A great overstable fairway.  not quite firebird beef, but definately more than a thunderbird.  Great for headwinds and flex shots.  It also has a very cool feel in the hand to it.

I have a fondness for the firebird, as it was my first disc (sidearm player to start).  I do not like the predator for flicks.  I love it for backhand flex shots.

    Overall, a great mold.

This is my wind fighter it does its job well. When I first started using mine it was almost too beefy for me but now it shows a little turn before the huge fade.  I used to use a thunderbird as my primary wind disc, I still bag both but I get more distance from this disc with way more fade of course. As others stated great skipper as well

The Predator is the utility disc in my bag, it is a the perfect overstable disc you need to reach for when the conditions are really windy, you need a strong skip at the end of your shot, or just something you know is going to consistently fade back hard at the end of the shot. I also feel like this disc is easier to control new vs something like a firebird or felon. And once you beat the disc in a bit you can gain even more control. I've been using the same Predator for 10 years and it still has the consistent fade I'm looking for when the situation calls for it and is also the disc I reach for when I need to go over the top or a forehand roller.

This disc is for intermediate to advanced level players, beginners will be frustrated by this disc and develop bad habits when trying to control it.

174 Z Orange.  Overstable but Flexible Utility Driver.  This Z plastic may be a hybrid of some kind.  Its opaque and softer than normal Z with a pearly quality.  I like it a lot.

I feel like this disc is a tad faster with more glide than Discraft gives it credit for, making it a useful fairway driver for controlled hyzer shots that maybe you can't reach with something like a Raptor or Firebird.

The rim is not my favorite, but it is in my bag instead of an Anax due to the plastic being able to hold it's current condition and flight pattern and shows no signs of wearing out any time soon.  Also, this disc does things that a Raptor does not do, while still being stable enough to be used for the things that a Vulture will not do.

About the rim.  It has a nice sharp, fast outer rim which I like, but the inner rim is also very sharp, almost like a micro bead.  This ridge bites into the meaty part of my hand that takes the brunt of the friction generated when I grip it and flick it. This is far from ideal, however the rim is just shallow enough and sloped outward so I still get a clean forehand release.  For backhands, the rim is just fine, comfortable even.

What makes the Predator stand out to me is that it can flex and still fade hard every time.  It's more than just getting an 'S' curve.  Throwing over trees or up a hill, or a short upshot, sometimes you just need the disc to flex a little to hit the line you need, while still finishing with a hard, reliable fade or skip.  This is something that I have never seen the Raptor do.

I use the Raptor when I want zero turn, the Predator when I want a little.  This is not a beginner friendly disc, but makes a great first utility driver.

These things are great in terms of their flight and utility. However, it's akin to griping a knife blade. The outer rim edge and under rim edge are sharp, uncomfortably so. I believe the raptor was intended to fly serve a similar function and I have handled those and they are more comfortable but I can't say how they fly. I recommend firebirds or Infinite scepters in place of predators for sure.

I bought this disc looking for a RHFH driver, after doing some research. Add this review to the long list of positives! I’m crushing 300 feet average off the tee with predictable fade and skip/slide at the end.

No lie, I got my first ever ace within a week of receiving this disc. If you have a powerful forehand, it’s great! As an added bonus, it can be thrown overhand with good distance/stability as well.

This disc is amazing for forehand shots and hard spike hyzers.  It is not going to turn at all, but thrown with a little anny it will produce beautiful flex shots.  This is my go-to fairway driver.

The Predator is a fantastic disc. This was one of the first overstable fairway drivers I ever got and right from the start I just jived with it. First few throws with it either got close to the pin or hit metal from 150+ away. It has a bit more glide than the Firebird, but certainly is still stable. I feel the closest disc to this is my C-Line PD, which is in my bag

Break out your triangle laser pointer and start stalking through the woods clicking menacingly...this disc certainly is trophy worth!

All Predator references aside, this is a great disc. I had dyed an ESP Predator awhile back, and I happened to throw it in the bag for a round in 40+ mph winds at West Thompson for Team Challenge. It performs admirably in stupid wind when other things turn over, and as I have been working forehand into my game more and more the Predator has turned into a disc I bag full time. It even kicked my Proto Mantis' out of my bag! Thats saying something!

My predators are mostly flat with a that wonderful 9 speed rim that fits my hands so nicely. My ESP has a clean inner rim all around, while my Z has a textured cross etching pattern on an inch or two of the rim. That etching is nice for forehand flicks, and keeping a good grip on the disc in wet conditions where Z plastic can get a bit slick.

Predators are not particularly long drivers, but stay straight for about 85% of their flight, then they take a HARD dump and skip. My ESP is a tick more OS than my Z. Predators excel at flicks, flex shots, hyzers, and skip shots.

It will likely take awhile to beat mine into a more controllable driver, but I still like 'em a bit more hooky.

Reserving the last star to see how it continues to beat in!

The predator is my outright favorite discraft disc.  This is a super controllable fairway driver.  The Elite Z plastic starts out super overstable but eventually breaks in to perfection.  I use this disc for controlled forehands and long backhand hyzer shots.  Headwinds are absolutely no issue for this disc.  Depending on the course I am playing, I will bag 1-2 predators and leave my firebirds at home.  I find the predator to be more controllable in flight, but has less skip.

my favorite disc in the whole world.  i can do so much with it. i bag 3 all in z plastic.  when you first get the disc it will be super overstable but beat it in and to turns into the best control disc.  it takes so long to brake in but its worth it.  i see why nate doss loves them. also the crystal flx le predator is the most overstable version

My absolute favorite disc. Super beefy, this disc is able to take all of my power. The Z Pred is one of the discs that I cannot turn over (the other being the Nuke OS). I can get some pretty huge distance with a nice flex shot, or throw an absolute lazer beam with nice left fade. The fade is very predictable, making this a fantastic headwind disc. Perfect for forehand throws too! My longest forehand disc and by far the most controlable. A must have for any bag!

I have the elite z plastic but its not listed. I love this disk when plying in the woods, I call it the tree trimmer. this is a rock solid disk that can slide through some of the smallest holes, and recovers well from hitting a tree and will also cut through small branches. perfectly straight flight with a small turn at the end

The predator is my go to disc on all shots but headwind over 10mph. This disc just goes forever with little effort. I throw thi disc Right Hand Side Arm and when I hear that snap I know it's going go at least 300 to 350 easily for me. Ive thrown faster discs but don't get the distance I do with this disc. I can not throw well into a headwind with it. I need something with a sharper nose to it like a Crush.

I didn't think I had the arm for this disc but once I picked up a lighter weight in Z plastic I've been pleasantly suprised. The Predator is the best wind disc on the market. I even find myself pulling it out for routine shots off the tee as well. This disc will always come back no matter how much you turn it over.

A very stable disc for intense headwinds, skip shots, flex shots, and spike hyzers. This disc WILL fade. Predictable. Not for beginners. Similar to an Innova Firebird, however, a Predator goes tends to go further. I enjoy that it is a slow, overstable disc with a small rim; no fatty 13-speed rim here. Recommend Z. ESP Flex is good if you don't want it to skip. Wear in well for distance shots. Most stabled disc I carry.
