The Gateway Chief is a thin putt and approach disc with a very slim profile and a flat top. This is a beaded putter described as a "low profile Wizard with the same nose shape and bead." If you don't like bulky deep rimmed putt and approach discs, try the Chief.

Do you like throwing the Tomb, but the price is just a little too steep?
Do you like the Proxy, but the Simon tax made them unobtanium?
Do you want an Envy that's got less fade?
Do you want to throw a Luna like Paul McBeth but your hands aren't big enough?
Do you like the Westside Maiden, but you just can't find them anywhere?
Is the Invader a little goofy in your hand?
Are you scared of throwing your pretty Praxis into the water?

The Chief is your answer for all of those questions.

This is a very shallow, microbeaded, dead-straight flying putter from Gateway. In Hyper Diamond plastic, it will be board flat with a stiff rim and a flight plate with the perfect amount of give for your grip. Gateway describes the Chief as a shallower Wizard, but really it's like a 3/4 height Wizard if you're picturing it that way. The rounded shoulder of this disc compared to its most direct competition, the Maiden or Tomb, makes it feel a lot more comfortable in my hand. I also tend to get more consistent releases as a result, because the Tomb is sort of brick-like with a square shoulder. The bead is less pronounced than the Maiden, as well.

This disc is very true to a 3/4/0/1 flight number out of the box. It can be ripped hard and flat with no flip-up or turn and it will glide into a gentle, pushing fade. As it beats in, it will become a hyzer flip dream that still holds up to wind and still promises just a touch of fade. Its low profile matches most 5 speed midranges, but its rounded shape makes it feel and fly like a fast putter.

If you don't have something like this disc in your bag, you're missing out on a crucial slot. Gateway's Factory Second prices make this disc a must-try in any of their plastic blends. If you enjoy a Praxis/Tomb/Maiden/Proxy/Envy, you'll enjoy this disc as well.

This disc is SO UNDERRATED!! It's super low profile, fits in the hand well, and has a beautiful flight. Once it beats in, its a hyzerflip machine. It actually taught me the beauty of the hyzerflip. For me, it is incredible for dead straight to slight turn over tunnel shots, from 200-300 feet. If I power it on a hyzer, it can go over 300. Highly recommended for all players.

I own this disc in SS Suregrip, and it has become my main putter. Since I first started playing in high school 20 years ago, I exclusively putted with Wizards - and honestly was never really good, and HIGHLY inconsistent. I tried switching from spin to push to straddle... switching release angles... everything - and never found a putt that felt "good."

I recently got my own basket and put in a lot of work fixing my putting. I learned that deeper putters like the Wizards I have always used had a tendency to catch my middle finger's knuckle on release when using my fan grip, causing the disc to kick to the right immediately. I started experimenting with shallow putters and started with Shamans, and the shallow rim felt amazing and stopped catching my knuckle - but found them a little too understable for anything outside of 15 feet or if there was any wind - and I missed having the feeling of the bead. Then I tried the Chief and was hooked: perfect, clean release with my grip every time - and I can put much more spin on these. Now I am typically only missing high or low.

These are basically shallow Wizards. I have skinny long fingers and these just fit my hand and putting style perfectly. I don't use them for approach or off the tee.

This disc is my favorite in my bag. I first got it half used and it was truly stable right away. This thing will fly 250+ on a line with hardly any fade out. Now that it's older mine it pretty under stable and flips to flat on command, but I don't use it on windy days. I trust this thing more than my mid ranges to get the job done. Very good beginner disc for those who want to learn putter control.

If your searching for the perfect putter that seems like it belongs on the tee pad? You've found it in the Gateway Chief. Stable enough to put power behind and not turn over immediately, but not stable enough to fade out hard when you need that bone straight up the gut drive on a short 150-200ft hole. Making the Chief unique is their shallow rim, making it comfortable in the hand to drive. I've had yet to ace with this disc, but I'm sure it won't be long. I've been all over several baskets with this arrow straight disc. Gateway's new Diamond plastic makes this durable enough to take a beating in the woods. It belongs in every golfer's bag. I swear by the Chief.

This is a bullet nosed putter with a super slim profile and a flat top. Although its super aerodynamic shape makes sense, the mold seems pretty unique. There are other bullet nosed putters, but none are THAT slim (i.e., in regard to height). I have found it to be a perfect forehand and backhand upshot disc. As a throwing putter it gets almost midrange distance.

I have a Chief in SureGrip and one in Hyper Diamond plastic. So far they both fly similar, which is very straight.

Also, if you have kids... My young daughter (age 7) throws a SureGrip Chief more accurately and farther than just about any other disc. Putters are a good choice for newbies and perhaps thinner profile putters are best for kid hands (without being much of a problem for grown up hands.)
