Do you love the Escape but need more stability? Look no further than the Getaway. While it shares the feel and glide of an Escape, the Getaway boasts a more predictably overstable flight with moderate fade. When straighter flights with a subtle fade are a must, the Getaway is the one to trust.

Great stable/overstable driver. Sidearm and back hands it goes straight and and always has a stable finish even in a headwind, incredibly reliable. Once youbeat it in it will become a go to control driver.

This disc is great. I would say it is somewhat less stable than a thunderbird, but still a great disc. Personally, I get more turn than I would like out of this to fill that slot. It seems to be a great complement to the escape (a good increase in stability). For me, it just isn't the straight disc I was hoping it would be. I think for most it would be fine. For beginners or newer players it can be a great disc to substitute for a felon/firebird until your arm speed catches up a bit. After that, it is a great disc to have.

I've bought 3 new Lucid Getaways (pretty dye patterns, including the American flag), and 2 of them are great for straight forehand throws released on a slight hyzer. The third was less stable and became a Giveaway. For me, the 2 keepers fly more like a Champion Beast than a Thunderbird, which are also 5-star discs for their performance, durability and appearance. Really pleased with the Getaway, just found it less stable than its flight numbers indicate.

I thought I could not throw this disc straight enough as someone been playing for 10 years. i was use to throwing my flippy AvengerSS on forehand and backhand shots. Once I started to throw this disc with a less hyzer shot I could throw this disc almost as far as my AvengerSS but with more consistency.. Basically I threw everything this way and until I through flat did I bump up in distance and this driver. If you find yourself throwing the Maverick from Dynamic Discs or the Leopard and or Leopard 3 and having stability issues then I would bump up to this disc to become your new neutral flyer. I can throw the Maverick 250 feet straight until I gained more power. Now it has become an understable distance and roller driver.

Love this disc! I started with the escape. When I outgrew that disc (for a straight flight) I came to the getaway. This disc is wonderful. Thrown flat it turns a minimal amount, and just glides straight for a super consistent flight.

Lucid 174 grams. Great clear grippy plastic. Medium flex. Beats in faster then Innova Champion or Discraft Z which is something to consider.

I found the flight to be similar to an Innova Thunderbird. Stable control/distance driver. Very dependable even into a little wind with a medium fade.

Feel is very good, a little less plus then an Escape. Medium depth. I like this disc very much and bag it. 5 Stars.

I have this in lucid, biofuzion, and X plastic.

    Lucid:

Honestly, don't trust it. When I was bagging it I was looking for something reliably straight to compliment my escapes. The lucid beat in a little and picked up a pretty defined -1.5ish turn on a flat release and got finicky in the wind.

    Bio:

Similar to lucid but haven't used it enough to beat it up. Pretty close to flight numbers out of the box.

    X:

BEEF.  These things are gonna go straight and then aggressively fade out. Fairly similar to my used fuzion felon. I bag the felon so no need for these, but they are reliably beefy. Probably around 9/4/0/3.5.

Great disc, but getting the right plastic is key.

I throw this is the Lucid X plastic, which is plastic is particularly stable, even after a year of use it still barely flips at all with 400+ ft power.

The fuzion getaway I had would give a few degrees of turn even at 250ft power, and it beat in over time.

Disc - 175 Dynamic Discs Lucid Getaway

Feel - The Getaway is very comfortable in the hand with its small rim and thinner profile. Most of the ones I have felt have a dome but it is very comfortable. It feels good for both forehand and backhand shots. Lucid plastic is some of my favorite plastic in disc golf because it is extremely durable but also provides great grip.

Flight - The flight of the getaway is like a slightly more overstable out of the box thunderbird with more glide. When I first got this disc it was very overstable but still flew fairly far. It flies almost as far as my distance drivers but gives me a little bit of extra control over the disc. Many pros throw it in bio Fuzion plastic so that it beats in faster and has more distance potential and I would recommend that to someone who is looking for that shot but does not want to wait to beat in a lucid version. I throw this disc for forehands, backhands, and even the occasional thumber when I need to get out of trouble and it always does the job.

