The Kraken is an all-purpose fairway driver that flies with precision to the target. It doesn't have too much fade, nor is it too "flippy" for most players. When thrown with control and a smooth release, the Kraken can fly straight and predictably even for new disc golfers.

My wife started using a MaxGrip Kraken as her primary driver early in the season, and I recently got a couple others as backups for her -- including one in the MaxGrip UV plastic (because she enjoyed so much the color-changing Stayput UV plastic of her primary putter, the Divergent Golem). Since it was different enough from the original MaxGrip disc, I thought to put in another review. This version is noticeably more stable than the other was even when new, and feels a bit less tacky and more rigid. She has tried it out, and used it sucessfully for headwind shots, so it may make her bag, even though she has more recently moved up to a couple higher speed (still understable) drivers in place of her original Kraken. One note about this UV plastic: The disc has a plain look with a simple, light blue color then changes in the sunlight; but unlike the Stayput UV (which changes from colorless to having three richly colored bands), the color changes to a uniform dingier shade -- a bit more gray & green in it that gives the disc a pretty drab appearance, and if anything might make the disc harder to spot if it ends up in brush or tall grass (at least until it starts going back to its original hue if its now resting in more shade).
