The Gateway Chief is a thin putt and approach disc with a very slim profile and a flat top. This is a beaded putter described as a "low profile Wizard with the same nose shape and bead." If you don't like bulky deep rimmed putt and approach discs, try the Chief.

I've thrown 3 Chiefs in Diamond plastic, and they are definitely a straight putter, but they also have much more turn that I though, they're not that torque resistant, for all of you power throwers out there.

I'd definitely buy this for a glidey and slightly flippy putter!

Straight flyer with a little more flip than "0".  Noticalbly small in the hand and cant be power gripped but who cares?  Just enough glide to get you there but also has adequate finish. Great compliment to those overstable throwing putters.

The Chief is a beadless, shallow, low-profile putter.  Mine is in the diamond plastic which feels good, it has good grip and is fairly stiff.  I played some rounds using the Chief as a throwing and approach putter, I thought it flew ok.  It has a little bit of turn when thrown hard and not much fade, it is a very straight-flying putter.  The glide was so-so but I find I don't need my thowing putters to have a ton of glide, I am using them when I need control and accuracy.  The Chief didn't hold up too well in the wind, and in the end I decided it was too shallow for my liking.  This would be a good disc for beginners or anyone who prefers a shallow putter.

Best throwing putter on the market, shallow feel is excellent, laser straight, diamond plastic feels great. If you want a straight throwing putter get a chief

Excellent putter. Not a Reko, but it's the next best putter in regards to a low profile and shallow rim/flight plate depth. If you're someone with smaller hands or just prefer the feel of shallow putters then you'll be pleased with the Chief. I can get a nice grip for both putting and throwing. My putting putter that I bag for rounds is a Reko, but I practice with the Chief as the molds are so similar and it's typically both cheaper as well as easier to find in stock.

I wish there was an option for 6 stars with this disc. I was happy to see I wasn't alone in my love for the chief, but this might be the best putter I've ever thrown or putted with. It's almost a shallow aviar, but far superior. If you're a beginner, an intermediate, or even a really great player, there's a slot in your bag for this disc. Ditch the aviars.

    Putting:
Clean release. Paint the pole and this disc will go nowhere but in.

    Throwing:
Flat new, little hyzer once it's beat in, this disc goes straight. Like very straight.

Gateway also makes a Chief OS. With these two molds in the bag, it's hard to bag any other putters.

I putt with the sure grip chief, and use the Evo/Diamond chief for straight to flippy approach shots. If you find that deep dish putter catch on your fingers, or just feel to big, try this disc. It's also a very comfortable disc for flick approaches

I think the most defining feature of this disc is its extremely shallow rim. Putters with deep dish rims, such as the P2, Aviar, Aviar3, Harp, Wizard require a larger hand size to fan grip correctly, and they are beloved by tall, large handed men. I have small hands, and when I switched to using the chief I found that I could actually fan grip my putts, and I have ceased to have wrist pain after practicing putting.

As a thrower, this reflects it's stable flight numbers but only when thrown pretty soft. When you put any juice behind your throw it become VERY flippy. Im talking about 50+ degrees of rotation: start hyzer and turn to anhyzer. This is quite unlike other putters like the Wizard or Luna which will not flip much even when thrown at high speeds. I lean on it heavily for upshots and scramble shots in the woods.

    Straight as an arrow!

This is the first truly stable disc I have thrown. The Chief is great for learning how to release flat. If you release it flat, it will go straight, if you release at an angle you will know. It has very little fade. I use the Chief as a driving putter for tunnel shots or any other shot that I want to go straight without fading. The Chief is very stable, even into a wind. I can always rely on the Chief to fly straight in any condition.

I have the Chief in Soft plastic, which is firm. The disc is short and very flat. I throw the Chief with a three-finger power grip because of how shallow the rim is.