Overall - I would recommend the getaway to more advanced and intermediate players as it will definitely help them find shots that they never thought they could throw before. I wouldn't recommend it to beginners as it will be a meat hook until their arm speed develops.

I do like this disc, but I'll be honest, it is a bit more overstable than I anticipated. Now that I know that, I just use it for different instances than I originally intended, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a good disc.

Now that I've established the flight numbers aren't very accurate, let's talk about the disc itself. I love the name, and I love the feel of this disc. It's got a narrow profile which I like and it has a smaller rim, which I don't like as much, but is to be expected with a speed 9 disc. For some reason, this disc also had a very sharp inside rim which was extremely uncomfortable to throw at first. Now that it's broken in some, it's not so bad, but those are things that the manufacturer should take care of before shipping to a customer.

All in all, I thin this disc could fit a lot of needs for various players. It has been in and out of my bag several times, because quite frankly, I'm still undecided about it.

Yep this disc lived up to the hype for me.  I can control it very well out to about 380 feet. I get a clean release and a predictable flight. I don't use this as often as I would like because my local course only has one or two holes that are long enough.

Dynamic Discs' Getaway is what I feel is a more glidy Thunderbird with a prominent dome. I love this disc despite only bagging one at a time. The Getaway seems to follow what ever instructions you give it. Want to rip it on big power hyzer flip but still have fade at the end... want to throw a smooth, anhyzer flex forehand line through a needle gap... want to cut through the wind... want to attack elevation with ease... I could go on. I really do feel this disc is a underrated, but hopeful it may have a late renaissance as I am seeing more pros, especially among the FPO, throwing it as new plastics come out in this mold.

For me I only bag one Getaway (I have several in backup) as they beat in beautifully and stay consistent in their flight no matter how much I throw it. They are the point guard for my fairway drivers. Their reliability and versatility is why I only have one in the bag and flank it by several Felons and Explorers at varying wear for more special shots and situations.

The Lucid Getaway is my favorite fairway driver that I've ever thrown. Fairway drivers are my favorite type of disc and the Getaway can do it all. The Getaway is overstable, but not too overstable. The -0.5 turn helps it stay straight and even flex a little bit in its flight.

The Getaway flies fast and can go almost as far as my distance drivers. Thrown flat or on a hyzerflip the Lucid Getaway can get up to 405ft for me, and I can't wait to see what it will do as it breaks in.

The disc itself has some dome, but isn't necessarily a pop top. It is very familiar in feel to a Thunderbird, but, in my experience and opinion flies further than any Thunderbird I've thrown.

I'm struggling to understand this disc.  It feels like a thunderbird in hand but is a little more domey to look at yet I'm throwing this thing 40-50 feet further than my Thunderbird.  When I give it just a little anhyzer it flexes out there closer to my distance drivers.  Thrown flat it holds a super straight line until a predictable late fade.  My initial thoughts after throwing this disc a few times alongside several other bag staples in the field is that I was doing something wrong with my other discs,  or maybe I was over throwing the new disc.  Nope, this disc is just that awesome!  I'm beyond happy.  I'm considering down rating other discs I've reviewed if this is the new 5 star standard!  As this disc beats in I'll be ordering several more and I'm excited to try other plastics as well (currently have Lucid).

I used to think the Thunderbird was the best 9 speed fairway driver on the market, but then I bought a Getaway. Same stability as a Thunderbird, but with much more glide. Very straight with a reliable finish. This should be in everyone's bag. Even beginners could use this for big glidey hyzers, and experience players could use it for anything to big hyzers, flex shots, and dead straight 300ft to 400ft plus shots .Getaway and you'll never go back!

This disc flies absurdly far for a fairway driver. I threw my Shryke a personal best 435' while doing some field work. For fun I threw my getaway afterwards to see the difference... The Getaway ended up just 30' behind the Shryke, and it flew a MUCH straighter line. That was a real eye opening moment and has since changed how often I reach for my fairway drivers over my distance drivers. I have a burst-fusion getaway that will fly decently understable and straight, a lucid getaway that flies reliably stable in low wind, and a moonshine getaway that flies reliably overstable in a 5-10 mph headwind. Great disc. I'm going to try a Lucid-X getaway as I wish my moonshine had just a touch more fade.

