In Star plastic, this disc was quite overstable and reliable. I also carry a Toro and there is a lot of overlap. I imagine for those who already carry a Zone or Toro this disc is best in base plastic as a beat in straight flight complement. I also compared this to a discmania p3x. The p3x is less overstable in comparison and more likely to have a forward pushing fade where as the aviarx3 in premium plastic seems to dump out of its flight.

A very good disc for what it claims to do, overstable approach. Personally, I found it to be too deep to forehand, which is my preferred approach shot but it is defiantly overstable.

I still prefer a zone solely because of the depth makes it easier to have in a forehand

This review is for max weight star plastic. I've used the aviarx3 a lot in my last 5 rounds of golf. NOT A ZONE - and I love it for that. I love a zone (bag two of them) but this does something special for me the zone doesn't. If I'm in the woods and tackling a scramble, this just feels like the best disc in the world. For me, it backhands and forehands really well. I threw a forehand roller with it today. It's definitely overstable but i wouldn't call it a beefcake. You can lay into this disc two. My max with it is about 300 feet. Still getting to know this disc but I already am trusting it and starting to lean on it.

    FADE in the Shade X3

RHBH or LHBH 170g Star plastic JK Day Glo    Finally !  Innova gets the very stable Aviar right.  if i have room for a fade, and there is money on it --- this is the disc.    Flat top gives the control for placement approach and short drives. Also pretty good for pitch putts.  Easy drop shots.  Low hyzers have a nice jump to hop closer to the pin. Will "S" turn really hard downwind.   Day Glo Plastic is very easy to see. Great grip.  More Glide into the wind, Slam the ground downwind.

Lots of glide for how overstable it is.  This disc is intuitive for me, meaning it's easy to imagine the full flight before releasing.  When I need a spike hyzer from 50 to 150 feet, this is my first choice.  I also love it for down hill floaty anhyzers that I need to land flat.  Also lazy-lifter putts that need to wrap around trees to close to the basket.

This disc is a solid approach disc. If you need a dependably fading sidearm or backhand putter, you can build a lot of confidence for those types of approach shots with this disc. If driven off the tee, I've found it useful for those hyzer shots that you don't want going too far. Sometimes if you power down on an overstable midrange for those shots, it tends to fade too hard or be less controllable and prone to error. I step down to the Aviarx3 becausre I can still put power behind it and know it's not going too far due to it's low glide. Also great for throwing just right of the basket and letting it drift down to the basket. In other words, perfect for approaches. My other approach putter is an Opto Pure which gets substantially more glide and is far more understable, so it's mostly used on dead straight approaches or anhyzers, whereas the Aviarx3 is a much better hyzer approach disc. The only thing downsides I've experienced is the grip. For some reason, my disc in star plastic is smoother and not as tacky as star plastic I've used before, and the disc feels a little deep in the hand to me. That slightly awkward feel mostly comes into play for my forehands, but I think most putters thrown forehand are going to feel a little deep/sharp when throwing. Because I throw so many molds, I don't let the grip issues keep me from throwing it and taking advantage of it's niche use on the course, but that may be something to consider. Overall, a great overstable putter though

This is an underrated over stable approach disc IMO. What's great about it is that it is slower, and much more like a putter than the other popular approach discs like the Zone, Harp, A2, etc. I have thrown those other discs and they are significantly faster, which makes it a little harder to slow them down right under the basket. The Aviar x3 also has very low glide, which helps with not overshooting targets. If you can find a very flat or puddle top one, it will be plenty stable too. Great overstable putter and approach disc

The AviarX3 is my go to approach putter. I use it mostly for forehand upshots but if there is some wind, im reaching for this disc for my backhand as well. This disc is not very beginner friendly due to how overstable it is but if you have a good touch forehand, highly recommend it for you're bag. I currently bag a star AviarX3 but have bagged a Luster one in the past. Both work great however I would recommend a max weight one in whichever plastic you like best.

For me this didn't fit the overstable approach slot. This thing feels more like a stable laser shot to me. I want something beefier for the overstable pna slot but this could work as a beefy driving putter or just straight forehand disc. Good disc just not what I was looking for.

The AviarX3 is an excellent disc that can be used by any type of player. Mine flies very similar to a Harp or Zone and works great for BH approaches and/or forehand flicks. Sneakily good forehand roller disc. The height/rim depth ratio is a bit too deep for my comfort when it comes to a power grip, but feel good with a fan grip.

