I've got a red Z Line Crank in 166 gram plastic, and this disc is honestly kind of awesome. I like it a lot more than I expected to.

I can hit 400 feet on my drives, but have never been particularly comfortable throwing really flippy discs. I had a good forehand and a good backhand, so just threw max weight stable plastic on hyzer lines, discing down if I needed to land softer.

This disc was the first driver that I could throw on an anny and have it actually ride out to 400 feet on the gentle angle flattening out without really worrying about it flexing out or turning over into a roller.

Out of the box it had no turn at all regardless of it's weight, but didn't hook in as hard as a new Force or anything like that. It just rode the lines I threw it on. After using it a fair amount when throwing Anhyzers to give my arm a break from forehands it's begun to break in enough to have a little turn, and has become wicked for long distance rollers and driven hyzerflips that skip forward instead of hard left.

It's definitely too fast for beginners, and it's definitely more stable than the numbers would suggest out of the box. I wouldn't necessarily recommend a Crank to anyone, but I wouldn't dissuade them from getting one either. There are a lot of discs that can do what the Crank does without being quite as touchy (Scorches come to mind as having similar numbers with more glide and lower speed, so get the turn more consistently), and if you've got a fast enough arm to really get use out of a 13 speed for max distance you'll honestly probably want a couple copies of a more stable mold at different stages of wear, which could definitely cover the shot shapes possible with a Crank.

I lost my Enigma driver while on vacation and needed something to replace it. While at Sabattus DG shop in Maine, I picked up the Crank based on the recommendation of their staff. Needless to say, it did not fly anything like my Enigma. It was more stable than I was looking for. That may have been because my Enigma was already somewhat seasoned. Either way, I didn't' have it for very long as just a couple of days later while playing Maple Hill hole 5 from the golds, I threw a forehand that kicked off a tree and went straight into the pond. :(  I will say, I don't think I'll miss this disc all that much.

There appear to be some inconsistencies in manufacturing this disc. I got a Z-line Crank as a beginner, so I wasn't surprised when it was an absolute meat hook for me because of my low arm speed. However, I tried throwing it again when I could throw 350' +, and it was STILL super overstable for me. Even now that my Crank is beat in, it flies more like a Force; I'm not unhappy about that, but I know others who purchased it had very different flight numbers. I've bought tons of Discraft discs, and none of them have had the flight numbers so off.

173G Z Line. Solid disc. Geared towards newer or lower arm speed players. Good for turn over or anny shots. I think this is a true 12 speed driver. Love to work up arm speed with angle control.

I saw all of the great reviews for this disc and was extremely eager to try it out. Unfortunately instead of getting the disc that has -2 turn and 2 fade, I got something that flew like a super beefy Destroyer. I can rip this thing and it will flip up to flat and fade out, I'm no Double G or anything, but for how hard and far I can throw it should not fly like this. I could break it in and I could see myself using it, but as of right now its not making my bag.

I found the disc to be flippy when thrown well but when I threw it hard the disc was very understable. I did find the glide to lacking, especially fir an understable disc. I found part way through the flight the disc usually just dropped. The fade was enough to bring the disc back when the glide dropped out when thrown with some height but when low it had a tendency to cut roll. With the inconsistencies I would only recommend for a low power arm potentially, it could maybe be more consistent and the turn would allow for some distance.

I have a crank in esp and I find that when I first bought it, it was a relatively straight flyer. As time went on this disc became very flippy. I use it now for long turnover shots. This disc has a great feel for both forehand and backhand shots. This disc will be under stable to people with big arms.

    Disc(s) - 173 ESP Crank, 174 Z Crank

Feel - The crank has a wide rim that is fairly shallow. It is definitely could be fairly uncomfortable to a player with smaller hands.

Flight - The crank is definitely an understable distance driver. I love this disc for tailwinds or long rollers. It is a great driver for players with a bit of a slower arm or one who likes to throw with a lot of hyzer. Personally I am more of a natural anhyzer thrower and so it is hard for me to trust the crank because my mistake would be to make it cut roll. Overall this is a great distance driver with a lot of glide that has a good amount of turn.

Overall - The crank is a great understable distance driver that could get players with slower arm speed or want to throw with a bit more control.

One of my favorite and longest driving discs. Good for a little bit of a flex shot for begginers due to being neutral stability with such a high speed.

New player...I "Cranked" this into a creek and never saw it again.  Little bit tough of a throw for newbies.  I would recommend a little slower on the SPEED rating for newer players.

Probably my favorite disc ever. This was the first high speed driver that i could throw past 300 ft both sidearm and backhand so it has a special place in my heart. I had one in the X Plastic but that one is now too understable and i use a Z as well as a Pro D. Both are great. I really have nothing bad to say about this disc at all. Its pretty much perfect. Not beginner friendly for backhands, but maybe best for stepping out of that beginner stage. For sidearms i don't see why a beginner couldn't use it and see success though.

The Crank is a very great disc for those who have a mid to bigger arm speed. For me it flies like a beat up ESP Nuke. I throw the Crank on shots where I need to have a straight shot with a decent skip. This disc is also pretty reliable in the wind. If you put the Crank on a small anhyzer, it will just take off straight. This disc almost seems a little faster than some of the max distance drivers like the Nuke and the Nuke SS. I would deficiently recommend this to any intermediate to advance player.

Well let me tell you, this was the disc I learned to drive on. Had my first run for over four years until I decided to throw it right into a pond. This disc is fantastic! Just enough turn to get around trees in the fairway or just get a nice s shot in the open. This disc will always have a special place in my heart.

