When a disc is very good, we golfers tend to assign the disc to an arbitrarily appointed mold generally considered to be quite good. If it's a good Midrange, it's Buzzz level good. A good fairway driver is hitting Explorer levels of quality, and a great putter would be considered on par with the Judge. For the big guns, Viking has put out some exceptional products. I was very impressed with the rest of the Viking drivers, all of which I own with the exception of the two new pending to be released and the Cosmos. Thunder God Thor is a masterpiece, the Berserker slides in the utility slot perfectly, and the Ragnarok is one of the most shockingly well rounded discs I've ever thrown.Their first venture into the 12 speed market is different, though. Like I was saying, discs tend to be compared to a bit of a hallmark in the range of speed they occupy. About that; the Viking Discs Valhalla is not the new Innova Destroyer. The Innova Destroyer is an old Viking Discs Valhalla. I somewhat regret being as keen on Viking Discs as I've been, and I'll tell you why. The day I was worried about experiencing has finally dawned on me. The day I found a disc so unbelievably good that all of the kind words and (possibly) hyperbole that I'd deployed and perhaps considered saving for such an occasion were already used. There almost aren't any words for it at all, the first time you throw it. Whereas the Thunder God Thor, Valhalla, Barbarian, and Nordic Warrior all more or less have the same flight characteristics, you get the feeling that this flight suits this speed of disc the best. That should absolutely not be interpreted as a strike against the other molds, It just seems as though a two over stable mark is just perfect for this speed. The biggest reason I hold it in such high regard is for one reason, mainly, that being consistency. If you were to take a Prodigy X1, which is a great disc, you would find it consistent. However, you simply couldn't find the same distance with that massive dose of 5 over stability. If you threw a Westside Queen, you might be able to get some ludicrous distance out of the disc, but under stable discs to have a penchant for turning over to unbelievably different degrees. In other words, most under stable high speed distance drivers generally won't be what you might consider to be consistent. There is a line to toe, then, for manufacturers. The absolute joy I've found in the Valhalla is that it IS the line. You can shape shots, from wide anhyzers to sweeping hyzer curves. I forgot which disc it was that also appeared to be extremely forgiving in terms of shot shaping, almost as though it was reading your mind. I have to say, this driver is extremely similar in that regard. In the hand it feels great, perfectly comfortable in the beautiful and seemingly indestructible Armor plastic. This driver is absolutely perfect in every manner I can think of.
PROS: The best 12 speed distance driver there has ever been, and will ever be. This is it, lads. Well done Viking. Well done.
CONS: I feel bad even having to tell you all there aren't any.