The AviarX3 is a good approach disc in my opinion. I have only owned AviarX3's is star plastic and they have held up great and don't break in too quickly. In star plastic, on forehand and backhand lines, this disc will ride straight and have reliable fade at the end of its flight. It is over stable enough to fly flex lines if you put it on anhyzer but if you turn it over too much, it won't come out of it. I would compare it too a deeper feeling zone that's just a touch more under stable.

I have the Aviarx3 in Star plastic and it fills the spot in my bag for an overstable approach disc perfectly. The disc is shallow and feels so good in the hand for both forehands and backhands.

I use the Aviarx3 for my hyzer approaches and any upwind approach shot. It has a very reliably strong fade. I really like the lack of glide as you can throw this disc hard and trust it not to glide past the basket. Once it hits dirt/grass it really sticks and doesn't bounce too far. I see this disc remaining in my bag for a long time.

The Aviar x3 is a good option when looking for an overstable putter/approach disc. This disc has very little glide and a lot of fade, making it very trustworthy for approach shots. It can be thrown flat and hard and still be counted on to fade back to the left (RHBH) at the end of the flight. I like the feel of the flat top but don't enjoy the overall feel of the disc in my hand. This may be due to a lack of a bead and personal preference. I was also hoping to use this as a forehand approach disc but it didn't quite fill that slot in the bag for me. The grip/feel was an even bigger issue for me forehand. You can't put as much power or torque on it forehand as you can backhand. It can still be thrown forehand but requires much more finesse than I was expecting. Overall, the aviar x3 is a good disc but I have found other discs I like better to fill its role in my bag.

The aviar x3 is good overstable putter from innova. This disc however, is not necessarily a torque resistant beast of an overstable discs used for flick upshots, like an A2 or zone. this disc feels great in the hand and flies well on backhand drives. This disc doesn't have much glide and can hold up to a lot of power. It is possible to flick with this disc, however it takes a lot more finesse and is less forgiving than other approach discs. All around this is a good disc that does its job well, however there are other discs out there in my opinion that can double as a flick putter and backhand driving putter better than this one.

This disc is so trustworthy and feels great in the hand. You can always count on this to fly straight with a nice left finish on a RHBH shot. Into headwinds, it will fly very straight, but not turn over. Decent glide for an over stable putter, I can throw it up to 300 feet. Very straight for forehand approaches also.  I highly recommend this disc to your throwing putter arsenal!

This disc, unlike the Aviar3, actually fills a unique mold on the market. The AviarX3 is easily one of the deepest overstable throwing putters out there. For some, this might make it uncomfortable for forehands, but this thing is very consistent for backhands. Unfortunately, this type of mold is becoming more and more replicated and there are just some other molds that feel better in the hand that fly the same way.

I just picked one of these up and have played a couple rounds with it and wow, it is much more overstable than the Aviar3. I can keep the Aviar3 strait for about 200ft or so before it starts to break but not the Aviarx3. This disc also handles sidearm shots much better than the Aviar3. With the Aviarx3 I don't experience as much of a "speed wobble" like I do with the Aviar3. Both have a spot in my bag now!

**Note: My review is based off of the Proto AviarX3 (which I believe was XT plastic) but that was not an option here so I just selected Star so I could leave my review.

The AviarX3 is an Overstable beadless putter from Innova. When I say Overstable however, I don't mean dumpy like a Zone or Slammer. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely going to fade for you, just not quite as much. This disc is a little taller than the Aviar3 and a little more beefy as well. Very flat top (which I love) and a great feel in the hand. Not really a whole lot more to say about it besides the fact that it's just a very good OS throwing putter.

As for putting... I wouldn't see many people using this thing as a putting putter as I believe it was designed more for throwing than for putting. However if you wanted to beef up on a windy day with something to fight the wind on your putt, this would be a good choice. Check out my crew's full review of the AviarX3 here...

The AviarX3 has really become a workhorse for me on the course. I can backhand it AND forehand it, which is usually a problem for me with other putters. The stability on the AviarX3 makes it reliable in headwinds without having to worry about turning it over.

It's a great approach disc because it reliably fades. On drives, I can rip it and it will fly straight and then gently fade. This disc has really upped the level of my game.

