First disc I ever owned. Disc does exactly as advertised; an easy s-turn even for beginner's arms. The Arch-Angel would still be in my bag if more durable, more stable plastic options were available. Perhaps Infinite could answer the call and do a limited run in Champion plastic, as they recently did with the Innova Pig?

I finally got a chance to use the archangel and right out of the box it has a lovely s line flight. It can be a beginners max distance disc because it doesn't take much power to get a full flight out of it. Comparing it to my latitude 64 diamond, I'd say the archangel can handle more power without turning over. Also I'd recommend this disc over a sidewinder if you are an innova fan. I just wish it came in champion or star plastic.

This was my 1st max distance disc when starting my disc golf journey. I went out discing with buddies thinking how dumb it's going to be to throw a "frisbee" at some chains.... Learned real quick the importance of different discs. Then after gripping and ripping some overstable discs, I threw this S line thing of beauty. I'll never forget The ArchAngel logo on this disc because I remember running out to Wally World immediately afterwards making it my 1st disc purchase. In time I outgrew the disc, mainly because it comes in DX plastic and beats up quickly. That being said later on in my journey I needed a long turnover fairway driver, the archangel in DX plastic makes that shot very achievable with practice on how to throw a BH turnover fresh out the box with above rec amateur skills. I keep spare DX discs in the trunk so if I ding a tree I can swap it or if I have a newbie coming along, they can fall in love with this easy distance driver.

This is my go-to backhand driver, throws easy. I don't have the power I need to really push this disc out there yet but it is a good reliable choice for me. In the DX plastic it gives me a nice solid grip too.

I have one in dx, it is a flatter topped one. It's nowhere near as understable as the numbers suggest, mine is similar in flight to a Valkyrie. I also have one in champion plastic which is pretty overstable maybe like a thunderbird bird but I feel I get more distance from the archangel. Good disc in my opinion, Innova please run this in other plastics again, who cares if it is inconsistent from plastic to plastic it's still a great disc.

If you find a beat in one its a great flippy disc. if you use a brand new one it isnt too understable.

I found a relatively beat in (and beat up) Archangel in DX plastic and began throwing it.  I liked it but I'm a Star plastic fan so I contacted Innova about that.  According to them, they are unable to make an Archangel in Star plastic that flies "like an Archangel" so I got a limited run XT that is supposed to keep the Archangel pattern longer than DX plastic.

The DX plastic feels like, well, DX plastic.  The XT plastic feels grippy, the word coming to my mind being "rubbery", and I like it (I also like Nova putters, which have XT plastic on the rim).  Both my Archangel discs are 167g.

The Archangel is indeed a good disc for beginners to learn with.  I have long, noodle arms and not a lot of power, and it flies for a good distance relative to some of the other discs in the same speed range (7-9) that I've been able to try.  The beat in DX does well for me on hyzer and anhyzer shots in the woods to get around trees, which of course beats up the disc even more.  I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out and what the flight patterns will become.  The newer XT gives me a good S-curve if I throw it properly, and I'm working on becoming more accurate with it so that it can become a good control/approach disc when the distance is too much for a putter or my Foxbat.

All in all, I like the Archangel, I recommend it for newer players and those that don't throw with power, and if you like grippy plastic, I'd suggest giving the XT plastic a shot.

This is a decent disc for beginners looking to get distance with slower arm speeds.  It has a large dome and is very flippy.  In fact it is hard not to turn this over when trying to give it a good rip.  I tried it for a roller disc, but I found better results from a Sidewinder or Roadrunner.  My son keeps one in his bag as a downwind driver, but doesn't even touch it if throwing into the wind (this thing absolutely floats with the wind).  This is a decent beginner disc, but Innova offers better options.

This is one of the flippiest discs I've ever thrown, especially in this Dx plastic. I have it in dx plastic at a low weight that I can't remember because it's no longer penned on there, and it truly sticks to the flight ratings. Being a fairway driver, beginners can get some sneaky distance with this disc because it may turn a little and pan out before fading. For more advanced arms (literally any step above beginner), it is hard not to turn this thing into a roller. The disc must be thrown with extreme hyzer to avoid it turning quickly and rolling. With that in mind, it may require a technical shot that can provide itself as a useful tool. When thrown with anhyzer or flat, do not even bother trying to do anything but throw a roller. When this is thrown on hyzer or soft and flat, it provides its use. I don't see myself throwing this anymore since I am not a beginner, but I will not hesitate to give this to someone starting out for them to see the lines that disc golfers fall in love with every single day.

I really do like this disc. I would also describe this as the perfect step up from the Leopard along with the Roadrunner. I would still pick this one, though, because the glide rating on this really is no joke. The turn for new arms will keep this thing straight more than actually shape a flight, but that's alright. I feel like I've grown apart from this disc. My understable fairway driver is a Prodigy F7 now, but I appreciate the Archangel for what it did for me when I was relatively new. My eyes just happened to be larger then my stomach when I tried to get this across a river. If you want a roller though, get something faster.

PROS: Will actually teach relatively new players what a good driver will do for you.

