The Fortress combines speed, control, and stability. It is designed to be the workhorse for long fairway drives, hyzers and flex shots. It is guaranteed that wind will not conquer your Fortress, as the disc's stability will fight through head winds with respectable power.

Not quite as beefy as a raptor/felon/firebird what have you. Its definitely an overstable disc but it is not unmanageable for my intermediate arm and I can push it straight for a good distance longer than the raptor or firebird before the fade kicks in. For me, Its almost a guaranteed 350ft disc flat, hyzer or anhyzer flex. Bigger arms probably get a nice distance straight disc., Intermediate players get a very workable OS driver. Very reliable disc in the wind, great for both fh and bh. Flat and wide-ish rimmed make for some good low skip shots too.

This is a beefy disc. This is the wind fighting stronger BIG brother to Dynamic Discs' Felon (or very over stable Innova Firebird) with slightly more glide/distance to it. I can really torque on it with my forehand and it just goes dead straight before fading hard; even on an anhyzer release it immediately fights to flat before eventually fading out. This a recent add to my bag so I haven't beat it in much yet, but I don't see this losing any stability with heavy use.

super overstable disc that is very much a specialty disc. can't get much more than 250 out of this disc before it lands from burning out. will never turn over on you and can trust the fade. I made the mistake of buying this when I already had a disc that was too similar. still, a great disc if you need a special forehand and don't have another like it. like a slower reaching firebird.

I love my Trilogy Challenge stamped Elasto Sampos, and when I only threw discs speed 10 or slower I absolutely loved this disc as a more overstable complement to those discs if there was a fierce headwind or needed to stay left since it feels like a Sampo with a slightly higher parting line and more overstable flight. Flies true to the numbers and is a great disc, but I don't bag one anymore because I started using faster drivers that can fill this same slot for me; but still an amazing disc!

I currently have both Tournament and VIP plastic molds in my bag. I utilize the Westside Fortress as a Control Driver, mainly as my go-to forehand driver. The rim is extremely comfortable, the disc has relatively no dome to it but isn't flat either. The Fortress, from feel alone, exudes speed and stability. You just know that it will fly straight and fast, for a 10-speed. I only throw the Fortress for forehand drives, but I do throw it off the tee for backhand drives 380-400 feet. My Tournament plastic goes extremely straight with reliable fade (both RHFH & RHBH) and the VIP fades slightly harder with less turnover. If you need an ultimate reliale forehand driver or a driver that you know will go straight without turning over and without a ton of skip to stay on a tight fairway, choose a Westside Fortress.

I find this disc to fly like a fast Hornet. It's overstable with a flying fade rather than a plopping fade.  It will not turn over from wind or speed. So when thrown flat and hard, it flies straight and fades strong in flight. every time, wind or no wind.

That said, when I turn this with release angle, it will hold the line for a while, which makes it more versatile than some beefy drivers for longer flex shots and such. But I have to be careful becuase, though it's fade and stability are strong, it is liable to hold an anny line longer than I think it will or should, and this is especially true in a headwind- perhaps from the great glide.

speaking of glide, this thing gets farther down the fairway than I expect it can or will. The stability gives me the impression it will die sooner, but it gets out there almost as well as less stable discs- and does it without any turn at all.

I have a Force that hooks up much harder, which I use almost exclusively for utility and around-the-corner shots. This disc could to that but doesn't hook up as early or as hard, due to the glide, I presume. So it's easier OS distance than most of the others like Force, X2, etc.

The fortress is a great stable/overstable control driver to add to your bag. It eats up headwinds like nobody’s business. Depending on the plastic choice, you can get one that is crazy avertable (similar to a criminal) or stable with a healthy fade at the end. I really like using this disc for flex backhand shots where I can depend on the fade kicking in at the end. When it beats in, you’ll start seeing more turn out of this disc while maintaining the fade. The disc is listed as a glide of 4, but the turn really gives it a lot of carry through the air. I am really surprised how far this disc can go while still being so stable!

I think this is a disc a lot of people have been waiting for in the Westside lineup, and it doesn't let you down. This truly is an overstable driver, more overstable than the long bowman. For me, it goes straight for just a bit before fading for the rest of it's flight path. It's great to get around obstacles or have some big spike hyzer shots.

Big arms will like this disc for it's stability and predictability. While I could never get it very far, it was reliable in it's fade. The wind won't mess with this. I can't flick, but I think it would be a great flick disc. It sort of reminds me of a Felon. Give it a shot, it feels great!

The Fortress is a fabulous disk for strong arms, forehand shots, and fighting the wind.

The Fortress is not domey or flat, not too deep or too shallow.  The 10/4/0/3 rating is spot on.  For me it is that Goldilocks disk that is equally comfortable forehand or backhand.  It does not flex much or at all under most conditions, but does not fade as sharply as a Felon or Firebird.

Neither a 400' arm nor a 30 MPH headwind will turn over a VIP Fortress, while a Tournament plastic Fortress will flex slightly under these conditions.  Both provide incredible control and reliable distance, at least for advanced throwers.

