I bag 172g Champion Colossus and live above 5000' elevation in Wyoming

Feel:  Champion plastic that feels slick in the hand and comes with some flashing that can be sharp.  Mine felt good to throw from the day of purchase with moderate flashing issue.  It is a wide rim so not the friendliest disc for smaller hands and has a decent dome so not the most ideal for FH grip (however this is how I throw this disc)

Flight: As stated earlier I throw most of my power shots FH (I'm still fairly new and lack the arm speed for faster distance drivers throw BH.  As most distance drivers, this disc is going to need some room to work.  It has great glide and will drift for 3/4 of the flight before finishing back to the original line, maybe slightly passed.  I do not posses the power to turn this disc over unless thrown into a wonderful Wyoming headwind (which easily and regularly exceed 50-60mph). But, even when rolling the wrist, or throwing into those gnarly headwinds it will always try to fight back towards the end of the flight.  I use this disc for 2 reasons, first is having fun and throwing for max distance in fields and the second being I need a max distance shot on an open fairway.

Conclusion: Beginners stay away, don't be like me and think you are stronger than you are.   Accept the fact that a 14 speed disc is something you have to "grow into."  Intermediate players will be able to use this for max power distance throws, will probably have a moderate to overstable finish. Advanced and above can probably bomb this disc on huge turn over lines for max distance.  I like the disc for what it is and use it for very select situations, but it is fun to throw and even more fun to watch when you get into one.

    Disc: Innova Champion Colossus, 170g

Feel: I don’t love the feel of this disc. The rim is a bit wide and sharp, which I expect in a 14-speed driver. But it just never felt right. I’m not the biggest fan of Champion plastic, but a good number of discs in my bag are Champion. If a disc is in Champion plastic, it had better feel good in my hand to go in my bag. This disc didn’t quite make the feel cut for me. I also notice that when I really rip into this disc, it kinda hurts my hand on the release (I throw RHBH primarily). As for forehand, I wouldn’t even think of throwing it forehand, it feels terrible.

Flight: For all my complaints about the feel of the disc, I can’t say I was disappointed by the flight. You need a lot of space to throw this disc, but when I have it, I like to throw it with a touch of anhyzer and watch as it slowly goes straight and then finishes with a moderate fade. One thing that I both liked and disliked about this disc is the fact that it isn’t very skippy. Sure, it’ll skip a bit when it’s thrown well and has typical landing conditions, but it doesn’t want to go far. This can be good in some situations, when you don’t want a big skip, but when I reach for this driver, it’s a very long, very open tee shot where overshooting is impossible, and there’s plenty of space to allow for a skip. So, I wish it was just a bit more skippy, to get that extra bit of distance.

Overall: I’ve noticed a lot of reviews about this disc are quite inaccurate. If you can’t power up and really launch this disc, it won’t fly properly for you. After all, it is a 14-speed distance driver. This disc is absolutely horrendous for beginners, even worse than most distance drivers, but once you have the power and technique to smash a drive, you might want to check the Colossus out. I would have rated this disc just a bit higher, but as I don't love the feel, and don't find the flight to be anything special, I'm giving it 3 stars. But that doesn't mean I hate this disc, it's certainly not for everyone. I can't say I'd recommend this disc to my friends, but my friends don't quite have the power I do.

I throw this forehand and backhand. I think it flies similar to corvette which i also enjoy.

I think people who are wanting to try a faster Destroyer or Boss will not be disappointed. I've got a GStar 172g one. I'd say it flies like an overstable Destroyer right now. I could get it to pop up when released on a slight hyzer, but it never turned over, and then it would finish back with a pretty strong fade. It reminds me quite a bit of the new Latitude 64 Ballista that I already have in my back. It will be interesting to throw these together and see how they differ from each other.

Some people have negative feelings about GStar plastic, but I think this one flew great, and my recommendation would be if you know you want to try one but are hesitant about the plastic, don't wait. It is true, the Champion and regular Star may fly differently, but maybe this run is exactly what you are looking for? Anyway, That is just my opinion. I think this disc is a great addition to the Innova lineup. Enjoy it!

Not at all a good disc for beginners. It is very overstable to start off with. I never use it unless I need to rip it in a strong headwind. It is a disc that is good for my forehands. I like the feel of this disc, though I think that it is too overstable for me. It should be used for players with higher skill level

I bag two of these.  One is a 155g X-out in star plastic.  I mainly use it for forehands in calm conditions.  I have long, thin fingers and good grip strength, so the massive rim feels very nice for me.  Because of the lighter weight and possibly the star plastic, this disc is less stable--I would rate it at -2 turn and 2 fade.

