Don't let the speed scare you; this disc is easier to throw than a boss or destroyer.  It might even be more flippy than a wraith or at least fairly similar.  I have tried Star and Champ Luster.  The champ is closer to what the flight numbers say, with maybe a tad less turn.  The nice thing about this disc is the ability to throw at lesser speeds and still get a little bend or flip up, and then it just carries so far before hitting the ground.  The distance will surprise you as the flight stays in the air for almost the same amount of time, but the distance traveled is much longer.  If you are newer, try under 160g and work your way up in weight as you go.  Not a headwind fighter, and advanced arms will flip this disc too much for a flat release.

I am setting new personal distance records this year. It took until I got my arm "in shape" late season, but it has consistently been getting me out there 350 ft on a smooth S curve. Big throws mean big mistakes, so be careful out there!

If you have the arm speed this thing GOES! But it can be very touchy. Because of the width of the rim, grip can be an issue which can lead to some bad throws, but when you throw it right, it is fantastic. I have put this thing out past 550 ft.

I decided I wanted to try a high speed driver so I bought the star colossus and at first it was hard to get it to go flat and far but if you have the arm or develop the arm to throw it you can reap some big rewards. This disc will flip up and ride flat a long way with a very consistent fade at the end which is great for long open fairways. I would recommend a heavy weight so that you can control this disc a little more in some wind. However if you don't have the arm to throw a 14 speed don't expect anymore distance from this disc but if you enjoy the wide rim and can handle this disc with good form you can rip some really long drives.

I have one of the early runs of the star Colossus. It has a really thick rim, It also has a decently flat top and low profile. I use this disc almost exclusively for forehand max distance drives. I'm left-handed so I get to use this disc a lot off the tee. My Colossus is pretty beat in so it flies like 14 5 -2 3.

In a tailwind, I throw it flat and it has some high speed turn before fading back. In a headwind, I add a slight hyzer to the throw and try to flip it up and ride. It's a true speed 14 so it's not the most controllable consistent driver. Slight anhyzer on a forehand blast can make it turn and smash into the ground. When it was new it would flex a little. Nose angle is touchy.

I like this disc because it seems to work for crazy forehand rips better than my destroyers (I think bc of the flat top). This thing goes far so get a super bright color. Mines bright orange.

I thought the Colossus would be a good disc to add some distance for being that the flight numbers make it seem like a pretty easy to throw distance driver. It is quite the bomber, but not a disc I found easy to control. After some work with this disc, I decided that my Crank gets plenty of distance and is easier to control. Although the Colossus does bomb, I would much rather have a consistent disc.

My first colossus was a monster bomber. Unfortunately after loosing it I have found this mold to be inconstant. Ranging from over stable to under stable. There is a chance you can end up with a great disc or a piece of plastic on the shelf.

This is a great disc when you have a Long t-shot!  Flies really far and turns over nicely. Would not recommend this speed disc for a beginner.

This disc feels fantastic out of the hand on release.  I have thrown lazers 400ft that were never more than about 10ft off of the ground.  This is also a great disc for high S shaped bombs.  When released with a flat to slight hyzer release, it starts turning slightly until about a quarter of the way, and then just powers on that line until it fades gradually but reliably at the very end. Because of its understability, a beginner with enough power to throw 350 should get a straight flight with a reliable fade at the end, kind of like the Destroyer is for more powerful players.  More advanced and powerful players will like this discs reliable max distance S shaped flight. However, this disc turns much more than a Destroyer and has a much smaller more gradual fade.  I would say that the path of the flight chart is accurate when thrown with a slight hyzer at max power and peak height of 20 ft.

For me, the Star Colossus is more understable than advertised. It does have pretty good glide, but also flips over quickly in even a light wind. Not much fade, either.

I much prefer a Champion in this particular disc.

This is essentially a faster wraith.   I use this for long forehand drives and gained an extra 30 feet from what my wraith would give me.

The star plastic is my favorite for the Colossus. I have it in a light weight and a max weight. While I find it to be a little bit unpredictable, I find that it gets insane distance with relatively little effort. I bag them for wide open long shots, because they're definitely the farthest flying discs I've thrown. I heard all of the hype when it came out, and I thought to myself "Just another high speed driver that I won't have the arm speed for." Well, this disc has been made with slower arms in mind. The understability allows for even noodle arms to gets some pretty good distance out of it. Definitely worth checking out.

This disc is my bread and butter.  If you got the power to get this thing flying it is great for forehand and backhand players.  I easily flick it out 400+ feet on drives and back hand it even further.  I started out on champion and once it gets beat in it is a very understable driver but always ends left no matter how late it is.  I have been recommending it to all of my friends with strong arms.  It is starting to replace my destroyers in my bag.
