I tried these after using Judges for a long time. After trying one I immediately bought a 10 pack! They fly straight, ground plastic is grippy and soft but not too soft.

If you think judges are a touch too deep grab these!

I love the feel of this plastic, it's a little soft, but not floppy. The bead is well positioned and not too thick. Flies straight!

As a newer player this is the best putting putter I've used. It's very easy to putt this disc flat and keep it straight and having the bead makes it feel more comfortable for me. The ground plastic is soft but the disc is still firm. 5star disc for me. Will be ordering more of these. Only sad part is there aren't very many color options left for the 172g.

I love this disc. I recently found a beaded putter (un-inked) and fell in love with the feel .So I did some research and landed on the ground Rune. The plastic is ideal for me, extremly grippy and the feel is what I was looking for. Ground plastic seems to be holding up pretty well I am curious to see how long it takes to really ware out. I am considering getting the Armor Rune now to soley throw.

After switching putters 20 times in 2 years, I've finally found the putter for me. The rune is a somewhat shallow beaded putter. If the Wizard and the Judge had a baby, the Rune is it. The ground plastic is very grippy in all weather conditions (I play in the winter a lot), but it does beat in very quickly. I would not recommend throwing these off the tee if you also plan to putt with them.

Brand new these will have a touch of fade, but they will quickly become dead straight when thrown up to 300 ft. Once beat in for a bit they will flip and hold turn the entire flight.

One of the best putters i use... Ground plastic feels great and took my putting game to the next level. I've been playing for 5 month and using this disc gave me confidence to hit 20 to 30 ft putts.

This disc feels great in ground plastic and flys even better. I only putt with the ground plastic version of this disc but like throwing midrange shots with this disc in armor plastic. Midrange shots fly straight and glide well. Putts feel great. The disc is just very comfortable to hold and releases well. I normally don't like beaded putters but this is the exception. Doesn't hurt that this putter is dirt cheap in ground plastic. Love this disc.

The rune is a must have in your bag. I will say, the 0 fade should be a 1 or 1.5 in my opinion. The rim depth makes this a very nice off the tee putter. I even use it for some FH approach shots. It honestly feels like a smaller diameter zone but in a mid range kinda way. That makes sense right? The ground plastic is awesome for this disc. Feels gummy but also slick. Aside from the fade being more than a 0 like it says, this putter is great. And the design is so clean. Gotta get yourself a black one. So nice.

I got this putter in a pack of ten, in order to work on my putting. I do like this plastic, but there is something about this disc that has made it very hard to be consistent. I also have some Streamline Stabilizers, some Innova Aviars, and Latitude 64 putters, and usually those discs feel similar from throw to throw. It could just be that I am used to slightly more stability from my putters, but I am not as confident when I throw this one.

I do still keep one in my main bag for if I have a sketchy approach and I want the disc to just sit down when it hits the ground. The Rune is a solid option, but I don't think it will ever be a go-to for me personally.

I love this disc for putting. It goes exactly where I want it to go. It's great for putting inside circle one. Outside of it, I will depend on another disc depending on wind.

It's a very comfortable disc in hand and the ground plastic is great!

This putter is an instant favorite.  It has no unusual shapes or has any odd characteristics.  It just flies straight. It is similar to many other molds out there but, the plastic is what I really like. It is soft and grippy yet stiff enough to handle some power. Kind of like X blend/line. Ready to go out of the box. My first round with it was in the rain and loved the grip.

I was hesitant at first to branch out from some of the more well established brands when spending money on discs, but I saw several high rated reviews for the rune and decided it was worth the $8 to try out the disc.  I own the Rune in ground plastic and it has easily been one of my favorite putters to throw.  It feels good in the hand and holds lines well.  It has a fair amount of glide, making it a solid option for upshots and even drives on short holes.  It is capable to shape shots with but isn't overstable enough to fight out of some release angles.  Great for learning how to throw.

One thing to note, the ground plastic is not very durable.  Hitting trees will quickly shorten the discs life.  Don't recommend this for any wooded courses unless your accuracy is insanely good.  It can warp or get nicks in the plastic just from hitting obstacles.  Probably is worth some extra money to get higher grade plastic.  The ground plastic feels great if you are using this as a putting putter, but any other throws should stick to open shots so you don't destroy your disc faster.

I bought the 10 pack of these bad boys so I could practice putting. I have only 1 day of use so far and all has been in my backyard so I have yet to use it but only a couple feet outside C1. As far as just putting, it is absolutely amazing and true to the numbers. If I miss with this putter, it was clearly my fault. Our practice basket sits close to a first pole for our porch roof with our last 2 posts at 14 and 22 ft from basket and a concrete slab entrance to our workshop is roughly 35 ft away. I could tell when i didn't putt right, nose down or bad flick or release, but when executed properly it flew straight and true.

