I got my Sting used, and it has been a bit too understable for my purposes for a fairway driver: It's generally easier to accomplish what I want using other discs. (Not sure just how different its performance might be if completely new and how long it might take before it would become beat in.) However, this has been very useful for my daughter, and for friends who are beginners. The understability and glide factor help give them a straighter, longer flight for their power level and throwing form versus the other more stable fairway drivers & midranges I have to offer them. I like the feel of ESP and jawbreaker plastics (my disc is actually in jawbreaker plastic, but that wasn't in the dropdown list; I do have experience with ESP plastic from other discs, though), but definitely prefer the durability that comes with the ESP.

This disc is great for learning technique and making sure your form is sound if you are just starting out. It is also a great disc if you are getting more advanced and want to start learning the hyzer flip. I use it mainly for a backhand roller disc or the occasional anhyzer shot. I am starting to lean more towards the Heat but this is still a good disc especially for beginners.

    Plastic: ESP

    Weight: 176g

Feel: ESP is similar to Innova's Star Plastic, but it feels a little more grippy and a little less durable.  The Sting's 7-speed rim is very comfortable both BH and FH, as long as you don't have larger hands.

Flight: This is where the 3 Star review happens, this disc is bad, it's just touchy.  Used at 75-85% power you can get beautiful flip-ups into slow S-bends, but if you try to push much past 300ft, the Sting struggles to handle it.  Either you won't flip it up all the way, or it'll turn-and-burn to the right.

Conclusion: Not a bad disc, and one I actually do bag and throw, but if you need a straight-to-understable fairway, there is just better, more consistent, and reliable options out there.

Sidenote: This disc is one of the understable drivers I learned sidearm on, and I highly recommend any who wants to learn to throw FH to grab some understable fairway or mid and throw flip-ups.

i own this disc in esp and titanium plastics. both plastics tend to just flip on their backs even with hyzer off tee if you try to rip it. slower arm speed needed for correct flight path. 200-300ft distance.