I also bag a max weight champion colossus.  This disc is very stable--for the first year it was in my bag I could only throw it in the heaviest headwinds.  As I have improved this disc has become my go to disc any time I want to throw a backhand as hard as I can, but don't have room for the disc to turn significantly to the right.  Thrown on slight hyzer, this disc will flip to flat, go about 300 feet straight then reliably fade left while still pushing forward. There is no other disc that I can throw 350+ while keeping it <15 feet off the ground.  (For reference my max distance in calm conditions is 390 with Tern/Shryke, but that is a high hyzer flip--not a usable golf shot except in the most wide open of holes).  I'm only just on the cusp of having the power to throw this disc reliably.  If you can't throw a driver 300+, this will just dump left on you.

Love this beefy disc! Thrown with some anyhyzer you can get a lot of distance on a flex shot in open fields or when needing a straight line are hard fade at the end of a throw.

Consistently a far flying disc because it can handle maximum torque with a very reliable fade.

The Colossus is the fastest disc I have thrown. I probably don’t have the arm for a 14 speed driver, but with the decent turn I was able to get a good flight out of it. I think that the rim is noticeably wider than 13 speeds I have tried, so I think the 14 speed is justified. For forehands, it’s just too wide for me to really get a good handle on, so I don’t really use it that much. It’s overall a fine disc, but I think that other 13 and 12 speeds are better if you’re looking for a consistent distance driver.

I picked up a 175g Colossus in Luster Champion plastic at a local tournament.  I wasn't sure what to expect because I didn't really have any information about it.  After throwing it a handful of times, I immediately decided it would be my new max distance driver (taking over the slot from my Star Destroyer).  This disc is fast, and has a very graceful flex.  You can throw this disc flat and very hard and it will go straight before turning and finally fading back at the end.  Or if you have a bit more arm speed or anny the disc it will hold the turnover until landing.  When I get a solid rip on this disc, it adds at least another 30-50 feet to what my previous drives were.  I had never thrown Luster Champion plastic before, and I was surprised that it doesn't really even feel like Champion plastic to me.  It feels like a hybrid between Champion and G Star plastic.  I love it.  Pick up a Colossus!

I bought this disc before I really understood the flight numbers. I knew that the first number was speed and that was about it. I was very new to the sport, only threw forehands, and was looking for a disc with the highest speed possible, because I knew that the leopard I got with my starter pack was relatively slow and did not work for my forehand. The Colossus instantly became one of my favorite discs, because I could throw as hard as I could forehand, and it would turn slightly and fade back reliably. As I played more and more, I found that I could throw it flat if I wanted it to turn more, and throw it on somewhat of an anhyzer angle and get it to stand up and roll. It is a fairly versatile disc for a forehand dominant player, and was my go-to driver for a couple years.

The Colossus in champion plastic is a stable high speed driver. Thrown flat you will get a small degree of high speed turn before leveling off with a gentle fade. thrown on hyzer, it will flip up to flat and fly dead straight before a gentle fade. This disc has a lot of glide and and not a lot of fade. It's great for beginners trying to get maximum distance out of their drives.

Like everyone else when you hear the news of the newest fastest driver I wanted to try one out. I bought 4 of them to work into my driver rotation for field work. After a few sesions of field work and some rounds I came to the conclusion that my wraiths and destroyers were just better for my drivers. Wraiths for straight and stable shots and 2 vastly different destroyers, one super beefy and one super flippy. The rim on the colossus was just that, colossus. It wasn't very comfortable. The wing shape was similar to a destroyer but every one that I tried was super flat. All of the ones that I recieved were pretty flippy. They were all between 170-175G. They were all flat. I had 1 star, 1 G star and 2 champion. The champion performed the best in my opinion. They were nice and stable. They wouldn't hyzerflip much at all out of the box where as the star and G star were really flippy. The champion ones when thrown flat would hold nice and straight, then they would drift to the right and have a moderate finish to the left. In a headwind the champion ones would flip and never truly come back. In my opinion there are better options from Innova and for the reasons listed above I will continue to throw wraiths and destroyers.

As a beginner, I would only use this disc forehand. Yeah its definitely a high speed disc, but it doesnt have a whole lot of glide. It cuts through the air as expected which is cool. If you really want distance I probably would not turn to this disc, find something that glides better!

The colossus is a wonderful disc for maximum distance. It's overstable enough that it'll always come back, yet understable enough to take a while to do so. This allows for some really far s-shots and a feeling of consistency in how the shot will fly.

I really like the colossus.  It's super fast, and when I get ahold of it, I can really crush it.  It's not as predictable as my Tern, which causes it to be the second most used long-distance driver in my bag.  I can squeeze more distance out of the colossus than any other disc, but I have to get it just right.  It's slightly finicky nature has made it something I only pull out of my bag when I'm feeling confident and need a bomb.

