The Nordic Warrior is a very stable midrange that can take a lot of power and still fade back at the end of the flight. Viking claims that this disc is "not overstable, but you can really feel the control on big hyzers and windy situations." This mid is comfortable for, and works well for both backhand and forehand throws.

    Ground Plastic Details

Viking Ground plastic has been designed to offer excellent grip in hot, cold, and even rainy weather conditions. This plastic grade is flexible and sticky compared with the other Viking plastic blends. Just used the Nordic Warrior for the first time this weekend.  First time I bought or tried Viking Discs.  I was pleasantly surprised.  The plastic is firm but soft.  Very comparable to more major brands.  The flight of the disc was very straight.  If thrown right this is a wonderful mid range.  Not to mention it has a cool Warrior on the front.  Who doesn't like warriors? LOL. Will definitely be looking to try more Viking discs.

I bought the warrior and the axe at the same time and for the same reason, as I prefer the 4's off a tee over a putter for shots under 280 ft. I found the flight numbers to be spot on when thrown with proper speed and form. I needed a disc for the technical wooded courses and it is as dependable as the axe when you need just a slightly sharper finish on short shots or when throwing down hill and needing that bit more overstable disc.

As I said in my review of the axe, the plastic feels great for grip while supplying a nice rigid feel as well. It took quite a few hard hits on the tight wooded course I played and seems just fine so far. Awesome plastic and I plan on buying more viking discs in the future.

This is one of the more interesting midranges I've thrown to date.

First and foremost, Viking's Ground plastic feels incredible in the hand, however it is not the least bit durable. It feels like Innova DX coated in a soft rubbery plastic, providing awesome grip in the hand and even in chains. Tree hits don't do a ton of damage, but roads and concrete will render the edge of the disc pretty gnarly and gashed up quite quickly.

Anyway, this mold is one of the first of Viking's that I purchased. Out of the box, it was pretty overstable for me. It holds hyzer well and if thrown flat it would turn slightly and then fight out hard down the fairway. After using it for about a year, it became pretty uniquely flippy, as it will turn pretty quickly out of the hand if thrown flat, but it still fights aggressively left as it fades, just about as hard as it did on the first day I had it. I can get quite a bit of distance out of the Warrior, far more than any midrange I've thrown besides the Kastaplast Svea. It's beaded and quite comfortable in the hand. I would imagine it remains much more stable in either Armor or Storm plastic. As a beat-in ground plastic mid, it will flip up to flat and glide quite a long way before dumping hard to the left.

If you haven't tried Viking Discs before, this is a great one to start with. For a beginner, if you need a budget friendly overstable midrange that will fit in a small hand, this disc would be great for you.

I threw the Nordic Warrior in Ground Plastic, which is the softer of the Viking plastic blends, and it has nice grip without being too soft. I really ended up liking the disc and feel like it is a perfect mid-range for those who want to get a nice, straight throw with a very manageable fade at the end of flight. When thrown with too much power, it does pull to the understable side, but we are talking about a low-speed mid, so it is designed to be released with slow control. It it an easy disc to manage for approaches where you want to shape a shot for shorter s-curves, or power it to the understable side on an anhyzer, or approach a basket almost head-on, or hyzer it around an object. I'd say that the Nordic Warrior is designed as an all-purpose mid-range disc, and it would work well for new to intermediate players as a disc with a low learning curve. I'd compare it to a Buzzz with slightly more end fade (not as dramatic on the fade as a Buzzz OS).