I've been looking for a driver easier to throw than a Nuke or Boss and less OS than a Force or Destroyer for some time. So today I picked up a Z Crank(168g), played two rounds with it, and it's pretty much the answer to all my problems. Even from a stand still I can crank this thing hard enough to get a big S turn and its getting me the distance of one of the super wide(2.5cm Nuke/Boss) drivers without having to throw my back out to get it there. This is going to be my go to for the forseable future. After the rounds I grabbed an ESP crank and threw it a bit and its just as good but with a touch more grip. All in all this disc should be in everyones bag, especially those of us that cant turn over a force every throw.

Those newer to the game will probably get some extra distance out of this disc, but it's definitely a must have for those with above-average arm speeds. It's great for windy conditions, and I can really "Crank" it on a RHBH with the thicker rim. I would say it has less turn and fade alike from throwing the Elite Z plastic, and can easily get over 400'. It's absolutely a game-changer for me when I need a big throw and will highly recommend this disc.

I generally throw in the 320-350 range and this disc is my most consistent disc. The ratings are pretty accurate as it has a little bit of turn and moderate fade, but generally it's pretty straight. If you have moderate power, this will be a great distance driver for you, it holds up in some wind and flies very consistently. It is not an overstable meathook.

The only discraft disc I bag. Nothing against discraft, I'm just not a fan of their raised lettering on the inside rim. I am more innova, lat64, millinium, discmania collector.  Didn't like any other of their discs that I've tried. I haven't tossed all of them. Would get to expensive to keep backups of all these different brands. I gotta have my limits.

So why the crank? It's easy, the flight numbers and the feel of the disc with those numbers. I'm still in the process of figuring out if I want this disc over the dominator or krait, but this disc is trustworthy.

I use this disc forehand mostly right-hand for those straight shots that I'm trying to go for max distance that I need to fade right.  I've backhanded it a little and really had some good drives.  When I forehand this disc I usually hear,  what was that? I tell them that was my forehand lol, then say crank. This disc fills a hole between the thunderbird and destroyer.  Yes, the thunderbird is a speed nine but it goes straight forehand.

I used to throw the nuke. However, I've found them to be to inconsistant for me. Nuke is a great disc though. I just prefer the crank.  I guess at the time I wanted the nuke to be os. This was before the nuke os existed.  I went to the ape and loved it, but now I went to the champ boss as it has one less fade and with that I get more distance.

Great disc though, I really recommend it if you want a stable forehand disc that can go the distance.

I am loving this disc!  It has a great flight path that lands it straight where is is aimed.  Im a RHFH thrower and this is a disc I can really get into.  It has a good amount of turn and an equal fade to max out distance.  This is my go to distance driver when I have some room for the disc to fly, as it has a good S curve to it, so not recommended for tunnel shots.  I live in pretty open areas so wind is an issue, but it holds up well.  You do need a good amount of snap to get this to turn, so not completely beginner friendly.  I received a second Crank in a mystery pack and let a buddy throw it, it has become his go to distance driver as well.  The Crank is probably my favorite Discraft disc.

Love this disc! I needed a distance driver that i could throw with hyzer and have it flip and this disc fits perfectly. Brand new they are a bit stable but once beat in its hyzer flips for days. Beginners will like it for forehanding maybe not as much backhanding since it is a faster disc. Great if thrown flat or a tad of anhyzer and it will hold that line until the end. Also a great disc for forehands through the woods or if you need a lot of glide.

There you are at the teebox. Everyone is watching waiting to see what you will pull out to make a big throw on a longshot. Well guess what Abigail May, this is the only acceptable time to reach down and grab your crank and pull it out for everyone to see. This disc is a great driver for a reliable fade after a nice flat throw down the fairway. This disc is very consistant and has a great feel to the grip. It is so comfortable that it is like grabbing a hold of something, let's say it goes by the same name.

You want distance and the occasional innuendo keep this crank with your nutsac. Afterall, they go together so well. One nice package some would say...

The crank is currently my favorite disc for pure distance. When I first bought it I picked up an x out because the numbers looked appealing. Little did I know the disc was to much for me then. Fast forward a year later, I decided to try it out...and I'm glad I did. This thing became my farthest flying disc. I would consider myself having a bigger arm (400ish) and for the longest time I got the perfect turn with the flight path as mentioned. Just the other day I set my new distance record at 435 feet! I would say it's not for a person new to the game, but once you get some power built up you can learn to control it. Mine is starting to become a little under stable, so it might be time to pick another up!

When thrown with a flat release the Crank does have a very consistent, controllable turn to it. It doesn’t flip too fast, and won’t completely roll over, but it will slowly glide out to the right. When you give it a little hyzer on release, the Crank will flip up flat, and depending on the angle, track just a little to the right, before fading back to the left.Stronger arms were able to produce more turn than the weaker arms, but the weaker arms never felt like they didn’t have the ability to throw the Crank properly.

My longest distance driver in the bag. Can throw any shot with it....flex, anhyzer, straight to fade, or big hyzer lines. Holds up to wind pretty well. My go to for max d with open fairways. Definately recommend to anyone who throws bh up to 400'. For my strength I cant over power the disc and I throw bh to 400' max. Never tried fh as I am not very good at it.

At first I loved the Crank. Out of the box it felt like a beat in Nuke. After it had broken in I found it very unpredictable. I could control the disc so long as I didnt put to much power behind it. It has a nice s-curve that makes distance easy. If your looking for easy distance from smooth throwing this is the disc you want.

the crank is nice and stable distance driver for those turnover shots or s turns this works wonders. With 1.3 stability rating this shows it has some turn over ability but still maintains it line down the fairway.
