The Gateway Samurai is a high-speed distance driver with moderate turn and moderate low-speed end-of-flight fade. The Samurai is one of Gateway’s farthest flying PDGA approved discs. For newer disc golfers, the Samurai reacts like an overstable disc. For experienced players, it makes a good turnover driver. This disc is also recommended for sidearm throws, rollers, and tomahawk throws.

I would say that for this disc, it is very difficult to have precision on. It has a lot of turn for a stable more than what it says in my opinion. I could see uses for this in tight situations where you need a massive curve on a hyzer or anhyzer. I don't think many people will enjoy this disc off the tee, but I would see it as an option for people who want a high fast shot that has a massive turn.

The Samurai is the first Gateway driver I've thrown in over a decade. Wasn't really sure what to expect.

The disc itself is pretty long and fast. It has a fairly neutral flight. A little high speed turn followed by a moderate late fade. I found the Samurai fairly resistant to turning over completely. It'll wander right a bit on most drives, but it always comes back reliably.

Distance capability is there. The Samurai will fly very far if thrown hard. It glides well and seems to almost end up further along than you'd think. Its almost like the Samurai is flying faster and further than it seems when you throw it. One other thing I noticed was that the Samurai will rise a little bit after it leaves your hand on hard rips. This added to the overall distance and didn't end up being a negative attribute.

Overall I liked everything about this disc except the plastic. The plastic seemed to ding easily and wasn't overly durable. The Samurai is a very capable long bomber and is fairly easy to throw. You don't need 500' power to make this thing sizzle. Not really a beginner disc. I'd equate the Samurai to a Sheriff, Shryke, or maybe even a Boss or Nuke. The Samurai has a gentler late fade though. I was able to get this disc out to about 440' regularly. The distance here is real. The Samurai will bomb if you get it up to speed.
