    Special Blend Z Details

The Special Blend Z is similar to the Z-Line plastic but just a little modified. It can be completely translucent or have some sheen to it. This plastic offers a little bit more grip than Z Line, and still has a great amount of durability. This will prove to handle the abuse disc golf offers, and provide a long lasting plastic.

The Captain's Raptor has grown on me quite a bit in the 9 months I have used it. It certainly IS an overstable and reliable disc, even more overstable than the traditional Raptor. It has added flair to its finish too, making it ideal for skip shots around tight corners. However, it is one of the strangest things I have ever seen that the disc is actually MORE shapeable and LESS overstable the SLOWER you throw it! Its like soft shots engage the E-Brake drift on this driver! Weirdest thing I have ever experienced. But, I really enjoy it!

This disc is exactly as advertised. Mine is max weight and really overstable. I wouldn't say that it has a turn of +1 as mine will actually hold straight and I can get it to glide right if I put it on anhyzer. But it will always finish hard. I have been a firebird thrower for a long time and was really curious when Discraft came out with these and I wanted to check them out because the firebirds in my bag have started to beat into fairly straight flying discs, and they are very similar discs. I would say just as overstable as a new firebird. Great disc, and a really cool idea.

The Captain's Raptor is not a disc for the feint of heart. This tweaked Raptor was made for Pro's in mind and it shows. Rip it hard and it will hold straight until it begins to slow down. This is a disc you can always trust, no matter the conditions. We know Pro's love it, but is it even useful for amateur player? Watch the review below to find out!

This disc is everything I wanted my Champion Firebird to be and is now a go to disc off the tee for me as a RHFH thrower. Anything from huge annhyzer flexes to straight flights with reliable quick fade to hyzer placement shots. Highly recommend this disc for powerful FH throwers.

EDIT: This disc has beat in rather quickly and while it's still very stable but will definitely flip up a bit when thrown flat, so I've edited my turn rating from a +1 to a 0. Still a great disc though and I'll certainly be trying to snag a couple next year.

The Captain's Raptor does exactly what it's advertised to do: 100% premium beef. The best part about the Captain's Raptor is it's the right amount of beef. A lot of players swear by their FAF Firebirds and Tilts, but those discs are practically unthrowable by 99% of players. While the Captain's Raptor does take a considerable amount of power to fly it's much more workable than the two molds above. This makes it the perfect wind fighter and get-out-of-trouble discs for me (350ft forehand power). My scramble game hasn't been better since I got it.

DISCLAIMER: This disc does have a deeper hand feel than your typical Firebird, Raptor, and Felon. I personally have learned to appreciate the deeper rim as I'm able to get cleaner releases even when throwing from an awkward footing.

This thing is awesome. I have it in the dark grey, and the sparkle that comes off of it is so pretty. Paul described this perfectly as a disc meant for those with high arm speeds. If you have a slower arm, you would get away with a similar flight off of a normal raptor. I don't use this guy a ton in competitive play, the courses I play don't call for this shot shape very often, but when I do use it, it is extremely helpful. Super awesome utility disc. I like this guy off the tee for any hard skip shots, hard force flex lines, and if I am caught in the woods a flick roller to get out. This disc is great for the advanced bag, could be found in some Int. bags as well. I think this might be way to much disc if you aren't throwing over 350. If you are throwing over 350, you won't have much use outside of emergency flicks. Unless you're throwing over 400, maybe 450, there won't be much use of this off the tee.

I've got a red first run Captain's Raptor, and it's exactly what it was advertised as; a Raptor but even more stable.

It feels a little deeper and flatter than stock Raptors, and will be a utility disc for most arms that are capable of throwing it at all.

Watching the Captain's Raptor episode of Eric Oakley's "Is That Good?" showcases how the Captain's Raptor can be thrown on really dramatic flex lines by slower arms, but when thrown with speed on anhyzer it refuses to carry into the turn and instead just fights straight forward before crashing.

When thrown on hyzer it fights to the ground almost comically fast.

The low glide shows in how steep the disc comes down to the ground when fading, almost removing the risk of dramatic flare skips carrying you far past the landing point by diving nearly straight down into the ground so it bounces back up instead of forward when thrown with any height.

The flight path here on Infinite shows the Captain's Raptor flying out to 350 feet, which you just shouldn't expect to get out of it. If you struggle to break 400 feet in general, you'll be lucky to reach 300 with the Captain's Raptor on a flex. Distance isn't really what this disc is for though; it's dealing with wind and getting to the ground without risking carrying too far.
