Metal flake champion, this is a great forehand approach disc. I hate the bread on the other plastics. On the MF one I barely even notice the bead. Reliable fade a at the end of the flight.

This disc is a must when playing in a windy area like I do. This disc will make you think that headwinds don't exist and I love that for it. I would not say that I throw it in every round of disc golf that I play, but when I have an approach or shorter drive that it into a headwind, or need a hyzer this disc is one of my go to's. I would not really say that beginners will have too much fun with this disc due to how over stable it is, but for more experienced players this disc is going to be great for shots that require a hyzer or if you just need a disc that you can trust into a headwind. It can be uncomfortable in the hand if you don't like beads, but I have never really had a problem with beads in my time playing so it isn't too much of a problem for me.

    180g MF Gator

Honestly, when I first started, I didn't care for this one much. I just would call it a windproof Roc (because my arm wasn't there and these two used to fly the same) Now that I can get my rocs to flip to flat and laser straight, I pulled out this guy again.

Before I was using a Harp as my approach, but it was deep and I didn't like the feel of a Pig, or the flight/skip of a Zone/A2. So I pulled out the Gator on a whim. It conquered all. Forehand, backhand, because it ignores air resistance like a physics classroom, AND it has a dependable flight, this disc became my only approach disc. It has a tendency to dive to the ground and sit. Slight downside: If you rip it real hard it will get some turn to the flight, especially on forehand. So not super torque resistant.

Side note: will fly exactly the same in a roaring storm as on a clear windless day. (Good clutch headwind putter)

Quickly became one of my favorite discs, especially on forehand. They are just tough to find right now. Recommended to have in the bag, and pull out again and again as your form improves.

Beef. The only word I could ever use to describe this disc. Wind? It's never heard of it. Spike hyzer? It's favorite thing. This is the most consistent midrange that isn't a Roc. New players may get annoyed with how much it fades left. It should solely be used as a utility and nothing else.

Starting off with the feel, this disc feels great in the hand, and is super easy to get a nice power grip on it. This disc flies with almost no glide at all, and wants to get left fast when thrown backhand. This disc does what it is advertised to do, however it is a lot more finicky than you would thing an overstable utility disc would be. This disc is not great for sidearms, whereas other overstable mids like the justice and the deflector from mvp are. Also if you throw with off axis torque it will turn over on you in a headwind if youre trying to rip it. I noticed as my form got a lot better I was able to throw this disc well sidearm and into the wind, however it was harder than I would have hoped to be to figure it out. If you are an Innova fan and want some overstable mid, I would recommend the new Caiman release as it is much more toque resistant and has a similar flight path to the gator.

A Disc For Your Bag Gator By Oscar Ball

The Innova Gator is the best forehand approach disc on the market. Plainly stated it will chomp off shots while throwing from inside 100 feet. With remarkable consistency and incomparable reliability the low skip Gator easily parks itself under the basket. The 5 speed 3 glide o turn 4 fade gives it the low speed features needed to have a amazing forehand flick. It is used and approved by several pros and even loved and used by Paul Mcbeth he says “The Gator is a staple in my bag and in the bags of many pros. It is an overstable midrange disc with a predictable flight. The Gator is easy to control and suitable for all weather.” Last time I checked Paul Mcbeth had 4 world championships.  Personally that swung me towards buying this disc because obviously he's doing something right. Just saying. I spent a lot of time researching this disc because quite frankly I was desperately in need of a wrist flick midrange, while looking at reviews I noticed that the best buy is the champion plastic. This is because the mold has a flatter top. Based on the majority's preference they thought it flew the best as well as followed its flight numbers. Any of the Champion plastics work including metal flake, blizzard, and glow. Take my word you’ll be wondering why you haven't bought it sooner.

175 G Metal Flake Champion Gator

The Gator is just a classic OS utility mid. Big fade, minimal glide, and just a nice predictable flight means that in all conditions you can count on the flight of the Innova Gator. Windy, calm, or anything in between, the Gator will always have a place in my bag.

Consistent hyzer flight! If you need something that will never flip in a head wind but still flies pretty far without wind, this is a fantastic disc for both! I will throw this guy on anything ranging from 100-315 forehand or backhand. There is a domey run and a flatter run. I like the flatter run but It is personal preference based on which feels comfortable. All in all, on of my favorite discs.

MF Champ Gator is one of the most consistent discs I have ever thrown. It cuts out all the variables and what you are left with is a disc that will go travel "x" distance with "x" power every single time. You want more fade? Throw higher. Less fade? Throw lower. This disc is not a disc that will land and skip onto the next fairway. Its a bag of rocks that goes where you throw it and fades. As a FH dominant player, I can power it up and it shows very little, if any, turn with a nice fade every single time. This and the Trident are the most predictable discs in my bag and great compliments. I see the Trident as a longer Gator.

The gator is my go to midrange for a headwind upshot. If I don't want to use a putter or have any hesitation on an upshot, the gator is what I reach for every time. If the grass is low or mowed it has a good chance to skip a bit. It's overstable, but not quite as much as a justice is if you're familiar with that disc. This requires some gusto when you throw it, so don't expect to throw it over 300ft for the average player. This disc flies straight for a while, then has a late, strong fade.

I use a flat top champion gator or metal flake gator (also flat top). This disc is the ultimate meat hook mid range. it has almost no glide and nothing but fade. I sometime use it for putting into a stiff head wind. I can forehand or backhand this disc and it is one of my most consistent discs in my bag. I really like using it for hyzer bombs and shorter dog leg drives (left or right). This disc takes a lot of arm to get beyond 300 feet so beginners beware. The best thing about it is that I know exactly what it will do every time that I throw it.

The gator is the best overstable mid range ever.  I use it for Fhs but I wish it didn't have so much dome.  It also works well for spike hyzers and long putts on windy days.  I just wish that there we're beadless ones as they are easier to Fh.

The Gator is a very over stable mid range disc and has a lot of fade.  You are not going to get a lot of distance out of this disc, which makes it great for placement and distance control.  I use it for any approach 250 or less where I have room for it to fade into the basket.  Extremely predictable and easy to control and it does great in a head wind.  Very easy to sidearm or flick as well.

I love my Gator.  I use this disc for glidey OS shot and back hand shot shaping.  Enough glide and over stability to trust, but not so much as to be relegated to a utility slot.  This disc also likes to sit where is lands with very little skip.  Great disc for any skill level to help learn the short OS game and trust into headwinds.
