The Kraken is an all-purpose fairway driver that flies with precision to the target. It doesn't have too much fade, nor is it too "flippy" for most players. When thrown with control and a smooth release, the Kraken can fly straight and predictably even for new disc golfers.

    Max Grip Details

Divigent Max Grip Plastic is one of the grippiest disc golf plastic blends on the market. It combines a soft feel with excellent grip for comfort and top notch performance. The grip compares with popular K1 plastic by Kastaplast with durability similar to the original Discraft X plastic. Max Grip plastic discs tend to have more dome than the same mold in different plastic versions.

I got several Max Grip discs for Christmas to flesh out my Divergent set and weather has finally enabled me to get out and start doing some field work to test them out. A couple things that struck me at once were how favorably different these Max Grip discs felt compared to the ones I had gotten last spring, making me wonder if I got a bit of bad batch on sale last year: These feel decidedly (and more pleasantly) grippier and seem to have a bit more give to them -- i.e., the earlier ones I had seemed a mite stiff and would give a rather wonky sounding klunk & bounce when hitting the ground at an angle. I like how the Kraken feels in the hand and releases from my grip; and I've no complaints about how it flies. I don't have a powerful arm and the numbers seem about right to me. If anything maybe a tad less turn at my arm speed: I saw the fade increase with a tailwind more noticeably than I saw the turn increase throwing back into the headwind. I get pretty good distance with it and a reliable fade at the end of flight. I tend to favor the higher grade plastics for their durability, but we'll see how well the Max Grip holds up over the course of a full season. I did have the very understable Max Grip Leviathan get popped up and turned over in the wind a couple times and go careening off into a parking lot and another time into a telephone pole, and for all the speed coming down from up high and hitting hard rough surfaces, it doesn't show much wear; so that bodes well for the durability of the Max Grip. Definitely a step up from the DX-type grades.

This is a Leopard clone. Feels similar, flies similar. A little less floaty but maybe a smidge faster. On a decent toss it worked out right before coming back towards center but still finishing a touch right of the initial line. My flight numbers: 6.5/4/-2/1

Without knowing the speed of this disc, I found it to be very understable. Full power throws turned over pretty quickly, but it wasn't hard to figure out the sweet spot on the Kraken. After taking some speed off, I really liked how nice and straight this disc flew. Absolutely a great disc for beginners, and could a good roller or utility disc for more experienced players.

The Kraken is a very solid understable fairway like a more flippy Leopard that just about anyone could start out with. The plastic is nice and feels decently durable and it's pretty domey which gives it great glide even at low speeds.

It's so understable that I had a hard time controlling it, the glide to the right would never stop and it basically always held to the ground.

I'm probably not the target market, but lower speed arms would do great with this one.

Impressed with the Kraken. Great feel for a base plastic. For an understable disc, it flies straight and resists turning over. Great tunnel shot disc.

This is my favorite Fairway Driver right now. It behaves just like you'd expect from the numbers: Throw flat and smooth and it flies dead straight. Power it up and it gives you a nice spiraling right turn. Can easily both hyzer and anhyzer around trees and come back to centerline on the other side. I agree with another poster that said Max Grip plastic has to be the best base grip plastic being made. Feels like a Star plastic but not quite as durable, although much more durable than DX or Prime. I also have the Ace Premium plastic and that does feel like my K1 Berg plastic. A plus is that these fly like they're supposed to right off the bat, no need to be beaten in. I'm fairly new (max distance is around 250ft) and own a 166g Ace and 169g & 170g Max's and they all fly the same. Can't wait until Divergent releases their next run of Krakens!

Throwing Max Grip plastic at 4,400 ft in Utah. To me, 5 stars = incredible disc 4 stars = good & dependable disc. I don't give out too many 5 star ratings.

The Kraken, this is a great fairway driver. Its easy to throw, get some good distance. I found that it is a pretty stable, a neutral driver. However, as time progressed, I easily saw it flipping more than it had. Which now makes it a great hyzerflip disc.

The feel of the plastic is pretty great! Honestly, probably the best base plastic out there. It has a good grip to it, and it can take a little bit more damage than other base plastic. The rim on this disc is pretty small, leading to a almost too tight of a grip. A little bit wider of a rim would lead to a more comfortable grip for me.

Overall, this disc is solid. I'll definitley recomend this disc to any beginner.

I picked up the Kraken because I throw a 100% mixed bag and love trying discs from smaller manufacturers. When I saw the description comparing Max Grip plastic to Kastaplast's  K1 plastic, I knew I had to try it. Honestly, the comparison is a good one. This plastic feels like one of the most durable on the market, and is super grippy. The flight of the Kraken is great as well. Understable enough that when thrown hard and flat it will turn the entire flight, but when I put a little hyzer on it, it will get me a beautiful S curve out to 330' or so. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite discs of all time, and the fact that they're so affordable blows my mind. This will be the disc I recommend to every new player.

I picked up a Kraken as part of the Divergent Starter Pack.  Let me tell you, this disc grips GREAT!  The plastic is a higher quality than I expected.  It flies like a Leopard or Leopard 3.  The quality of this disc is superb! Ten times out ten I'd purchase this again.  Strongly recommend this for newbies. The starter pack says this is a 7 speed disc but I'm not good enough to distinguish 6 vs. 7 speed in my throwing.