Love the feel of the base plastic and have already raved about it in my other viking disc reviews. May head to a full compliment of viking discs just because I like the first few I bought so much.

I grabbed a Rune in the ground plastic with the crazy Cthulu stamp. It is my go to putter. Perfect fit in the hand and ground plastic feels wonderful. Super flat and feels similar to my Axiom Envy Electron Soft, but with a slight bead. The course we play the most often is very wooded. This disc gives me a lot of confidence for shots off the tee, tight tunnels or putting with some obstructions (those tiny damn saplings everywhere).

I received the rune from the Viking discs starter pack. I have seen other reviews and websites comparing Viking's Ground plastic to Innova's DX plastic, however, I find it to feel more durable.

I primarily use the Rune as a putting putter for longer putts, as well as obstructed putts. I find it very easy to will this disc around trees and other obstructions, and even if it does not go in the basket I find myself with a very makable unobstructed putt. I would be more inclined to use the Rune as a throwing/ approach putter if it were not for the bead on the putter (which I should say I like for use when putting, just not throwing), and the fact that the Rune that I got is black, and I am colorblind. I am too afraid to possibly lose the disc when trying to find it after a throw, although if I do throw it, I usually catch the glimmer of the gold foil.

This is an excellent putter, and I feel I covered the pros to this disc well enough in my earlier review of the same mold in Storm plastic. The differences between the two immediately make themselves known. Whereas the Storm Rune has the largest dome on any of my discs from Viking, the Ground Rune's has an entirely flat top. Seriously, if you scratched the stamps off I wouldn't believe you if you said you thought they were, technically, the same mold. For all of the grief my friends give me for how different these discs are, that's not a new thing with different plastics and discs. Tell me, would you be able to tell the identifier a 167 gram DX apart from a 171 Star Destroyer? I honestly don't think so, Unless you're Ricky Wysocki, maybe. I digress. The Ground plastic, for what it's worth, is better suited than the Storm plastic for this mold. It holds my personal best record for longest putt (50 Feet!), and fits the hand like a glove. The feel of the plastic is awful similar to the YETI PRO that was made for the Aviar. If you're a putting enthusiast, give it a shot. I think you may well love it.

PROS: This is the best putter in the best plastic. Worth the buy.

CONS: Not really anything to offer in terms of completing actual throws you may need to make with the disc.

In ground plastic, this is a very neutral flying and dead straight putter good for just about everybody. Warpaint/Armor is a much different story, but this is for Ground plastic.

I have 3 Runes in white Ground plastic (172g each) and they all fly exactly the same. Very nice and flat, with a pretty shallow rim and just a teeny microbead. I've been putting with these exact 3 discs for nearly a year and while they look pretty dirty and gross, the surface itself is only barely nicked.

These don't like to be push putt. They will flutter without the torque to keep them straight. If you want to learn how to spin putt, these putters will help significantly. I like to spin them with just the slightest bit of hyzer within circle one and they just hold it and fly dead straight right into the chains. Ground plastic is rubbery on the outside, though still quite firm, and it is easily gripped in the cold or the wet. If putting with anhyzer from long circle two, they will ride the line and then end up just landing softly and flat. Some more overstable putters will return to center and hyzer back with a mild "s" but these do a sort of lazy "c" flight because they just land flat.

Thrown with power, they will turn over and hold that line. They don't exactly "dump" and try to cut roll. Thrown on hyzer they will flip up flat and stay flat all the way until they gracefully fall back to the ground. Very glidey. Great beginner's throwing putter and it's something totally different than what everyone else will have on the course.

My only gripe with these is that they do very poorly in a headwind. Headwind putts lift these significantly higher than most other putters I've used. It's manageable but not preferred. Putting with hyzer helps but it's enough of a gripe to knock off a star. But seriously for about 8 bucks it's 100% worth it.

In Ground Plastic, the Rune has quickly become one of my favorite putters. Inside of C2, I absolutely love the Rune for push putts.  It holds every line well and really earns that glide rating of 4.

What surprised me the most about the Rune was how much I've come to trust it as a driving putter.  You can throw this disc on any line and it will hold it through to the finish, and I've been able to stretch it out to 200ft with no real struggles.

Overall, I would recommend this disc to anyone searching for a putter. It's a great well-rounded option that will serve you well all over the course!

Great putter especially if you like to straddle putt. I use this disc for upshots mainly and occasionally putt with it up hill since it has such good glide. However, I mainly putt with the knife. In my opinion the knife catches the chains better and can deal with the wind better than the rune. But still a great disc and I love the feel of it better than the knife with the bead.

I use the Viking Rune for any putt inside 100 feet (regardless of whether or not I am trying to make the putt or lay-up) and straight drives of under 250 feet.

