The Obex is an overstable midrange made with quality Vibram X-link rubber. This disc provides a smooth release and can handle powerful headwind throws. Vibram says that if you throw this disc at 56 miles per hour it will fly for 380 feet. Most disc golfers don’t throw this fast. The reviewers at Inbounds disc golf estimate that the average advanced player will throw this disc about 300 feet, with 56% low speed fade.

The Obex is supposed to be an overstable mid, but after a few rounds it's a straight flyer with a gentle fade. If you release flat, you can send a seasoned Obex in a straight line and rely on it to drop and stick. So it makes for a nice fairway approach or short tee shot.

Out of the box, I was in love with this disc. I'd been searching for something that would fly similar to a DX Roc3 but not beat in as fast, and this felt like the answer. But the rubber changed over time and started to glide less.

I might've stuck with the Obex but when I heard Vibram was ending production, I decided to recommit to Roc3s as my main mid. But I still take this one out to the course with me from time to time because it's enjoyable to throw.