The archangel is a wonderful disc for people that aren't 'strong armed.' With a bit more snap, it will turn right and glide wonderfully and will fade at the end nicely. As it's available through retail in DX only, I find the discs get too beat up too quickly (the majority of the courses nearby are very heavily wooded) for my liking. I'd love to see it in star or champion plastic. If you are just starting out or have a 'smaller' arm, try this disc, it could possibly change your game.

One of the first discs I picked up, and one that allowed me to throw pretty far early on, though something that was an anomaly caused by bad form as later on after correcting said bad form, I can no longer throw this disc as far, but can absolutely out-distance it with others. Honestly, when I try to throw this now, it just turns and burns. I have no idea how I use to get so much distance out of it. I am seriously baffled.

While I have an odd fondness for the Archangel, and feel that it certainly has a place in any new player's bag, I no longer throw it and have since replaced it with my Roadrunner which is a much more accurate and durable version. But for new players, this disc is almost a requirement in their bag.

For new players, the Archangel is indispensable. I have it in my loaner bag now, and many of the people I have taught to play, also fall in love with the disc as it is easy for them to throw moderately straight either forehand or backhand, and actually allows them to get some good distance. The extreme understability and good glide keeps the disc in the air much longer than many other discs and allows them to feel like they are doing well, not just being drug along.

I would suggest finding one in the 140-150 class, and another in the 170 class to offer a set of options to new players as the two weights do throw completely different with this disc. And as it beats in, it just helps those new players even more.

This is not a bad disc at all, however I didn't like the feel overall, too deep. It's touchier and more understable then a Roadrunner. I would recommend a RR over this or a DX sidewinder if you want base plastic. I like both better.

This disc is great for learning rollers and for throwing low ceiling, "get it down quick" rollers.  For perspective, I play intermediate and throw 380-420 on distance shots.  Just about anyone can throw a roller disc, even the most beginner players that lack power.  I can throw this disc flat or with just a bit of an-hyzer and it will turn into a good roller that will go almost 400.  It flips fast but allows players with more power to get rollers down in small gaps and with low ceilings and allows more powerful players to back off with their power and still throw rollers.

Although this disc is beginner friendly I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants to become a better player, as this disc will quickly become useless once a player develops any arm speed. I started with a Leopard, and I still use it on a regular basis. I putt with more arm speed than this disc can handle.

Unfortunately this disc has one of the coolest names out there, but does not deliver on usefulness.  Here are my thoughts:

    1) This disc is praised as a great beginner disc, but honestly you could get a more predictable flight out of a straight midrange and work on your form in the process.  If you have trouble throwing straight, just disc down to a straight midrange or putter and throw a lighter weight if you need to.

    2)  Even as a roller, this disc doesn't work for me.  On FH roller it's a bit too domey to get a tight grip, and on both BH and FH roller it gets over too quick to ride, due to being so understable.  If you throw a super precise roller low to the ground then you could smash with this disc, but it has to be released perfectly or it will cut or get over too fast.

    3)  Biggest reason for my review of 2 stars - You can only get this in DX plastic, which means it is going to become unusable after a few rounds.  DX breaks in really fast, and even brand new this thing is on the threshold of being too understable to use.  After 10 rounds it will be so understable you'll only be able to throw a thumber with it.

If you are brand new to the sport, snag one of these discs. It will, without much exception, be the first disc you will be able to flip to flat if thrown on a hyzer angle. That translates to effortless extra distance even if your form isn't perfect. For high-power throwers, this disc unfortunately doesn't fill much of a role because even as a roller disc, there are better, more durable options out there.

The Archangel is a flippy disc. If you have any sort of power, then you want to avoid this disc. It is going to do absolutely nothing for your game. I can see this being a great driver for a beginner, but for anyone that has some skill, there are much better options out there for you.

Ok so here is this disc's deal for me, it is a beginner driver and a halfway decent roller for intermediates actually. For a beginner, this thing was very easy to flip up and get some ride out of, giving easy distance. This has possibly the best glide among all of innova's line-up, which to be honest doesn't have a great history of amazing glide among it's discs. This disc is very similar to me in flight to the L64 Diamond, which in my humble opinion is one of the best discs on the market for beginners. This disc is certainly in that conversation for best beginner drivers. What sets this disc apart is the fact that it does have some stable fade to get a strong S-curve out of a moderately well thrown disc. This disc is insanely forgivable to throwers learning form.

The main point that I feel like I need to get across here is, this is more beginner friendly to a Valkyrie, but you will grow out of it faster. True beginners will get more use out of this disc, but once they are able to throw a disc 225+ consistently, they will wish that they had a Valkyrie, or in my opinion, a L64 River. But for true beginners who need to learn the form of the game, this disc is among the most forgivable and easiest throwing discs on the market.

IF you keep your Archangel in your bag after you've outgrown it, it may collect dust for a few months as you progress. But eventually it will cycle back into your rotation with a new life: ROLLER! Mine has been an absolute go to for throwllers. The glide gets it out quite a ways before it dives down into a roll for me. I have gotten this thing out 450 feet in a field on a throwller, where my farthest drive in the air is as of now 375.

PS. Try to see if you can get it in it's halloween stamp, pretty cool stuff!