What can I say besides I LOVE the Getaway! I bag a Lucid and an SE. Lucid is a worhorse type of disc, stable, but not crazy overstable, and lots of glide! I have started to reach for this on holes I used to go with distance drivers. I can throw the Lucid hard and flat, just right of a target and it will hold, hold, hold, then have a late finish. Very predictable for me on shots I need to finish a smidge late, in the 320-350 range.

That said, the SE version is a bit flatter, and a bit less stable, a very good compliment to the Lucid. I can throw the SE hard and flat, and it will drift a little right, but hook back up late. Very good for woods shots and controlled straight shots. Glide is still great on it.

For reference, I throw 360-380 on golf lines, and upwards of 400 on good days. The Getaway is perfect for long fairway shots

The Getaway is actually magical. There are other hybrid drivers out there that have similar stabilities and similar flights overall, but there are a few things this disc does that no other disc on the market can duplicate. First, the Getaway has insane glide. It is consistently closer to my distance drivers than my slower fairway drivers when throwing in the field. Second, it holds a very straight line throughout that incredible distance. If you throw Thunderbirds or PDs, the Getaway does everything those discs do but gives you just a little bit extra in every department.

People are saying this one of the very best stable control driver ever made, if not the best. And I can see why some might say that. The Getaway has the reliability of the best of them, but it has insane distance for such a stable control driver. I've only thrown the Lucid, but in review videos the Fuzion and Biofuzion seem a little less stable. So keep that in mind when choosing plastic.

The Lucid started out pretty overstable, but I kept throwing it and it is now breaking into something magical. It's now one of the best discs I've thrown. I finally understood what everyone was raving about. So if it starts too stable for you, give it time to break in. It's worth the time investment. Once it began to season, the Getaway became a thing of beauty.

This disc loves and also requires power, so not a very beginner friendly disc.

It could handle every bit of power I could give it and the turn was always tight and controlled, even in a headwind. It also has a nice forward fade at the end. When I need a disc I can trust and get good distance, this is the one I reach for. This disc is extremely reliable and it can straight bomb.

Love, love, love this disc. I think a lot of DD discs are less stable than the ratings, compared to Innova's and Discraft, but this one is spot on. The rating system they used to rate this disc should be the one they use going forward. I think they nailed it with this disc. I can't imagine ever having a bag without a Getaway or two. Planning on buying a fuzion one here soon...

I'll preface this review by stating a couple facts about myself.  I started playing Disc Golf in March of 2018.  About 9 months before this review.  Since then, I've gone absolutely crazy on this sport, building my form over and over and over again.  Recently, a video by Simon Lizotte finally clicked everything into place, my accuracy and distance on drives shot thru the roof.  After discussing with a Pro friend of mine the benefits of Distance Drivers versus, we kind of came to the same conclusion.  Since we're in Colorado and at altitude, distance drivers don't really do much more than fairways up here.  I've outdriven my Catalyst with an Escape.

On to the actual review.  Since finding that perfect stride in my form and regularly breaking 400' on drives, The Getaway is AMAZING.  I was on love with the Escape before, and still am, but, oh my, I've got a First Run Lucid Getaway that is absolutely the most amazing disc I've ever thrown.

Full power with flat release, it will get just the slightest amount of turn and fade back perfectly.
Full power with a hyzer release, it will hold the perfect hyzer and land exactly where I want it to.
Full power with an anhyzer release, as long as I keep the nose down it will carve thru the air like a hot knife thru butter, holding that anhyzer line for a little while before pulling out of it, heading straight and fading out.

This disc is insanely good.  So good, I currently bag 4 of them.

This is not a beginner friendly disc.  It's pretty overstable and needs a pretty strong arm to get it to fly appropriately.  I would suggest an Escape for beginners, anybody throwing consistently over 350' is going to love the way this flies.  I highly suggest the Lucid, although I have a Fuzion and a BioFuzion in the bag too.

Great disc that almost anyone could find a place in their bag for.

For big arms, it's going to be a BOMBER that has reliable finish.

