The Fortress combines speed, control, and stability. It is designed to be the workhorse for long fairway drives, hyzers and flex shots. It is guaranteed that wind will not conquer your Fortress, as the disc's stability will fight through head winds with respectable power.

I don't think the Fortress gets enough credit by a long shot. To me, the 4 glide just doesn't fit. I've thrown a lot of Destroyers in my time playing, and think that the Fortress is really just like it, though the 10 speed is appropriate. Out of the box, the Fortress definitely needs some muscle behind it to get going, but once it beats in a little bit they really start taking off. I now bag three of these bad boys in various conditions of beaten in. They make for a great overstable forehand roller when they're brand new, and that gets them to beat in to their prime air shot potential after some rounds. My first Fortress is now pretty flippy from carrying the load as my workhorse driver, and now it's just perfect for whatever I need it to do, and definitely has enough glide to make for interesting, long-range anhyzers thrown high and steep to let it drift towards the basket. I think this is Westside's best disc (except maybe the Harp) and if you're looking for a nice overstable driver for forehand, this is the one I'd recommend to just about anyone.

I have been playing disc golf for a year now, doing field work each day when possible. I currently throw 300': a little more or less depending on conditions and snack food.  I do not throw anything faster than speed 10.  My Fortress is 174 gram tournament plastic.  I like this disc for flex shots, high hyzers, and very controllable drives.  It has some skip to it, but not as much as say a Defender.  In a very strong headwind, it becomes very straight so It won't necessarily come back very much left.  In a strong headwind (25+), I tend to use it as a straight shot and it has never failed.  I team this with my 150 gram PD and have overstable covered.  This disc is very comfortable to throw and will easy to hit about any  line I need.

The Fortress is underrated while being solid, but unspectacular (coming from someone who's lone ace to this point is with a Fortress). It just doesn't do anything fantastically, in my opinion. I picked up some Fortresses after playing a windy round in which my Flows were turning over and realizing that the only overstable driver I had in my bag was a Criminal. At that point, I was running a Convict - Fortress - Criminal stable-overstable fairway lineup, but the Getaway knocked out my Convict soon after, and then I realized that if I put my Biofuzion Criminal back in my bag to go with the Getaway, the Fortress slot would be covered because of the Getaway's incredible glide and added versatility. The Fortress would be a great first overstable driver for someone moving up to higher speed fairways not wanting Felon or Criminal stability, but I would still recommend the Getaway before the Fortress. However, I will ALWAYS have some love for the Fortress for my first ace!

westsides version of a firebird. a little more dome than the innova firebird in my opinion but flies all the same to me. a nice disc with a tough and durable plastic.

This is my favorite fairway driver currently, with a combination of glide and stability that is unparalleled. In the tournament plastic you can expect a dependable fade even as the disc gets beat in. After a while it will hold a flex line for much further than I thought it would.

Great disk for a variety of uses once you get used to the flight pattern. It has a very dependable fade. It can cover some distance accurately even when you get some power behind it. Its lack of fade is a great thing for me because I will fight the wind with drives with this thing. One of my favorite disks of all time. Its also amazing for those closer driving holes that require a very accurate throw. Got an ace using the disk my 6th time ever. Highly recommended to pretty much all players except total beginners.

This is a great overstable controllable driver. I throw my fortress for spike hyzers and shots that I want to carry straight with great finish at the end. It's like a more overstable thunderbird, but a less stable firebird. I can get these out to about 350' with a flat release and the get some nice ground play when they land.

Immediately after receiving this disc from Westside, it became a favorite. I personally think it was the best "Trilogy" release of 2017 and use it heavily in almost every round.

I most often play at 4,500' elevation where discs are more over stable but this thing would be consistent at any elevation. It's a great wind fighter for it's speed and gets sneaky distance given the 4 glide rating. It can be used for straight to reliable left finishing shots, forced over flex shots that still come out and spike hyzers that won't jump like crazy.

VIP plastic is certainly more over stable than TP plastic in this particular mold, so I bag both for varying purposes. When the TP wears in, it becomes incredibly straight but turn resistent and has a forward fade than finishes nicely.

If you're like me and absolutely loved the old run Boatman but have a hard time finding them...this is the perfect replacement disc! It may not be the best disc for beginners, except for an over stable utility type shot but will be great for players with bigger arms.

The Fortress is an amazing driver! Easily the best driver released in 2017. I compare it to the Felon and Firebird, just a hair faster. Also a true wind fighter. No matter what I throw this in, I can always count on a solid finish at the end. If you like the Felon or Firebird, you'll love the Fortress.

The fortress is an overstable disc that is in that 10 speed range that is at the top end of the control driver, and just short of a true distance driver. I spent some time in the field with it today and here is what I found.

The fortress out of the box is rather beefy. It definitely likes to fade pretty hard, which makes it not ideal for newer arms. With some good snap, the disc will ride straight then dump hard. If you put a bit of anhyzer on it it will hold the turn for a very short distance (to bend around a tree quick in flight) but will fight to pull out of that turn quickly. It flies like a fresh overstable PD.

Where I found the Fortress to shine is the placement hyzer shots. I was able to really place my hyzers with confidence and accuracy in a variety of distances. It has the right speed for distance hyzer bombs, and lacks the glide that can carry them too far off target. It gets down quick.

I'd imagine the VIP version is significantly more beefy. In my experience I've found that TP is less stable and more glidy with VIP being beefier and less glide.

It's a swell disc I can see people really enjoying, and I'm sure it beats into a nice control driver that's more workable, but it's not kicking anything out of my bag.

Great compliment to the Culverin! A touch of overstability right out of the box, but not too much to handle if you're throwing 350-400. This thing will hold the release angle and speed down the fairway with a reliable fade at the end. Good for wind when you're still needing some distance and accuracy. Similar to the Orc of recent, or a tad faster PD.

    PD Killer!!!

okay, so its no secret Im a huge fan of Westside. Their mids, putters and fairways just never clicked with me, though. Ive been a fan of their distance drivers for a long time, though. I currently bag Giants and Swords.

When I heard about the Fortress, I knew I had to try it. Ive been bagging Discmania PDs as my control driver for years, but the huge variance in runs and plastics has made it unreliable in my eyes. The Fortress is like a Godsend...better feeling and better flying than the PD! The Fortress rim is a slight amount wider, making it a faster disc. However, the rim feeling and mild rise on the shoulder make it more comfortable than the Firebird rim of the PD. The Fortress zips out of the hand on a good pull, and it can handle power both forehand and backhand. I got a VIP and a TP,and they compliment each other nicely. Fresh, the flight isnt too much different but the experienced thrower will notice the TP has less high speed stability and more glide.

The Fortress does straight to fade remarkably well. It can also do booming S-Curves and I was pushing it out to near 400 pretty easily. On forehands, I wasnt getting much more than a wiggle out of the VIP, while the TP had some turn but never flipped. Power anhyzers were okay, but the Fortress really wants to fight out of it. I think that shot will get easier as the TP beats in, but I dont see the VIP ever holding an anny to the ground. The Fortress also works pretty good for thumbers, but the Firebird works better for me.

All-in-all, the Fortress met my expectations and exceeded them in most cases. The PDs are out, and the Fortress is now in the bag!

172 Tournament. This disc is something that trilogy has been missing in all of their lineups. A cross over driver that any skill level can use. For advance players, it can be stable when needed or put an anny release and get distance out of it. My max drives push around 500 ft. and I could put the Fortress 350 flat release and 400 with an anny. Definitely tournament plastic for slower arms or even if you want more then just a pretty overstable disc. Good compliment to an Escape or Convict.
