The Kite is a midrange disc that every beginner will want in their bag. For beginners, this disc flies like a driver with the grip of a putter. New players who don’t have the strength or experience of seasoned players can still get really good distance from the Kite. This disc flies incredibly straight on low speed approach shots, and has minimal fade. For intermediate players the Kite is great for turnover shots and controlled approaches.

I am reviewing the 175g DX Kite. This was my favorite disc just starting out. With a smooth and easy, level forehand throw, it flies like a laser to it's target. It flies consistent distance-wise. It does not tend to drop out of the sky with a strong fade or catch extra glide and travel way further than expected.

The shape is domey with a pointed, concave underside to the rim. The rim is much more pointed than other discs rated speed five. It is beadless. To me, it is comfortable to grip both forehand and backhand. The rim-depth is sufficient to be comfortable backhand. It can be thrown very effectively backhand, however that is not my expertise.

For beginners, this disc is good for straight distance. For more experienced or skillful disc golfers, the Kite is a good choice for a straight flying somewhat short approach on calm days (with a typically powered throw, the disc will flip in wind). Also, the disc works well for timid throws or nerve-wracking shots through hazards. Overall, I think this disc is top-notch.

I have had the DX Kite (168 Grams) for about 6 Months & and use it for short drives / 200ft - 150ft Mid Shots. I would recommend this disc for players who need a disc to go from point A to B.

PROS: Stable, Works Well With Annhyzers / Hyzers, Great for rollers

CONS: Slightly Domed, If thrown wrong not very forgiving.

I had a max weight dx kite that I bought mainly to use as a loaner disc for beginners I play with.  None of the beginners who used it really took a liking to it, possibly because it was on the heavy side.  I used it for a while in my understable mid range slot and it seemed to be fine in this role, though I was never overly fond of it.  I eventually lost it in a pond and didn't replace it.  I'm sure it might work well as a beginner disc in a lighter weight, though I cannot confirm this.

I like my kite for 175' or so drives. Use some control and a lil hyzer and ull be rt in front of the pad. Throw itt flat, anny or overpower it and u may not like ur walk to the rt. Def takes a bit of getting used to but i like the mid w a lip sk this works well off the pad. I dont find myself approaching w this disc ever. Just a nice one tk have on the pad once u know how tl control it

The Kite is my go to midrange for shots where I need to go to the right with backhand throws (I'm right handed). This thing will slice and turnover on me when thrown with moderate power. I also use it for very short drives and slow flying approach shots where I can't have a big fade.
