250ft range and for tee shots up to around 300 feet. The only possible negative is that it skips a bit more than I'd like for an approach disc.

I would bump the glide up to a 3 and the fade down to a 3, so not quite as overstable as the numbers indicate but at least as stable as a Zone and more overstable than a Harp. Fantastic disc.

Toro Heimburg Great Lakes Open Edition - Champion Color Glow - 175g

Very overstable approach disc that is true to the numbers.  Because of the plus size rim I find that the Toro offers one of the cleanest releases of any disc of its kind.  While it excels at forehands, I really like to throw this thing backhand as well; always a clean release.  As much as I love my Ricky Pigs, Berg, and Zone (I happily bag both a Zone and a Toro) sometimes on more touchy forehands it can be tough to release the aforementioned discs cleanly, and firmly, with confidence.  This often invites the temptation to throw a wider line than necessary!  I don't have this problem with the Toro.  This is the disc I grab when I have a tight angle that I need to execute with finesse and firmness.  Throw it flat, and it will connect into an early and predictable fade.  Great for big flex forehand plays, and also for get out of trouble forehand rollers too.

Here's the real question: How does it compare to the Zone?  Bottom Line: The Zone is a bit more glidey than the Toro, and the release point of the Toro is a bit cleaner due to the plus size rim.  I bag a crystal z flex get freaky zone and love having both in the bag, and at this point intuitively know which one to grab in different scenarios.  I rarely have moments where I debate Zone or Toro; I grab both with confidence.  My Toro wants to get to the ground faster, so naturally, I grab my zone for uphill approaches and shots that need a touch more glide.  In the woods when I need to execute a tight but powerful forehand flex, I'm reaching for the Toro every time.  Get a Toro in your bag, it is a fantastic disc!

Disc - 175 Color Glow Toro

Feel - This disc has the exact same feel as a zone. If you are familiar with the feel of the zone it is almost identical in the hand.

Flight - The Toro is very overstable. It is more stable than any zone that I have thrown and seems to glide a bit less. I struggle to get the same distance I can get with my zone with this disc. I feel that the toro definitely has its uses for many players and will get more workable as it beats in but is already in a great spot. It kicked both the justice and zone from my bag because I felt that it was stable enough to do what I needed the justice for but workable enough for general approach shots.

Overall - Closest zone replacement I have ever felt. I still keep a harp in the bag for straighter shots but Innova has done an incredible job copying the zone with this one.

I have thrown zones for years, so naturally, that's what I compare this disc to (z and zflx zones to be specific). Overall, the flight numbers on the toro are spot on: it has less glide and more fade than the zone. When thrown forehand or backhand, I notice that it consistently ends up around 30ft shorter with the same power. It has a very reliable dump and may offer a little more reliability in the wind, but you really have to put extra power into it to get the disc to "go." It's a great addition to the Innova lineup, but I may need to put in extra time if I want to make the switch.

I bag 175G Color Glow Champion Toro and play above 5000' elevation in Wyoming.

Feel: Flat top and grippy.  The Color Glow plastic feels wonderful, and is super grippy without being to "gummy".  Feels great forehand & backhand & releases super smooth.  Has a slight outward angle to the rim (I think they call it a + mold, not sure tho).  Clean release on both backhand & forehand.  I don't know if it was intentional or not, but mine has a slight lip on the top of the flight plate, think thumb-track but on a tiny, almost unnoticeable scale.

Flight:  As overstable as it gets.  This disc will ALWAYS finish with a strong fade.  I have not thrown a zone, but I have thrown the Harp, Rat, Tactic, and hands down the Toro is the most overstable.  When thrown flat the disc wants to get right/left (depending on the throw) almost immediately without much glide.  Perfect for flex shots that you can trust to not glide long.  Reliable into headwinds.  Decent ground play.  If you don't have a good forehand, this disc will make you look like you do.

Overall great disc for an overstable approach/shorter mid range disc.  I would say beginners can use this disc but need to beware of the strong fade, which if not accounted for, can really get frustrating.  If you want any kind of distance, you have to flex it, which also can be challenging for beginners.  All in all, a solid overstable disc from Innova.

This is a great overstable approach disc from Innova. I was curios to see how closely it would relate to the Discraft Zone and Discmania Tactic. In my experience I would rank these three from least stable to most stable as Tactic, Zone, and Toro.

The Toro fits great in the hand for forehand approaches and has a heavy fade. Backhand feels great too but I tested this the most with forehands. It is definitely grippy and easy to get a clean release.

Overall I think this is a great disc. I still prefer the zone over the Toro just because the Toro does have less glide and more stability.

The Color Glow Champion Toro has quickly become a staple in my bag in the overstable approach slot.  The plastic provides great grip and the Toro feels comfortable with both backhand and forehand grips.  It has a little glide and will hold a straight line if thrown with power before the reliable fade kicks in at the end.  There is a pretty good skip at the end, so take that into account and watch as the Toro continually parks itself next to the basket!

My friend refers to the Heimburg Toro as a baby Sexton Firebird and I tend to agree.  It provides similar flight and usability, just in a lower speed.

Innova has finally perfected a zone clone and I think the Color Glow Champion plastic provides an upgrade over any plastic offered by Discraft.  Well done Innova!!!

Loving my glow champ Toro so far. Flies just like a zone but with less glide and much better grip than what you'll get out of any discraft plastic, i can't compliment glow champion enough.

Don't let the out-the-box insane overstability fool you, the disc breaks in really nicely to a good, workable overstability after a dozen rounds or so.

This disc is also very skippy on the ground when you land it on the inside edge, which is great when you want that but you have to watch out for it. It ends up pairing really nicely with my berg as an approach disc duo.

    4 2 0 4 is a very accurate flight rating.
