The Viking Discs Rune is a low-profile putt & approach disc with a perfectly straight flight. This putter is beaded, which helps it maintain stability with wear over time. The Rune is great for putting and has an easy to predict flight path.

This was one of my first discs ever and it's one of my favorite putters I have owned. I have a max weight in storm plastic and for a beginner it will be stable, as I was able to throw flex backhand shots with it when I first started. With that being said, this is one of the farthest flying putters in my humble opinion. It has a noticeable bead, but this doesn't sacrifice comfort fangrip or powergrip. I still bag one after two years and right now it is dead straight when thrown full power for me. All I can say is that it is a very reliable throwing putter and in storm plastic it holds up in terms of stability throughout the years. I would definitely recommend to try one because the value for the price is outstanding.

176 gram Viking Rune in Storm plastic. After beating in a Electron Proxy to the point where I no longer got the lovely straight flight it previously provided, I tried a Viking Rune as a cheaper replacement. Although Storm plastic was attractive and seemed durable, I was unimpressed with the disc. There is nothing inherently wrong with the Rune but, like the other Viking disc I have thrown (Cosmos in Ground plastic), the flight numbers led to unrealistic expectations. The Rune wanted to turn right no matter how much I backed down on the power. And I am a beginner still working on effectively transferring power into my throws, so its not like I was overpowering this thing with a 500 foot cannon of an arm or anything. If you want an under stable putter/approach disc that will turn right then this could be what you are looking for. But for me, I did not get the advertised straight flight I was hoping for.

This seems to me to be spot on with its flight numbers: When thrown for distance, it goes straight and glides well. Even into the wind it didn't turn over much at all, just kept a level flight gradually moving a bit to the right (RHBH). I pretty consistently got farther with the Rune than with its faster midgrade siblings the Axe or Warrior since they are overstable enough to fade out left before getting the same kind of distance (though those flights also have their timely usefulness). As one would expect, it works great for putting, too. Everyone has their preferences regarding the feel of a disc, but I think anyone would find that this feels good in the hand and releases cleanly. Part of that is due to the Storm plastic itself, I think. I've got almost a full set of Viking discs in Storm plastic and have been very pleased with the feel, release, appearance, and durability of it.

This is The putter.  If Simon Lizotte played for Viking, he would rave about this putter the way he did about the P1x (he called it P1 Ace) before he went gyro.  And as far as I can tell, it's the closest thing out there to the old P1x.  Numbers are very accurate, 2/4/0/0, and make it the most useful kind of putter.  Good glide, but not so much that you go way long on misses, dead straight, flies like and goes where you throw it.  Putts pretty comparably in all plastics, and is often available on the sister site DDG in putter packs in the ground plastic, great for practice.  Thrown hard has a bit of turn at the beginning of the flight and little fade.  A little hyzer flips up and gives you a controllable approach shot, again with minimal fade.  With a touch of annie it will hold the slow turn for a while (but too much and it rolls).  All in all a great putter at a reasonable price, one that you can grow with and shave strokes off your score as you master it.  Your putter is the most important disc in your bag, so get that dialed in before you worry about anything else.

A Ground plastic Rune is my favorite putter. Now, sorry Rhino, I think my new favorite thrower is a Rune in Storm plastic. It's thick and domey compared to Ground. It fills my hand and my confidence for approach shots. So much fade. Like a fade of 3 when new. Great feel. Im glad I bought two!

My congratulations to the Dynamic Judge, Innova Aviar, and Discraft Luna. You held on tight for a while there, but it's over. That's okay. Every putter has its fifteen minutes and you lot got lucky, but step aside or be invaded by strapped dudes who dig that spiked mead. What a brilliant putter the Viking Rune is. While big companies do their best to reinvent the wheel, often it seems they just fall asleep at it. Viking saw the opportunity here and kept it simple, and I've never been more excited for something so relatively boring. It's what you always thought a putter would be. It's like how you would picture your dream house, waking up on a Sunday morning with no one to answer to. This is what you thought a disc golf putter was going to be. It's not going to blow your mind, but its also never going to let you down. You do need to have a bit of a Calving Heimburg release, lots of snap to really get the circles edge putts a good chance with this putter, for reasons not currently understood. Other than that, its a minor gripe, and might improve your putting as a result. I have never thrown a drive with this putter, and can't see myself doing that. I would consider the Loki or Knife for that, but I'm sure as an approach disc she may do pretty well.

PROS: Dream case scenario putter in every conceivable way.

CONS: Not currently in every disc golfers bag when it clearly deserves to be.

I have this disc in Ground and Storm plastic.

This disc has become my Go To putter, previously Westside Crown, absolute point and shoot type putter with an ever so slight fade.

I use the Ground Plastic to putt with, and the Storm Plastic to throw... but the Storm plastic seems to shoot out of my hand really well while the ground plastic can be grippy.

I am a huge fan of the Viking Disc putters.

This is a great disc. I got this in 173g storm and it is very true to its numbers, which is a little out of the norm with the brand, they usually run more understable than the numbers indicate. There is absolutely no fade when thrown flat. You can choose to fade left or right depending on release angle.

If you are not a fan of beaded putters, but want the same flight, I found the hunter by legacy to be it's beadless twin.

I am new to Disc Golf and have been playing for about a month now. I received my 2 Storm Rune discs on Friday and was able to do some field testing over the weekend... they are amazing discs!

I was able to place them within 2' of my target that was 220' out at a fairly consistent basis. I was test throwing with a flat backhand and the release felt great.

I also played a putter only 9 hole round yesterday and was very happy with being able to place the disc where it was supposed to go (when I threw it correctly)! Even on the bad throws it went right where I expected it to go. I will definitely get more Viking discs!

    Great Discs!!!