For smaller arms, its going to be a great headwind driver that will go almost as far as your distance drivers.

Maybe the best disc DD offers!

I got the Moonshine Getaway in a player's pack at a tournament, and I absolutely love this disc for long fairway driver shots. I usually use this on a forehand, and if I put it on a decent hyzer and give it some height, I can get it to flip, turn, and fade reliably at the end. It looks like it is just going to turn over, but I have never had a problem with it turning over and never coming back. It had a lot more turn than I expected, but it gets me huge distance. I can almost get to my distance driver distance with the Getaway. I would recommend this disc for intermediate or advanced players for a slightly overstable fairway driver. For beginners, this would be a good, reliable overstable disc to get around obstacles.

While everyone was excited for the "escape pro" I do not feel this is it. This is much more of a beat in felon with more glide, which is not a bad thing at all. I have actually started using the getaway more than the felon unless there is a heavy wind. Get glide yet still have a great hard finish which I feel is very unique for a fairway driver.

i bought this disc a little before i was able to handle it and even after i was able to control other 9 speeds, i was still getting nothing but immediate fade. I kept working with the disc and after a couple of months have finally figured out how to use it. it definitely has a more extreme fade for me than the other overstable discs that i carry which can be quite useful when you need a sharp turn at the end of a shot. i can get good distance with it now and love to use it every opportunity that i get on a course. i mostly throw rhbh but this disc has worked well for me on forehand throws also.

I purchased this disc after hearing that it was more stable version of the escape and they nailed it on the head. I love my escapes but will shy away from them when I come across unfavorable winds. I've also think twice about using escapes on flicks because there is no dependable fade. For me they are one of the best feeling discs in my hand so I was very excited to try the getaway. In the hand it feels great - just like an escape. Mine is 175g and I do plan on getting something a little lighter in the future. Headwinds = no problem, but forehand throws are really what I grab this disc for. On a flick it will flip up and ride FOREVER and always have a dependable fade. I've had a few instances where I rolled my wrist and the Getaway traveled on the anny line for longer than I wanted but did fight through and came back. If you've always wanted a more dependable fighting version of the escape this disc is for you.

This disc flies like the numbers.  it is very straight for 2/3-3/4 of the flight then it bails hard.  I never quite felt like my arm speed was enough for the ideal flight of this disc.  Really this is ideal for the 400'+ arm.  I do think it is workable and could still make your bag if you are over 300'.  The glide is excellent and helps to make up for the amount of fade at the end.  You can still get distance with this disc.  Solid addition to the DD lineup.

This is a straight! That was my first impression. The Getaway bombs for a fairway and just goes straight as can be. It has a slight turn but other than that just keeps going straight. I'd give it more of a 2 fade. It's dependable, but not dumpy.

The rim feels really good... I've said it time after time, these speed 7-9 rims have ended up being my favorite because they are so easy to control and release properly. No need for a high speed 14 when you can lace this down the center of a fairway.

It's fairly comparable to an Infinite Discs Exodus, just a little bigger of a rim. Awesome disc, but I have a lot of discs that do this already. It deserves five stars, either way.

The Getaway has a great feel in the hand and releases clean when thrown hard. If you like a Criminal but want something that will get more distance and stay straighter, this disc is what you are looking for.

The Getaway flew like a beat Thunderbird out of box. It had a smidge of turn but had a consistent fading finish. I would say it flights as far or farther than my Thunderbirds.

Both the Lucid and Fuzion Burst felt great and flew very similar.

I enjoyed throwing the first run Getaway on our local course which requires a lot of shot-shaping because of tight fairways and hazards. It is solid driver when I don't need maximum distance, but I want dependable fade. The disc is definitely overstable, but not overly so (not as much as the Westside Ahti or Fortress). I would say that for me, a player with moderate arm speed, the Getaway has just the right amount of fade to count on, throw after throw, without it getting out of control.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for new players, since newer players often need a more straight-flying or understable driver to help them get a feel for throwing. But for intermediate to advanced players, the Getaway will fill an important spot in the bag for shots between 250-300 feet that need stability and consistent fade.