It is often compared to the Harp or Zone, but I don't feel it is as stable as those. I think it fills the same slot for use though, but I like the feel of the AviarX3 a little better (but maybe that's just what I've gotten used to. I don't have many throws with the other 2).

Overall, I would recommend this disc for the intermediate player looking to add some more shots to their bag. This disc gives some options on approaches and / or shorter holes that really helps level up your game.

If you like the Prodiscus Jokeri, you'll like this disc. They, for all intents and purposes, are the same. At least IMO, they feel the same, look the same, and fly the same. So what it comes down to is what kind of plastic or manufacturer you prefer. Champion Color Glow feels awesome and the Luster does too. Or do you prefer the grip of Star plastic. Or are you the kind of non-sponsored player who only throws one manufacturer's discs? If you answer yes to any of these questions, grab an aviarX3. If not, either the AviarX3 or the Jokeri will fit in the OS appraoch disc slot for ya. I use it BH and FH. Great tool!

The Aviar3 is designed to be the overstable windfighter of the family. It has a comfortable feel with its flat top, and it is extremely stable. I also found this disc to be glideless, you could really control this on approach shots. Great option for those looking for a stable putter.

The AviarX3 is a really good overstable approach disc.  It is very similar to a Harp, but it not beaded like the Harp is.  As such, the AvX3 is a great wind-fighter as well as great for hyzering around obstacles.  I like the feel of the disc in my hand;  it is comfortable to grip and to throw.  If you prefer non-beaded discs, the AvX3 will fill the overstable approach  niche and wind-fighting niche very nicely.

The AviarX3 that I have is a 170 G star.  This disc has a very flat, almost puddle top to it.  Its very comfortable in the hand.  I've thrown Harps and Zones before and while this disc is somewhat similar its not as overstable as either the Harp or the Zone.  The AviarX3 does have some glide to it for having such a flat top.  I used this disc on a hole at one of my local course.  Down hill 270' hyzer shot down a hallway of trees.  If you go long past the basket, you're going right off the side of the mountain and it gets rough down there.  I would throw the AviarX3 on a flat release and just let the disc do the work.  It would hyzer out with a soft finish and it never really skipped.  I feel like this is the disc that we all wanted the aviar3 to be.  For forehand shots this disc will fly very straight and then finish soft to the right.  If you to roll your wrist and turn it over it will not fight back out of that.  Overall its a very nice addition to the Aviar family.

This is the best driving and approach putter I have ever had in my hand.  I lost mine to a water hazard and my game has suffered ever since.  I will be purchasing another one ASAP.

I reach for this disc for basically any shot inside 250 ft.  Doesn't matter if I need a back hand that always hyzer or anhyzer that I know will flex out if you give it enough air to come back. This disc has the most predictable fade.  I don't have the strongest forehand however I could comfortably use this for both straight to hyzer forehand approaches and Anhyzer forehands that I know will flex out to get around trees.

Maybe the best thing about this disc is that the S-line plastic doesn't really skip.  If you need to stick your approach and not get very much ground play its perfect for that.

My go-to disc for almost any shot under 225'. I throw it mainly RHBH but can flick it as well if I'm in a pinch. When thrown flat, it will hold the line for a while then will always, dependably, fade back to the left. Thrown on hyzer, it will slowly fade the whole flight. Thrown on a slight anhyzer, it will most often come back and finish fading left. I've thrown the same disc in star plastic maybe 15-20 times a round and have not noticed any change at all in the flight characteristics. Absolutely my favorite throwing putter in my bag.

I am a Senior Grand Master (RHBH), so my arm speed is not worth bragging about. However, I can rip into this disc with all I've got, into a decent head wind and this disc won't turn! Holds a very nice controlled hyser line on other shots and thrown normally and flat, she'll fly pretty straight and just sort of drop to the left at the end of flight. This disc has been in my bag for about 12 rounds now and she is here to stay.

    Aviar3's big brother!

Has got to be my all around favorite disc out there. I feel it's very true to its flight numbers and holds up to the power you put into it well with little to no turning over as well as a super consistent fade. The aviarx3's mold helped invite a lot of confidence into my approach game, it can be thrown with moderate power and not glide too far past the target landing area. Personally I can't say I've made many impressive putts with it, but as long as any 100-175' approaches land me with a 10' shot... Even I can finish that up!