The Ground Plastic Rune is flat and feels very comfortable in the hand. The Rune does have a bead, which may turn some players from using it as their primary putter. I am not one of these people and own 12.

The Rune flies remarkably straight and slow, like a Mako3 with training wheels on it. I feel that the Rune flies best with an ounce of hyzer so that it flips to flat, and lands softly where you are aiming. Regardless, the Rune holds whatever line you choose with integrity.

Ground Plastic feels fantastic for putting: tacky enough to get a solid grip in all weather temperatures/conditions, but not gummy enough to stick in the hand. The plastic does deform rather quickly if thrown into trees or rocks, so carrying multiple Runes for different purposes may be advisable.

If you are searching for a primary, or straight driving putter, I would highly recommend you try the Rune!

Note that the Storm Plastic Rune has a much more domed flight plate than in Ground Plastic. Some people might like this, but I felt my releases were much less consistent as the disc would often wobble and overturn into a cut roller. Certainly worth trying if you like discs with a dramatic dome however.

We own the white 170g ten pack (ground plastic), a black 175g ground plastic version, and a pink 172g armor plastic version.  Viking's ground plastic is a better base plastic than average.  Their armor plastic is great, but a little slippery.  For Rune, the armor plastic has a more rounded faceplate than the ground plastic.  I sometimes throw it off the tee pad.  However, the armor plastic isn't ideal for this because it can get a little wobbly and unstable if thrown too hard.  The ground plastic is better for throwing off the tee pad and will go exactly where you throw it no matter how hard you throw it.  Of the putters I have tried, Rune is definitely my favorite.  I usually use the armor plastic because it is indestructible.  However, I prefer the grip and flight of the ground plastic.  My 10-year-old son uses the ground plastic Rune and also loves it.  He even sometimes throws it from the tee pad as well.  We recently got the 10-pack and have started practicing with them.  They are showing little signs of wear, although the plastic does scratch fairly easily.  Rune is a great, predictable putter; I can't imagine a better putter.

I have two of these straight putt & approach beaded putters in Ground Plastic, both 170 grams. I use these as my main putters within Circle 1. The Ground Plastic on these putters is similar to Infinite Discs X-Blend plastic, which I use for Myth (2,3,0,2) and Scarab (2,4,0,1) putters. The Ground Plastic is tacky yet not overly grippy, firm enough yet not hard like Infinite Discs P-Blend plastic. To me the Rune resembles the Scarab putter, but a tad shallower and yet still deeper than the Infinite Discs Tomb (3,4,0,1). This works well for me as sometimes I consider adopting the Tomb as my main Circle 1 putter. The Rune putter might be that perfect putter solution between Myth/Scarab & Tomb. The bead on the Rune is slightly more pronounced than the Myth,Scarab, and Tomb putters. I am beating in two Runes together because Ground Plastic beats up easily, more so than X-Blend. For forehand and backhand approach shots, I use the beadless Knife Stable Putt & Approach, reserving the Rune to Circle 1 putting.

If you like a slightly tacky, straight flying, beaded putter then give the Rune in Ground Plastic a try. From grip in the hand to straight flight into the basket, you’ll be glad you did. I suggest getting a pair to beat in together as the Ground Plastic does beat up easily.

Update. I have tried a few other Putters (Aviar, Challenger, Wizard) and I just want to throw the Viking Rune! So comfortable in my hand and I love it's flight. It will hold an anhyzer very well but will start to fight out of it a little on longer putts. Wind is another story. It will glide far past the basket if you putt into a headwind.

The Rune putter is a great straight flying putter, love the lower profile and bead. The disc's profile just feels perfect in my hand. I was using the MVP Ion and Axiom Proxy putters. Saw the Rune and threw at my practice basket one evening, then played a round at my local course. It immediately became my new go to putter, and I ordered a few more as practice putters. I always prefer a baseline plastic for my putters, and I love the Ground plastic feel and grip. However it is not durable in the slightest (hence the 4 star review), I will never use the Ground plastic in a driving situation.

The Rune is a very good, straight-shooting, easily controlled putter that works great for players at all levels. I really like the feel of the rim, which is rounded, with a small bead on the inside of the rim. There are no sharp edges, so I like the feel of my hand on the disc while lining up for my putts. I would compare the shape of the Rune to the RPM Discs Ruru which is very similar with the rounded outside edge, or a Latitude 64 Dagger, though the Rune is a more understable version that has very little fade.

I'd feel comfortable handing a Rune to a new player as a primary putter and feel like the disc characteristics wouldn't get in the way as they learn to polish their putting technique. Viking Discs has a good product in the Rune, and I feel like it has the potential to be a very popular putter down the stretch, as more people discover the brand.