The Archangel is one of the flippiest discs I have ever thrown.  It does not take much arm strength to get it to turn hard to the right, and once it turns, it falls a long way.  Its high glide factors in here as well, resulting in throws that far exceed the kind of distance you would expect from an 8 speed.

Because of its flippiness and the low speed needed to get it to turn, beginners should find it easy to use for decent distance at low speed.  I rarely use mine, but have found that it handles uphills well, and can really soar on downwinds with a good flip.  I wouldn't recommend it for someone with a stronger arm, as other, more consistent discs can do the same thing.  But it's not a bad first driver.

Wow. I am only reviewing this disc because mine has had an interesting history. I bought it used as part of a smorgasbord of discs when I was totally new. It was a barely used 175g monster and the only "driver" that I got.

I took this disc to the beach (big beach, far from water... I thought). I was new and I thought "hey this will be a great open place where I can't lose a disc." So I aimed up the beach (parallel to the shore) with the ocean to my right and a decent headwind (which I also erroneously thought would just cause my disc to go a shorter distance), and I let it rip as hard as I could throw a disc that was already heavier than I was used to throwing.

That thing rocketed out of my hand and almost instantly turned, caught the wind and veered off 90 degrees to the ocean and sailed on and on and on right into it. As the disc was a sinker and like I said, the ocean was far away, it took me a long time to run out to where it should have been but alas, it was nowhere to be seen.

Fast forward several hours and my 9 year old daughter found it when the tide went out. I gave her the disc as a reward, but not really because it was appropriate for her.

I went out and threw it recently, now that I'm better and have reasonable control on my throws. It's just a weird combination of turning way too hard for a flying pig. Maybe lighter, this thing would be a bit more manageable, but almost every one I've seen for sale in stores is also heavy (175ish) and that's just not a really good combo for a weak arm thinking they can get some distance IMO.

I love the Archangel, although it would be nice if it was available in something more durable like Star.  I have owned five of these, and given two away.  I've only been playing for about two months, but I have worked hard to improve my skills as rapidly as possible.  This was the first disk I could turnover into an S-Glide, and now depending on how beat-in, I still use this as a roller, for tailwind shots, and for very long (>250') right turns, especially those that need a straight line then consistent right with no fade back in.

Pros:  Easy to throw for any skill level; remains useful as a roller or for a flat-release long distance right-turner.

Cons:  Each Archangel is a bit unique and you have to work through a few to find one with the flight you want.  Not available currently in durable plastic.

I bought this when I first started and it was nice. I could throw it maybe 150. But as soon as my arm speed picked up it became a roller for me. I occasionally use it as a roller now but I keep it now for when someone new wants to play with me and doesn't have any discs. It is a very beginner only disc.

The ARCHANGEL was one of the first discs that I owned. It has always performed great as a strait shootin', low fade disc. I still consider myself a beginner and even though I have found other discs that I use on a more regular basis, I can always depend on the ARCHANGEL to get me close to the basket in a pinch. It throws great, releases well and glides nonstop. I love it. Get a few of 'em and go throw!!

I had a 167 gram dx archangel as my distance driver for many years (though I didn't play all that often over this time).

This disc was a great driver for me as a new player.  The disc I had flew substantially more stable than the ratings suggest though it was still overall understable.  I never had issues with it becoming flippy.  It did need a fair amount of room to work to throw it for max distance as it both turned a fair amount and faded back a fair amount.  It helped keep me interested in the game early on as I could throw it quite a bit farther than the other discs I tried.

I eventually moved the archangel into my understable fairway driver slot once I started becoming more serious about disc golf.  It actually seemed to fade a bit more than I like for this role, so I eventually replaced it with another disc and gave it to a beginning player.

It's an understable driver. I love it myself, but archangel used to be my gaming name, so that might have something to do with it. This disc taught me what an S curve really is, and even though I don't use it much anymore, sometimes I pull it out just to reminisce. I would actually recomend this disc to newer players, the ones who are looking to get more distance, but not yet ready for a big distance driver.

For me it went right and never came back. I rolled hyzer flips ever with a near vertical hyzer line. I really don't like the groove on the wing. Some people really enjoy that, but not me. When it comes down to it I think it's either a disc for beginners or low power arms or for intermediate players looking for hyzer flips. If you like grooves on your wing then you may really like this disc, if not....well, you know the story.

This disc breaks in very quickly, and flies the way it is supposed to almost from the first throw. It does not require a lot of force.

I have this disc in a DX. Once it beats in, it flips very easily when thrown hard. Otherwise, I find that it throws pretty straight. I struggle to replicate the predicted flight pattern.

If you are just starting out or have a 'smaller' arm, try this disc, it could possibly change your game..

I love this disc. Because it's only in DX, I don't throw it when there's trees near me, but the distance you can get very easily with this disc is impressive. It is easy to throw at any angle, and it will usually take the path you want it to. I haven't had any luck with mine when it's windy though.

The Archangel was my first "go-to" disc. Loved the distance I got right away. Survived a good season in Minnesota. Wish Innova made it in other plastics. Got my first ACE with an archangel!!!