I highly recommend this disc to any player that would like to bag a consistent, beadless putt/approach disc with an incredibly comfortable feel that will be able to hold lines BH or FH.

The AviarX3 will fill the overstable putter slot in anybody's bag. I replaced my Harp with the X3, as I felt that the X3 was more comfortable in the hand. It is very overstable. Thrown flat, it will probably go up to 250 feet for me. I cannot get any turn out of it no matter how hard I throw it. I throw it mostly backhand, with a forehand once in a while, but my forehand game is not strong. However, I have heard other people say it is a great forehand disc.

My AviarX3 went in my bag the day I bought it and it hasn't let me down yet. It gives me the perfect stability and release out of my hand on approach shots FH or BH from 75-150 feet. I will also use it occasionally on drives up to 250 feet BH. The disc will fly flat given a little power and spin and then fade as it slows down. It doesn't glide past the basket and fights the wind well. My favorite use for this disc is anhyzer FH where I need the disc to flatten out after getting past a tree. Everyone should have an overstable throwing putter in their bag and the AviarX3 is a great one!

For an overstable putter I used to bag an Axiom envy, I then went to a Rhyno then I went to a P2 and now I use an AvairX3. This disc has been exactly what I've been looking for in an overstable putter. The Avairx3 has enough glide to get some distance but, enough stability to be controllable. If a P2 and a Rhyno had a baby, I believe you'd get an AvairX3.

I originally took this disc out just to test it for this review. I was quite impressed and now it is now my favorite overstable approach disc on the market. The AviarX3 is exactly what I wanted the Aviar3 to be, a flat overstable putter that I could easily forehand and backhand. Honestly, this disc has probably saved me 1-2 strokes per round since I learned to throw it.

The AviarX3 never turns over and finishes with hard fade. Its hard to get any further than 275ft. It has revitalized my approach game because I can trust with either throwing style. You need to make room in your bag for the AviarX3!

    THERE'S BUTTER IN THIS PUTTER

All cheesy rhymes aside, I truly love this disc.

I bought the prototype embossed star plastic pre-release originally for show. That did not last very long. I took this disc out for one round and fell in love. As my game has progressed, so has my appreciation for this wonderful disc.

To explain the best way to use this disc; THROW IT HARD. Anything, and everything I can put into a RHBH throw, this disc will take it, without hesitation. If I want a straight shot, with a reliable fade at the end of the flight, I can launch this disc close to full power and expect the same results each time. If I need a slow hyzer or a hefty fade to get around a corner, power down, and go to town (again, sorry for the rhymes, I get excited when I talk about discs). Even in a headwind, I can trust that this putter won't turn over.

The slot I fill with this disc is upshots and drives up to about 250' where I want consistent fade right at the end -- sometimes longer if I think I can reach the pin.

Disclaimer: My AviarX3 has a slight dimple top, and I have not seen any others like it. I also haven't I thrown any of the stock releases (not from lack of want, I just haven't bought one). I don't know if it has a major influence on the flight, or if any other AX3s are similar. I do know however that everyone should try this disc.

A beadless, flat top putter that works as a great utility throwing putter. The main difference that I noticed between the Aviar3 and the Aviarx3 is the amount of glide that the x3 has is noticeably smaller. It flies with great consistency. Excellent throwing and approach putter. Also used it for very windy putts.

The AviarX3 has been a fantastic addition to the bag. I originally got the AviarX3 to be a replacement for the slammer in my bag. I could not get the slammer to throw like I wanted, but I loved the flight characteristics that it had. After what felt like forever of searching for that replacement I finally found it. The AvaiarX3 has a great amount of overstability in a throwing putter, but what makes it stand apart from other overstable putters is how great the disc feels in the hand and how much more consistent the release is compared to others.

I know that the standard for overstable putters is the harp, but much like the slammer, I was never able to get over how the harp felt in my hand. I was unable to get a good feel for the harp and could not get a consistent release, something that has not happened with the AviarX3. Its got a great low profile but also a nice well rounded edge that makes for a very consistent release. I would definitely recommend this putter for anyone looking for a nice reliable driving putter

Finally the Innova harp beater is here. Beadless and shallower than a harp but very overstable. Great forehand and backhand approach disc and handles all the torque you need it too off the tee and still hyzer. Everyone should have one or more of this type of disc in their bag. Very useful.
