The Stag is an overstable fairway driver in the Westside line. This disc is excellent for controlled fairway drives for both backhand and forehand throws. The Stag isn’t the fastest disc (speed 8), but has a very comfortable, moderate rim of 1.9cm and gets the distance with impressive glide.

I'm in love!!! I got 2 of the VIP-X skull stamped ones. Which just makes me smile every time I look at it. What makes me even more happy is watching the flight!

It's like a Sidewinder and TL had a baby but in juicy sweeter grippy Swedish plastic. Thrown on a slight hyzer I get a perfect flip up and a 350 foot flight to a soft fade. Thrown flat it will turn a bit and end up dead center from release point after a soft ending fade.

    Amazing disc, 5 stars!

My review is specifically for the Happy Skull VIP-X run of Stags. From what I understand this run is more stable than most stag runs.

The Stag seems to be a polarizing driver, and I think I understand why. It's listed as an overstable fairway driver, which to some degree is fair, however, it does have more turn than its numbers imply. It does have enough stability that I think calling it a stable to slightly over stable disc would be fair, but the disc is just not advertised in a way that is conducive to its strengths.

Where this disc truly shines is being used as a flippy utility driver, and in that I believe this disc is very undervalued and overlooked. While high glide on a flippy disc can result in erratic flights, thankfully, the stag manages to not make itself a liability. Long sustained flights with controllable lines is this disc's bread and butter. The VIP-X stag when thrown on even a slight hyzer will immediately pop up straight and fly considerably far on a tight line before gently fading out. While other plastic runs may not be quite as torque resistant, VIP-X managed to be a surprisingly decent forehand thrower. A standstill hyzer shot feels surprisingly comfortable and controllable. While powered down flat releases can result in some nice S shaped flights with reasonable distance, its flippy nature makes it a risk to turn over if thrown with too much power. On that note anhyzer flights really carry, and will really only ever so slightly fight out of the line before going a considerable distance in the direction turned towards. While stable-ish, the underreported turn this disc sports does not make for a disc I would trust in a headwind.

While it probably will never be a first choice fairway for most players, this disc has a niche. A flippy, but highly controllable fairway driver that will hold onto whatever line you put it on and get considerable distance thanks to a generous amount of glide.