I break these out for the situations when I need more distance than a Felon will give me, but more control than an Enforcer.  The Fortress is beefier, flatter, and shallower with slightly wider rim than a Getaway.  It feels very similar to a Culverin in depth and lack of dome, but is also beefier with a slightly wider rim.  This is the disc I would recommend to an Innova thrower to replace his or her 4x Champ Thunderbird or to a Discmania thrower to replace a PD.

While the Fortress won't be the go to distance driver for a newbie, it would function well as someone's first forehand or over-stable utility driver.  By the time you start consistently throwing 325'+ the Fortress will be nicely seasoned for when, that one windy day, you break it out for a backhand headwind shot on a long, narrow fairway and realize what kind of gem you've been sitting on the whole time.

    SNEAKY DISTANCE AND STABILITY.

This disc has an ability to make you forget it is in the bag. You can have very aggressive wind and techy shot. Break out a Fortress. You can shape shots with these in wind. One of these in VIP does not like to flip. They're beefy and straight. Right in between a Culverin and Ahti. Not a full blown Ahti skip at the end. It holds and fades in the solid wind. I would not say these are designed for max distance, but they do go super far. And again, these hold in wind. Such a massively underrated disc.

    I picked up a white-ish VIP, ~168g.

It's very high speed overstable, but fades with enough speed to give you good skips.  It's not going to knife into the ground with 350+ feet of power, and will give you nice right to left with a skip on flat ground, which gets you well left on doglegs with big feet.

The speed 10 rim is perfect for when I want a very controlled shot, but I need some distance before the fade.

That's where this disc distinguishes itself from the Felons, Ahtis and Firebirds - with 350+ power it has better distance, which helps you hit narrow gaps and still bomb down the fairway with a left finish.

Given the speed and overstability of this disc, I wouldnt recommend this to beginners.  For fun beginner discs, look elsewhere.

I got the chance to try out a 172 gram VIP Westside Fortress the other day. Already, there is a lot of hype around this disc, and I would say it is pretty well deserved. This disc slides into a very nice spot in Westside's strong driver lineup. I'd say it is definitely the most overstable of their drivers that is below an 11 speed. In a lot of ways, I'd say the Fortress is a more overstable Boatman in flight, which if you have thrown a Boatman, should give you some idea.

The Fortress is a meathook. Right out of the hand it wants to start fading. But it seems to just sit on the line between utility disc and throwing disc. Unlike the Boatman that will hold straight and then finish with a very dumpy fade, the Fortress for me will fight for distance while always moving to the right (or left, depending on how it is thrown).

In the same line of thought for comparing it to a Boatman, the rim is a lot better on the Fortress. It fits very well in the hand, and is a comfortable rim width that will fit well in all hands.

So if you are looking for an ultra-overstable 10 speed driver to add to the bag, I'd recommend trying out the Westside Fortress!

I picked up a near max weight (173+) VIP and TP Fortress right when they came out and ended up really liking both of them. I think the Fortress is a fantastic mold, especially to add to the Westside (and all of Trilogy) lineup. Trilogy seems to be really responding to feedback; producing discs like the Criminal, Ahti, Fortress, and River Pro (Trilogy Challenge driver). All of these discs are fairly stable and in the control driver, to lower speed distance driver category.

The Fortress is a very strait, stable disc. It has a great feel in the hand, with a slight dome to it. On my more powerful shots it would go very strait with a really nice skippy finish. It flattens out of anhyzers very quickly, and is great for strait hyzer lines. I was throwing it at a higher elevation, around 4,500 feet, so I'm excited to try it out closer to sea level.

Overall I think I liked the TP version a little better because it seemed to have a more "glidey" flight. Both feel and fly great, and will probably end up keeping both in my bag, as they compliment one another and I'm curious to see how both plastics beat in.

If you have been looking for a stable, lower speed distance driver from Trilogy, you must try the Fortress. It's less stable than a Criminal, but still has a ton of stability and feels awesome. I'm excited to see how the Ahti will compare. Kudos to Trilogy for responding to its consumers/fans and producing so many discs where they seemed to have a few gaps before.

176 VIP WHITE. This is disc is amazing. For me it goes 300-320 straight as an arrow followed by a dependable fade. The wind doesnt mess with this disc i will agree with others. Highly recommend, I have the longbowman and that this disc seems to fly out of my hands twice as fast as the bowman. A+ was waiting on this disc and it definitely didn't disappoint. Don't let the speed 10 fool you , crank this b

One thing that I have noticed about Westside Discs is that their flight ratings are not exactly consistent across all disc models. However, after throwing around a VIP Fortress, I've decided that the numbers are accurate on this one. It is rated as "0 turn" and "3 fade" and as a "Speed 10" distance driver. Even throwing this disc with power, it wants to fade before too long. In fact, getting it not to fade is a fairly tough challenge.

When I tested the Fortress into a head wind, it fought the wind with a lot of power and stayed straight longer before eventually fading.

I would say that the Fortress is a very good disc for head winds, or for powerful forehand throwers. As a backhand disc, it will present some challenges unless you're wanting it as a utility disc to carve a path around obstacles. I wouldn't recommend it as a distance drivers for beginners or weaker arms, because it would be hard to get any real distance with the Fortress without having some throwing experience.