This disc.. is deceptive. At a 14 speed I was worried that me and my roommates wouldn't be able to get decent flights from this disc. However after throwing it a few dozen times.. this is maybe the only high speed driver I might recommend to someone newer to the sport. The disc comes out of the hand fast and it turns and fades more like a -3/3. I was throwing this with ease and consistent travel at 168g. Personally I would love to get another around 160g. Also this disc resists drop rather well, I'd go so far to say that it's glide should be 6. That doesn't mean it wants to climb in altitude, it just holds altitude until fade kicks in which is when it sets itself down gently. I will add, if you release this disc a little too nose-up you'll force a hard stall into a harsh fade. It's maybe the most unforgiving about high-nose throws but lovely in all other regards.

This disc is, in my opinion, very under rated. It is good for long bombs, while having a semi-reliable fade. It is amazing for anhyzer forehands, or maximum distance forehands. This disc is very flat and a very wide rim.

I found one of these in Champion plastic in the high grass the other day and tentatively like it.  I throw RHFH with a big arm and not much finesse, with the predictable result that anything understable enough to have any glide usually just flips into the dirt and rolls.  I've been playing the 13/5/0/4 range drivers (Ape, Defender, etc) and using hyzer to straighten my drives out.

This is the first disc I've used that I can really whale on and get an S with some glide on a flat release.

First off, this thing has a beefy rim, which im not opposed to, some people just have a hard time gripping them. To get a full flight out iof this thing you need some power, and I dont mean being able to hit 300 feet with your boss. I mean like getting 400 feet regularly. I can only get a good flight out of this thing if I have a crazy good release with a ton of snap. The glide on mine is somewhat poor and they tend to just fall out of the sky. It truly is a speed 14 and it is quite hard to handle. If you've got aloft of power then you will get some crazy distance with the colossus.

Champion plastic (as in most cases) makes the Colossus a bit more stable than the star or g-star versions. It's still a wider rim than what I would feel most comfortable with, but it can get some crazy distance! If you like wide-rimmed discs, check this out for sure!

This disc will take off, but you MUST have some arm strength behind it.  I'm not quite strong enough to get it to go as far as my 138g Boss, but my buddy overthrew a 300' tee with it, so I know that I'm the problem.  Mine is 172g, so it might have done well to be lighter.  It will hold up in the wind, though.  I can't wait to see this thing released in Blizzard.

First off, the speed rating for this disc is 14, which is the highest rated speed that Innova offers. It is not beginner friendly because unless you can throw as hard as it it meant to be thrown, the flight pattern wont work for you.

I happen to enjoy this disc quite a bit. I have the Champion Colossus at 175 grams. This is the disc I like to throw in windy conditions. I love the flight patter and feel that it sticks true. I don't end up throwing it very often because the courses that I go to close to home don't have long enough holes, but when there is a long drive, I pull it out.

Great disc and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that has good driving distance.

    Meh

I don't get the Speed 14 label on the Colossus. Yeah, the rim is pretty big, but I found the Colossus to lack the "zip" that Speed 13 discs like the Boss has. It just doesn't rocket out of your hand like you would expect a "real" speed 14 disc to do. I'm no cannon arm but I was getting the advertised flight out of it, which really means it is not nearly as fast as they claim.

Ever wonder why you don't see more pros throwing the warp speed drivers? It's because you reach diminishing returns...you have to throw discs like this so hard that it takes all the finesse out of your throw. The Colossus does what it says it will, but I just can't reccomend it to anyone of any skill level.

Since than I put it back in the bag the o-lace and bosses are still my goto drivers. The only problem with it is it has become to understable for me with wear. I have both platiscs champions is the better one btw.

I bought the champion colossus a few days. Got to play a round with it. This disc added instant distant to my full power drives. This disc really flies and it gets to its destination in a hurry. As long as you have a decent arm speed and snap, this disc will fly farther than anything in your bag. I've tried the katana, rampage, world, Cannon, and this disc out performs them all. As long as you keep your shot from skying out, anyone above average skill should put this disc in there bag.

The Champion Colossus is a very interesting disc. I definitely like this disc more than the G-Star Colossus, but in the end I don't find myself giving either a great review. Before you dismiss this disc, I must explain! My hands are much too small for 13 speed drivers, so I stick to Destroyers. The Colossus just isn't for me for grip reasons. If High-speed drivers like the Nuke, Rampage, Katana, Misselin, or any other wide-rimmed disc is your thing, then I would definitely say that you should try the colossus!

When I lined up a 350 ft. uphill shot, I threw the colossus 35 feet past the basket. When thrown right, this disc will get a lot of distance with a moderate amount of power. When I tried to throw this disc as hard as I could, it turned over and turned into a cut-roller. I will try this disc out more for distance just in case that was just me putting too much anhyzer or something.

Despite having a good amount of turn, this disc will come back very hard at the end of the flight. It is dependable, but may result in some skips because they are just so fast.
